Do I Have to Go?
It was early morning and a good one. Birds were chirping outside. It made for a nice peaceful day in Cambridge. Ashrael waked from her slumber smiling before dread washed over her. “Oh no I have to go to that idiotic school. Why can’t I just stay home?” she said not wanting to drag herself out of bed. “Nothing is going to change. People will think me weird and treat me like i have some sort of disease. And maybe I do have one” she said sarcastically. She finally got up and got her clothes out. She wasn’t going to pre pack her clothes because she was hoping to get out of going. Instead her father made her. Told her it was going to be the best thing for her and she would enjoy it once she got there. She doubted it.
She glanced at the luggage before heading to the shower. Once all cleaned up. She put on a black long sleeve shirt and some jeans. She combed her hair and headed out to the kitchen. One of the staff was there cooking some food and putting it on the table. Her father was there finishing up his food. “There you are. Are you ready to head to Platform 9 ¼?” he asked her. She sat down at the table and with an exasperating breath said “Yes sir” She knew she couldn't change his mind on things. She might just head there and run away when she gets the chance to. That way he can’t interfere in her escape. She hadn’t figured out where to go from there. Probably to the Leaky Cauldron until she either gathered the courage to get back home or find her own way to wherever she wanted to go. It’s not like he would miss her.
Her father kissed her on the forehead and said “I won’t be able to come with you today sweetheart. I have to go into the office. I was told it was urgent or I would be going with you.” The look on Ashrael’s face was blank. She expected this. It just meant that she would have to go with one of the staff most likely Minnie who usually chaperones her places. “I understand father.” she lied but what was the point of arguing. He was sending her away so he wouldn’t have to deal with her. With a side along apparition Minnie the Chaperone and Ashrael took off to Kings Cross. There were a lot of muggles around which made Ashrael nervous. She didn’t particularly like muggles. Honestly she didn’t really like anybody.
As she walked to the platform barrier between 9 and 10, muggles didn’t seem to notice her. She had her luggage cart with her before looking up at Minnie. The chaperone told her to run through the barrier to get to Platform 9 ¼. Normally she would have thought this to be quite crazy to do but she was told ahead of time that Platform 9 ¼ was magically in between the King's Cross platforms. She was from a wizarding family so the trust that the platform was there didn’t make her think twice. She ran through it with her cart and lord and behold, Hogwarts Express was right in front of her. She almost forgot that she didn’t want to go to the school. The train looked exciting to her but then reality hit her and the sullen look upon her face appeared again. Minnie came through after her and asked if she had everything she needed. Ashrael nodded and said her goodbyes to Minnie before entering the Hogwarts Express.
There were so many kids it made Ashrael very nervous and annoyed. She walked through the aisle trying to find an empty compartment for herself. She found one and took a seat by the window after she put up her luggage. She could see all the families waving as the train left at exactly eleven o’ clock. Ashrael liked the peace so far although outside of the compartment she could hear noise from the kids running around. She decided she would take a nap since it will be a long ride to Hogwarts. After a couple of hours she woke and noticed a couple of kids sitting across from her. She pretended to stay asleep. Ash didn’t care about meeting new people; she knew that they would not befriend her just like everyone else. One of the girls saw her and smiled but Ash turned her head. This seemed to work as the girl and her friend chatted away ignoring her. This isn’t bad at all she thought if she could get by being ignored then maybe school would be bearable. The girl and her friend started to put on their robes after a while. The girl kindly said they were almost at Hogwarts and they needed to put on their robes. Ash followed suit and put on her plain black robes. She could tell that the girls were already sorted into their houses. Ash stayed quiet and to herself. The train was finally arriving at Hogsmeade station. She was starting to get nervous again. She hated being out of her comfort zone. “Well here goes nothing” she said
