Train of Thought
01/09/2025
As Dorian took his first steps into the carriage, a thought resonated within him.
That farewell was too quick, wasn't it? I'm going to be gone for a whole year.
He stared into nothingness as he delved deeper into the different carriages, his mind empty, yet so full, paying no mind to his surroundings. The whole summer seemingly ran through his head at two times the speed. He simply wasn't used to his life being this busy. Right now, he merely wished to be back in the couch of his home, perhaps finally reading that new fantasy novel he'd promised to finish.
With a sigh, Dorian is brought back to the world. He enters the nearest empty compartment, stowing away his luggage. He enjoyed the silence for a while, as he slumped into his seat. He closed his eyes for a moment, taking it all in once again. It'll be too long til i'll be home again, Dorian thought. He trailed the seams of the seat with a finger, thinking of the days ahead. School, homework, and the pain of fellow pupils. He wasn't exactly looking forward to meeting his peers.
Dorian's eyes were fixed to the window, gazing at the families galore bidding farewell to their children. The thought echoed yet again; That farewell could've lasted longer. His hand curled up into a fist. As a pit seemed to be digging deep within, a quick glance outside quickly sees his mood changed. It was the sight of his father, along with his two sisters, proudly waving to him from a distance, he could recognize that mustachioed face anywhere! Dorian's chest was filled with an unexpected warmth. He'd smile and wave back as a few tears trickled their way down. It won't be too long, he thought.
Then, to present matters. Once the teary-eyed farewells had been done, albeit done so quietly mouthed through the window, Dorian found himself refreshed and inspired, ready to face whatever would meet him on this journey, both by train, and the year itself. He'd fix his posture, both hands in his lap, with anticipation clearly written on the boy's face. The sight would probably be a bit silly to anyone fortunate enough to pass the compartment.
As the time grew near to leave the station, he'd look to the door as the silence surprisingly got to him, a thought springing to the mind, one he considered quite uncharacteristic:
Perhaps i should find another compartment?
Alas, he'll stay. At least for now.
Alas, he'll stay. At least for now.
Train of Thought
Finally having gotten out of her mothers powerful grasp after what felt like an hour of hearing her sob that she loves her, Eleanor stepped onto the Hogwarts Express with her massive suitcase and satchel at her sides. She was prepared to ignore her peers and simply read her way to Hogwarts.
Her mother's excessive goodbye had been enough socializing for her, she thought. Although Eleanor does dearly love her mother, she still feels as if she can be a bit much, sometimes even being a little embarrassing while so many others are around. She knows that she means well, but sometimes wishes she could be a little more like her somewhat distant father. But perhaps her mother makes up for her fathers emotional, and currently physical distance. She wasn't showing it, but Eleanor was extremely disappointed that her father apparently couldn't make it due to a "business meeting". It was his typical excuse. Eleanor had never bought it.
At that current time, however, there were more pressing matters. She had to find a compartment, and hopefully one with people who seem equally disinterested in speaking with others. As she wandered the halls of the seemingly never-ending train, she spotted many sorts of folks. Some rowdy groups of older wizards who were shouting profanities that she'd never dare utter, some that seemed to be around her age trading sweets and such, but then she saw to her left; a boy that she'd met only two days prior in Diagon Alley. Perhaps speaking with someone isn't such a bad idea. Eleanor thought instantly, now having decided that she'd be joining her acquaintance in this compartment he had all for himself.
Eleanor grabbed the door handle, seeing that Dorian hadn't seen her yet, and slowly opened it. She had a devious plan to simply sit down in front of him without saying a thing. They had met once, so surely he'd be fine with this! So, Eleanor took a step inside with her luggage, somehow not alerting the boy with the sound of dragging her large suitcase in through the small gap of a door. She felt as if she'd tumble over, but caught herself and to her surprise, the boy still stayed staring through the window.
Eleanor proceeded to sit down, without even putting her suitcase away, thinking that she could do that after he'd noticed her. A minute went by, nothing. Another couple minutes and still nothing. This boy is completely oblivious! She thought, absolutely dumbfounded and keeping in her laugh. Eventually she started feeling bad for him and faked some coughs. Still nothing. This little plan of hers would have to end now, so she finally said something with a devious smile to get his attention.

"Hello Dorian. I hope you weren't looking to be alone, for now I have decided to sit here with you."

Train of Thought
Dorian was brought forth from his daydreaming just like that. He blinked frantically as he seemingly returned to the world. It took him quite a moment for him to realize who it was. Oh! It's.. El- Eeeh... Eliza? That weird girl from the bookstore! What a small wizarding world.
"Feel free to take a seat!" Dorian says, long after she'd already sat down. Damnit. This was going south real fast. Quick Dorian! Quick! Be a proper conversationalist and salvage this NOW!
"Can't you believe we're going to Hogwarts? Isn't that crazy?" He talks louder than usual making big movements with his arms, which could either be a sign of desperation, anticipation or genuine comfort from having a friend near.
Faux pas aside, a moment of clarity hits as he genuinely asks:
"So, what do you think it'll be like? Y'know... Magic school and all? I've never done this before..." His voice sinks into a low mumble as his eyes trail off to the door, seemingly embarrassed.
"Oh, hi! Elle- uh" He cuts himself off in hopes that it'd be taken as some kind of friendly nickname of sorts. "Anyone ever told you that you speak weird?" He blurted out, oblivious as to how any normal person would take that. It quickly sinks in however, as he tries to salvage it with a forced smile."Hello Dorian. I hope you weren't looking to be alone, for now I have decided to sit here with you."
