Edith Sheridan | First Year | Gryffindor
BASIC INFOFull Name: Edith Sheridan
House: Gryffindor
Age: 11
School Year: First Year
Species: Human━─━────༺༻────━─━BackgroundBoth of Edith's parents are pure-bloods, making her a pure-blood as well. They live in London where Edith's father works at the Ministry of Magic. Her mother is a socialite and oversees the running of the household. Shaped strongly by her parents' social standing, Edith has spent her childhood in London and on various trips abroad. As far as she can remember, it has always been expected of her to be part of the family legacy and to uphold the Sheridan reputation. At her age, this mostly consisted in attending any and all functions with her parents. It did not take long for Edith to figure out that people listen to her one time mainly because of who she is and completely disregard her another time for the same exact reason.
Making friends in these conditions, therefore, never came easily to her. She played her part, ran off with the other children present at functions when allowed, but she rarely considered any of them her friends. They were merely all in the same boat, some enjoying it more, some less.
Her uncle from her mother's side used to work as an auror prior to her parents' marriage. Once married, her father managed to utilise his connections to ensure her uncle's promotion in the department. Unfortunately, as the promotion landed him in the office rather than in the field, her uncle started looking for ways to spice up his work life, including taking bribes. He managed to fly under the radar for several years before the Ministry caught on. Edith was barely 8 at this time. A drawn-out legal process followed and by the end of it, her uncle was laid off, bringing shame onto her family's name. (Or at least that's how her father always painted it.) Not long after, her uncle decided to part from the family altogether and disappeared before any further punishment could be carried out.
In the aftermath of this, Edith was placed under even more scrutiny. Her family fought tooth and nail to sever any and all connections to her uncle, and to distinguish themselves as honourable with her father developing closer and closer relationship with all his connections. Every care was taken to renew the Sheridan name.
Now, 4 years later, the unseemly dealings of her uncle lie mostly covered up in the Ministry's registry, but her father remains in constant fear of them being dredged up again should any social misstep occur on their part. Edith never fully understood the ramifications of her uncle's actions. She did learn one thing, however - if there is something that you want and think you deserve, you must fight for it with any means necessary.━─━────༺༻────━─━First Instance of MagicWhen Edith was 6 years old, her parents brought her to one of the functions they regularly attend, and at her young age, she was very quickly released to play around with a group of other children. It was a long evening but she was having a good time. Their whole group was running around, nicking food from trays, and exasperating every adult whose path they crossed. As the evening trudged on, their games grew wilder and wilder, until it happened. Locked in a loud game of hide and seek, Edith slipped into one of the rooms adjacent to the main ballroom and hid in a wardrobe there. She never expected anyone to find her there. Suddenly the door flew open at the hands of one of her friends, and she shrieked in absolute shock. The sounds itself was barely louder than stern speech, but that meant little to one of the mirrors in the room which immediately exploded into tiny pieces all over the floor. Needless to say, her parents kept her on a very tight leash at any functions from then on.
