The First Day
01/09/25
Edward stood in awe at the sight of The Hogwarts Express, as if crossing the strange magical gate to platform3/4 wasn't enough, he was always dreamed of being in the old west when steam trains were still a thing like in the spaghetti westerns him and his mum used to watch. He always dreamed of being one of those Clint Eastwood types like in the movies, with a poncho and a gun at his hip.
"I suppose a magic train will have to do" He said to himself.
His parents had already left him to cross into platform3/4 as he had requested, he wanted to be able to enter this fun new stage of his life with independence, free of mum and dad, plus dad was already running late to work so he did him a kindness. Edward stood with his duffle bag full of the essentials requested from the official shopping list, watching as all the Hogwarts students said goodbye to their family and loved ones before boarding the train. Immediately Edward felt a stab of nervousness in his chest, Edward was a muggle born wizard with a very small amount of knowledge in the wizarding world, what if he's treated differently? what if its even worse than primary school?
Edward shook his and shoved his thoughts away in a small box in the back of his head, until they emerge again at some other major point in his life. He quickly boarded the Hogwarts Express and struggled through the crowded cart to find an empty cabin, he luckily found one and sat his duffle bag beside him on the seat. It was a long ride with no digital music players so Edward expected a boring few hours ahead of him. Hopefully the passing scenery out the window can entertain him enough for the ride, Edward put his head against the window and closed his eyes.
Soon he heard the cabin door slide open hastily.

The First Day
She still had to grasp the reality of it all. It felt like a fever dream, like something that makes you turn and toss between the sheets. If a year before someone had told Rowan Lynch that she would turn out to be a witch and be sent to some sort of magic school, she would've looked at them blankly and then she would've asked which one of her brothers had set that prank up. And yet, it was all true. It was all true, and it felt unbelievable.
Although she had spent the whole summer trying to convince herself just enough so that she wouldn't make a fool of herself once at the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, as she crossed King's Cross the youngest Lynch still looked visibly shocked. For that special day, she had asked her family if they could please let her go on her own, but nothing had worked. Instead, she was now parading across the Platform 9 ¾ with a mother, a father, and four older brothers behind her. So embarassing.
The simple act of crossing the wall had shook her to her core, and she couldn't imagine what was expecting her at the end of the train ride. The Hogwarts Express was resting with majesty at the platform, with swarms of students getting on, off, on again, waving from the windows, screaming and laughing. Rowan Lynch felt something at the back of her throat. It was both excitement and melancholia, both happiness and sadness. She was gonna miss so much of her family. She didn't have any friends back home, so she didn't really care about that, no. But her family? Her mother, her father, her brothers? They were her whole life, and she knew she was gonna lose a bit of them forever.
When she turned around, Rowan Lynch ran towards her mother's arms, and with tears in her eyes she whispered: «I'm gonna miss you all so much. Oh, so much!» She soon felt her mother's arms holding her tighter, surrounded by all of her brothers. Her father's hand was gently caressing her hair.
After a few minutes, Rowan Lynch finally found the corage to bid her farewell to her family.
When she felt ready to do so, she walked down the platform. First, slowly; then, a bit quicker. And then, at the very end, knowing she could not change her mind, she decided to jump hastily on the train, determined to find a cabin before she could change her mind and run back to her family.
In all truth, she didn't really pay much attention to which cabin she was getting in. She just hurriedly opened one, which just happened to be the one where a young, blonde boy was already sitting.
«Hi» she said, announcing herself. She wasn't very good at socialising, and she hoped not to come across as weird, «My name is Rowan. Can I sit here with you?»

The First Day
"Kings cross we have finally arrived. All young inspiring wizards time to depart" said uncle Rog. While not his real uncle the man was married to his mother's cousin and best friend. He was not only a muggle but the coolest guy Max knew. "Bout time, traffic was bloody bonkers" replied aunt Bonnie. "Thanks again Rog, taken the day to drive this contraption all the way here" said Lilliana. Max knew his mother couldn't stand riding in this van his uncle owned, but he loved it, especially when they could put the windows down and music turned up. "Yeah thanks Rog, I'm going to grab a trolley quick. Max get yourself together it's time" Grayson said before hoping out. "Yeah yeah" Max groaned before stretching and yawning. As they exited the van and went to open the back to wait for his father Max felt a hand on his shoulder. Uncle Rog with a serious look on face looked into Max eyes and says "Hug me Obi-wand your my only hope". Max burst out laughing while embracing his uncle. "Man I'm going to miss you" Max told his uncle. "What did he say?" Questioned Lilliana. "Muggle nonsense like always" Bonnie said while rolling her eyes. Max in turn hugged his aunt. "Cmon Bon you know I live that Mug life" joked Rog. " Are all muggles this weird" Lilliana joked. "Nope, just Rog" Grayson answered as he returned and began to load the trolley. "Anyway Max know what house you want yet? Maybe being a Lion like me or a Eagle like your parents?" Asked Bonnie. "Knowing him he'll be a skunk" joked Rog. "Its Badger, and you know it. Your kids will making this trip eventually" replied Lilliana with a slightly sad look. "I never thought about anything but Ravenclaw, eagle fits me" Max said distractedly watching a few crows flying over. "Say your goodbyes now Max your aunt and uncle are going to wait for us here" ordered Grayson.
After begrudgingly saying bye to his aunt and uncle they were off. Crossing to the platform of 9 3/4 left the already quiet boy speechless. The people, noise, smoke from the train preparing to depart and again the crowd of people was making an already nervous boy more uncomfortable. With his father pushing his trolley and his mother placing a hand on his shoulder they began to approach the train without much being said. As they neared the train Max takes a few steps away from his parents and begins to observe the crowd. Observing people rather than socializing is something Max was very fimilar with. A girl with purple streaks in her hair catches Max's attention and he stops to watch her and nearly get ran into by a blonde haired girl who never even seen him. Max watches this nervous girl run to her mother's embrace and weep. As she is consoled he looks back at his parents and thinks he can relate. His own nervousness and hidden insecurities surfacing. Saying goodbye to his parents was harder than he imagined. Hiding his own tears as his mother let hers out during the last embrace they'd share for months. His father was just as sad but showed less but Max knew his father well and could see he was also struggling composure. "Love ya and will write soon" Max managed to say as cheerful as he could before entering the train.
If the platform was bad the inside of the train was a madhouse. Shouting, carrying on, people darting between compartments. Max not knowing what to do sees the blonde girl he seen early up ahead of him turn into a compartment. Once last glance around and he follows her. Max catches the door as it closes just time to hear her introduce herself as Rowan to another person Max couldn't see with the girl standing there. Not really wanting to startle the girl. Max clears his throat and says "excuse me I'm Maximus or Max if ya like. If you don't mind I'd like to sit if there's room for one more".

The First Day
Edward looked at the new girl named "Rowan" a bit startled, he was not expecting someone to actually wanna sit with him. he could sense a small bit of nervousness in the girl, a feeling he was already well familiar with. His startled demeanor shifted to a sense of welcoming as he examined her, she was definitely his age and she had a very green look on her face. she must be a first year just like him! maybe Edward doesn't have to spend this train ride bored out of his his skull. Edward childishly spent many days avoiding girls after he was embarrassed by his crush Amber Leslie, for some reason the girls were more cruel than the boys, but this girl seemed more much kind than the likes of the mean girl clique. But many of the young wizards that he had met at Diagon Alley seemed more mature than the people at "muggle school" so maybe things will be completely different now.
his parted lips then closed and went into a small smile and he greeted her.
"I don't mind at all. Sit if you like"
he then noticed another boy who looked his age, catching the door as rowan attempted to close it, he cleared his throat and introduced himself as "Maximus" or "Max." Max sounds way cooler than maximus, unless this blonde boy was a prince or something. He definitely looks like one, or at least he dresses better than Edward. He wondered if these two were muggle born like him, probably not. Edward wondered if he should even let these two actually sit or not, what would they say if Edward told them he was muggle-born? they seemed kind but he's been advised by several folks at Diagon alley about wizard superiority and all that. surely he shouldn't be so cautious though right? Its not like racism is widely supported in the muggle world, why would it be supported here?
Edward shoved his thoughts away and kept a smile on his face as he greeted Rowan and Max, encouraging them sit down.
"Of course! both of you can sit if you like. I'm Edward by the way."
sorry for the late reply yall, just got over the flu and recovering.

The First Day
After hearing the ok from the boy named Edward, Max wasted no time in stepping in and hastily shut the door.
"Thanks mate" Max replied.
Quickly slipping to the side of Rowan, Max relieves himself of the satchel he had almost forgot he was carrying. Max taking a quick glance at Edward seeing him for the first as he removes his slightly oversized dark blue hoodie. Looking down at himself he untucks the dark blue and gray plaid button up shirt from his charcoal gray pants. Why did his mother need to be so stubborn? A t-shirt with jeans or sweats would've been so much more comfortable. First impressions something something is what he heard before going to change his clothes. Taking a seat near the door on the same bench as Edward, Max continues his pursuit of comfort by unbuttoning his shirt half way and rolling up his sleeves. A slight smile crossed his face seeing his new t shirt his uncle got him, with the album cover of his favorite muggle rock band ( a legendary British band popular in the 70s) .
Finally seated and away from all the crowds and chaos a sigh of relief slipped out. Now what, he thinks glancing quickly at his new companions. Social interactions with kids his age never came natural or went as he had hoped. Reaching in his satchel Max pulls out some colored pencils and a sketch pad. Opening to a blank page he half heartedly begins to draw.
Remembering his mother's lecture about opening up and trying to make friends he looks to Edward again.
"So um you first year too?"
"Thanks mate" Max replied.
