The fair is finally in full swing. Many excited students and adults meander their way throughout the grounds, as many of the chief attractions have opened. Numerous games have opened for prizes, and throngs of students eagerly line up for their turn at the games. Stephen is no exception; he joins an extremely long line for a game called Whack-a-Gnome, where the aim of the game is to bonk as many gnomes on the head as possible within a set time limit. Lucky for the gnomes, they are fast, but even luckier for the player, they are not exactly bright. Stephen stands and watches as the line slowly moves on along. My, this line is moving quite slowly. Stephen thinks to himself, as it seems like he is standing for hours in this line, the hot August sun baking against his skin. Stephen finds his attention wandering as he waits for his turn. he glances around the midway as lines for all of the other games are just as long as his. Being that they all just opened up today, the fairgoers are eager to put their skills to the test. Suddenly, Stephen feels a tap at his shoulder. he turns to find a tall boy, a little older than he is, with striking green eyes and brown hair looking back at him. ”Is there something I can help you with?” Stephen asks as the boy smiles back at him.

𝓟eter, the almost third year boy was chatting politely with his best friend, making sure she was okay. On the first day of camp, she had laughed bitterly and likely cursing his name.

"You sure you don't wanna go try the rides and games? You absolutely sure, Brooke?" Peter wanted to try one more time.

Brookline yawned (Faker, Peter thought), and the Welsh girl nodded a couple times, making her smile seem genuine. "I'm sure. I-I didn't get enough sleep last night. Sleep is over-rated."

Peter shook his head slightly, and nodded. He knew how hard it was for his friend. He bid Brookline goodbye, and reluctantly left her alone in the tent. Everyone else was out, and enjoying all what the fair had to offer.

He clipped a leash on his half-crup, and chirped, "Come along, Carmel. We're going to see if we find Aurélie. Or one of the girls in our tents. Someone we know."

Someone. Just to look like the fair is fun. Anything would be find. Perhaps even a stranger when he couldn't find anyone.

First, to look for Aurélie. It was doubtful he could find the little firecracker. She could be anywhere and everywhere.

Deciding he could find Aurélie later, he found a new game. This weird game called Wack-A-Gnome. He was pretty sure it was a Muggle game, but even though being half-Muggle, he didn't have a half an idea of what the game was.

Peter looked at the end of the line, and saw a young boy sitting in the queue, his mind rambling, wondering along as he waited. He went up to the boy, and tapped his shoulder, figuring this boy could te him what this game was.

The boy turned around and asked him how he could help him.

Peter chuckled and smiled. "Do you think you could tell me what this game is about? Looks interesting but I've never heard of it."

If the boy would tell him or explain, after he was down, Peter would nod and understand. "Thanks, mate. Peter Smith is my name. I'm from the French school of Beauxbâtons. And your name?" His smile never left his face as he thought of Aurélie and Brookline. Aurélie would laugh if she ever found out that Peter went up to a underclassmen and asked what a game was about. Brookline would laugh, hollow, but still a glimpse of Old Brookline.

He noticed Carmel nudging his ankle, and Peter knelt down to see what was the matter with his crup. He rubbed her ears, and rose again, saying, "This is my half-crup, Carmel. You're welcome to pet her, if you'd like."

He didn't know why he was so friendly. Perhaps it was that he couldn't find Aurélie or he just needed a distraction from dull Brookline.
