BaiKim Confections

| ———— |
—date. [ 08/11/25 ]———hair color. [black]———height. [5'10"]———outfit. [pink-white]——————------------------------ It was summer time. Kim was once again at summer camp but this time instead of merely being a participant, he'd spoken with Bailey earlier and the two had decided to do a test run this summer. To see if BaiKim Confections would be popular when they got the place up and running after graduation. If it succeeded, they would set it up during their time at Hogwarts and continue to run it until Bailey graduated and was able to start the process of officially getting the business done. Kim had already told Bailey he would help her with money and she would take care of the rest while he was still at Hogwarts. But of course, the two would communicate on a regular basis and probably see eachother over breaks. That being said, there was a lot of work to get done just to set up their bakery-cafe. Unfortunately, Bailey herself would not be able to make it this time. But she'd be there afterward and Kim would share how things went during the summer with her then. Being a perfectionist was not great because Kim wouldn't settle for anything less than what the two had envisioned together. Of course, magic was going to come into play because it was a magical place.... When guests came over to his booth, they would see a regular booth on the outside with the illusion of cherry blossom trees hovering over the booth, giving it a beautiful nature-Japanese style look. There was a beautiful sign placed on the booth which said... The local ray of sunshine is sharing her light with us in her food while the prince of sweets is gracing us with delicious treats. If you wish to partake, please go through the door to the right. There was a drawn arrow pointing to the right where one would see a door shrouded in bushes and branches. Guests would try the door and find it open. When they went inside, a beautiful illusion met their eyes as Kim's vision was laid out before them, highlighting Japan's cherry blossom trees. ![]() The entire place carried a cherry blossom theme, a large cherry blossom tree even jutting out from a wooden beam above the heads of guests entering the place. Pastel pink marble gave it a clean and Asian inspired look, along with it feeling rather cheerful by nature. It was really a combination of Bailey and Kim. Upon approaching the counter, Kim would meet them dressed in white and pink with a hat on his head to keep his hair from getting into his face or food while he worked. He would give guests a menu choice. They could select one of three different choices. There was a Sunshine Course, Asian Course, and the Asian Sunshine Course. The Sunshine Course was a dessert course that had a sunshine theme. This one represented Bailey Glade and had three different desserts. The Asian Course was a savory course that had an Asian theme. This one represented Kim's heritage (Kim Aoki he'd be introducing himself as) and consisted of an appetizer, entree and dessert. The Asian Sunshine Course was a combination of both, starting off with an appetizer, two savory dishes and two desserts. This would probably be a popular one for those who came in pairs to the place. No matter which course you ended up choosing to have, you would also get a delicious Chocoball with fancy colorful lettering on the top that says BaiKim Confections. The unique chocoball would be put into a special pink themed bag to carry it out when you left after an amazing experience. ![]() At the end of your dining experience, Kim would ask you to fill out a pretty homemade flower card where the guest(s) would leave their thoughts about the experience and jot down anything they might want to see in the future at the bakery-cafe if/when it went official. If this did happen, it would only happen after graduation. But they still want to know how popular the place would be during their time at Hogwarts, so they can better prepare for the future to see what things work out. ![]() As a special promo, BaiKim Confections will also be holding a lottery type of activity after your course is finished. Come to the back of the booth and step into an enchanted illusion space where you will find a wooden swing in a clearing. If you swing on it and reach a certain height which is required, you can cast Flipendo at a dangling flower ball set up a short distance away. ![]() ![]() If you hit the ball, you get a prize, which is a pink-blue flower snow-globe which is placed inside a transparent carrying bag with pink shredded parchment paper. ![]() ![]() If you don't hit it, you get a consolation prize, which is a cherry blossom themed candle. It is placed inside a white bag with a pink flower on the top part of it. ![]() ![]() (( OOC: Whether you hit the ball or not depends upon 2 things. First, I will roll to see if there is wind or no wind for you. If there is wind, flower ball EVA will be 5. If there is no wind flower ball EVA will be 3. I will roll for your ACC against the flower ball's EVA )) tag. [@Kim Sato]—( codes by uly. )— | ———— |

Speech -- Thoughts
Seemed like Pam's desire for some food had been finally answered. The writing 'BaiKim's confections' drew her attention immediately, the joyous little skip of her heart that always accompanied the prospect of something sweet, or any good in general really. She did hope it was a good kind of sweet though. Bad dessert could be really disappointing.
What had actually drawn her attention, besides the name was the layout of the shop. It was bright, like all the other shops in the expo, but seemed to have the characteristic softness of the Japanese cherry blossoms. Over all, it was beautiful.
Pam walked in, marvelling at the beauty of the place. Suddenly, it felt less like a bakery and more like a place out of a fantasy book. She turned to greet the owner, startled to see a familiar face, "Kim!" She greeted the older boy, "Hello! This place is gorgeous!"
She took a seat at a table, scanning over the menu that she was offered. Oh, this is hard, why do all of them sound so good? "I'll be taking a Asian Course please." She decided finally, offering him a smile. Pam couldn't help but tap her feet against the ground excitedly, this is gonna be good.

XX | For once, Kim was not wearing his Durmstrang uniform or cloak. But that was only because this was BaiKim Confections. He would need to be working on preparing and cooking or baking the courses offered to those who came there. A uniform and cloak would just get in the way right now, Kim needed to wear a chef's uniform over his white and pink styled clothes. At least while he was cooking or baking things. The very first guest appeared at the booth, someone he actually recognized and he inclined his head to her. "Welcome to BaiKim Confections, Pamela." Kim said, greeting her and smiled at her praise of the place. "Thank you for the praise. We did try our hardest to please guests." He said, having talked with Bailey beforehand about the layout scheme. "Even though Bailey is not here at the time, she would be thrilled to know you like the look of the place." He told Pamela. The duelist-chef inclined his head when Pamela decided on the Asian Course. "Right away, miss." Kim said with a smile. He came out from behind the counter with a pitcher of water and a glass and placed it on the table. "Please, refresh yourself with some water. Your food will be out shortly." He told her. Kim busied himself in the kitchen. There were various courses to choose from. South Asian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai and a few others. Deciding upon an Indian style South Asian course this time, Kim began to get started. Eventually, the whole course was finished and he brought all the dishes out to serve Pamela the full course. "First, for your appetizer we have a delicious potato samosa with a cilantro and garam masala." Kim set it down. "Next we have your main course. A delicious chicken curry with basmati rice and a slice of naan." Kim had tasted this dish before and found it quite tasty and filled with flavor. "Side dishes include a summer salad with lentils and a nice and cool Raita which is a yogurt dip." Dipping some of the yogurt into the salad and even into the curry dish itself gave a lovely flavor combination and cooled the heat a bit too. "As your dessert, we have some Gulab Jamun. This is actually one of my favorites." He told her, licking his lips. "They are deep-fried dough balls which are soaked in a rosewater-scented sugar syrup. "Gulab" comes from the Persian words meaning flower and water." Kim told Pamela. The chef waited for Pamela to indulge in the food he'd created for her, curious to know her opinions. He brought over a pretty homemade flower card and set it down on the table when Pamela was done. "Please fill out this card with your thoughts about the course and any suggestions you might have. Don't worry if you can't come up with anything, we mainly just want to know whether we were able to make you happy with our food." Kim explained. Hopefully, there wouldn't be any suggestions this time at summer camp. As it would mean they were doing well from the start. Once she'd filled out the card, Kim asked if she would like to participate in the special promo lottery they had going on. When she gave confirmation that she wanted to participate (ooc this was y/n), Kim nodded and held out his hand towards the back part of the booth. Once Pamela followed him, the chef led her out of the main portion of the booth and onto a forest path. An enchanted illusion space sprung up a short distance away, where a single wooden swing could be seen in a small clearing. A dangling flower ball was tied to the top of the tree arbor archway now. "Please let me explain the promo lotto. You sit on the swing and swing as high as you can. Once you are over the line on the tree branch ahead of you, cast Flipendo at the dangling flower ball. If you are able to hit it, you get a prize. If you don't, you get a consolation prize." Kim told Pamela. He waited for Pamela to get into place and then watched the first guest of BaiKim Confections attempt to win a prize on the swing. Kim watched as she started to swing and then took careful aim at her target. Luckily, there was no wind now. Pamela accuracy - [d20: 7] + 6 = 13 Flower Ball evasion - [d20: 8] + 3 = 11 [13 > 11] → Hits! Kim clapped his hands when Pamela's spell hit the Flower Ball and knocked it off its string. "Congratulations. You've won the main prize! Here you go." He told her and handed Pamela a transparent bag with shredded pink parchment paper inside which housed the prize, a beautiful pink-blue flower snowglobe. Kim turned to lead Pamela back out towards the main section of the booth again. Once there, he picked up a special tiny pink container that housed a chocoball with delicate script written in icing that had hardened over time on the chocolate shell. It would read BaiKim Confections. "Thank you for coming to BaiKim Confections." "We hope to see you again in the future when we open up an official location!" Kim said with a smile. Their first guest had done pretty well he thought! |

That booth was like a dream come true, not only did it look straight out of a beautiful fantasy book, but also seemed to be the place where Nick was going to save himself from the gnawing hunger in his stomach.
Truth be told, he had already eaten most of the snacks he has brought in his walk, and the rest of his food was stored far away in his tent, so his best chance was to find a place to save him with a good meal.
And BaiKim Confections was his salvation, tied in a very neat little pink bow of cherry blossoms. In fact it took him a few seconds to see the sign, in fact he looked up, down, at the bushes and even at a bug on the floor before he actually noticed the arrow pointing at the door. "Oh!" He chuckled as if it was so normal for him to do something like this.
"This place is so pretty..." He mumbled mostly to himself, before he noticed the owner by the counter. He waved, smiled like the polite little boy he was. "Good evening!"
But this not a time for chatting, in fact it was time for eating! And despite being as polite as he was, Nick was starving so he sat down as soon as he found himself a spot. And immediately started looking at the menu.
The surprise and a tad bit of relief washed over him as he saw that there weren't many options, he was hungry and the last thing he needed to worry with was to struggle through fifty different options of meals.
"Can I have a... Asian Course please?" Nick finally ordered with his best smile, trying to not show how eager he was to just dig in. And by the look of this place, he was sure it was going to be his very best meal all summer.

XX | One down. More to go. Kim heard a little bell ding as someone else entered BaiKim Confections. Dressed in a chef's uniform over his white and pink styled clothes, Kim smiled at the customer. "Welcome to BaiKim Confections!" He said, letting his eyes flicker over the unfamiliar face there. "Thank you for the compliment. We did try and make it appealing to others!" Kim said in response to Nick saying the place was pretty. "Even though Bailey is not here at the time, she would be thrilled to know you like the look of our combined place." He told Nick. The duelist-chef inclined his head when Nick decided on the Asian Course. "A good choice. This one seems popular with everyone." Kim remarked. He came out from behind the counter with a pitcher of water and a glass and placed it on the table. "Please, refresh yourself with some water. Your food will be out shortly." He told him. "First off we have your appetizer. Three mini BBQ pork steamed buns." Kim told him, setting down the first dish before him. It might be a small portion but that was the main point. To be able to sample a bunch of different dishes without filling up too fast. "Once you've finished that, a soup is served meant to cleanse the palate. I've made you some Chinese vegetable broth soup. He placed that dish down on the table too. Setting the platter down on the empty table next to him, Kim picked another dish off it. "Next up is your entree. Unlike many cultures, Chinese meals have alot of different parts to their main entrees...." "They are the heart of the meal and usually start off with some kind of meat, followed by some kind of seafood and ending with a vegetable of some kind. At the same time, they serve a side dish of some kind of rice. I've taken the liberty of giving you some steamed white rice along with serving you some Chinese fried rice as well." Kim reached over to take another plate off the platter. "For your meat dish, I've selected Kung Pao Chicken. For your seafood dish, I've chosen Steamed Fish with ginger, spring onions and soy sauce. And for your vegetable dish, you have a lovely Mapo Tofu. I didn't know if you like it really spicy or not that spicy, so I went with an average spiciness." He told him. Hopefully, Nick could handle a small amount of spice. "And to end your course, you are presented with a simple pineapple cake dessert. It's similar to a cookie but is a cross between a cake and a cookie." Kim told Nick. The chef waited for Nick to indulge in the food he'd created for him, curious to know his opinions. He brought over a pretty homemade flower card and set it down on the table when Nick was done. "Also, please fill out this card with your thoughts about the course and any suggestions you might have. Fresh from Pam's booth, Mamori wander aimlessly along the vendor path, eyes swepting over the usual suspects: face painting stations, flying experience booths, tarot card readings, and other questionable services, mixed in with stalls peddling flowers, hair clips, and other trinkets that seemed designed to separate people from their money while adding zero value to their lives. His pouch already housed three impulse purchases he'd probably regret later, and with time for only one or two more stops before bailing, theres no need to add more future regrets to the collection.
Just as he'd briefly considered investigating a clothing booth for something actually practical, his stomach made its opinion known by an embarrassingly loud growl. Apparently, the whole bag of fudge flies he had eaten half an hour ago hadn't managed to keep his growing body satisfied.
Heeding his stomach's plea, he came to a booth that matched his hair color, soft pink cherry blossoms overhead where a sign advertised food and sweets. Seemed as good a place as any to wrap up this social marathon... until he walked in and immediately questioned his life choice.
The place was offensively pink, a bit too much even by his standards. There were cherry blossom trees hanging from the ceiling, the floor was covered in pink marble, round lanterns were shining pink, even the counter was surrendering to the pink invasion. The only relief came from what he assumed were wooden window frames (Japanese-style, so probably hinoki), although they occupied roughly the same visual space as a postage stamp in a sea of cotton candy.
His eyes started to protest, though whether from the overwhelming pinkness or his new glasses was up for debate. He pushed his turquoise frames into his hair and pinched the bridge of his nose, wondering if this was what the early stages of color blindness felt like.
Getting a seat was not difficult, but he couldn't hide his mounting disappointment when confronted with only three choices on the menu. After quickly glancing through the options, he looked up at the owner who was obviously Asian but guessing which exact country would be a bit too much of a stretch for him (despite all the try-hard Japanese aesthetics around them).
Mustering what probably looked more like a pained grimace than a smile, Mamori placed his order. "I'll take the Asian Sunshine Course. Just so you know, I'm hāfu, so if this fusion isn't interesting enough, I'm legally obligated to judge."Desired Course: Asian Sunshine

XX | It seemed to be getting busy in here when the tiny bell rang above the door a third time. Dressed in a chef's uniform over his white and pink styled clothes, Kim smiled at the customer. "Welcome to BaiKim Confections!" He said, letting his eyes flicker over Mamori. For some reason, his face looked familiar but Kim couldn't place it at the moment. Probably because of all the food he'd been creating for BaiKim Confections. It was hard to run a place like this all by himself but later on Bailey would be there to help him out. For now, he'd just have to make do. All on his own. He could tell Bailey about how things went later on. It didn't escape his notice how Mamori was reacting to the color scheme and Kim hummed to himself, wondering what it was that he didn't like about it. Was it the color? Was it the layout? Was it the limited menu? He came over to welcome Mamori and take his order choice. "Lovely choice. You're the first one today who has chosen this one!" Kim said with a smile. "Tell me, do you prefer spicy or non-spicy dishes?" He asked him. When Mamori told him he was hāfu, Kim smiled again. "That's cool, from where?" He asked, a little curious. "I will do my best to serve you delicious cuisine." Kim told him. He placed a pitcher of water and a glass down onto the table. "Please, refresh yourself with some water. Your food will be out shortly." He told him. Kim busied himself in the kitchen. There were various courses to choose from when a customer chose the Asian Sunshine Course. Kim always tried to mix things up a bit and serve very different cuisines to different customers. For this one, he decided upon a Japanese menu. It seemed as if it might be something Mamori would enjoy now. Perhaps a little taste of home? Kim began to get started. Eventually, the whole course was finished and he brought out all the dishes on a large platter to serve Mamori the full course. "First off we have your tasty appetizer. Some yakitori skewers, which are grilled chicken." Kim told him, setting down the first dish before him. "Once you've finished that, a soup is served meant to cleanse the palate. I've made you some miso soup and salad." He placed the soup and salad bowls down on the table in front of the guest with a smile. Setting the platter down on the empty table next to him, Kim picked another dish off it. "After the soup, we have your two entrees. The first is Chicken Curry Rice, served on a bed of fluffy steamed white rice." He placed it onto the table. "The second entree is Okonomiyaki, a type of savory pancake. I chose a seafood one this time." Kim told him. Hopefully, Mamori would enjoy his meal and nothing bad would happen. "And to end your course, you are presented with two relatively simple desserts. We have some Taiyaki, which is a fish-shaped cake filled with chocolate. The other is called Kakigori, a traditional Japanese dessert made from finely shaved, pure ice, topped with mango syrup and a dollop of vanilla ice cream." The chef waited for Mamori to indulge in the food he'd created for him, curious to know his opinions. He brought over a pretty homemade flower card and set it down on the table when Mamori was done. "Also, please fill out this card with your thoughts about the course and any suggestions you might have. Don't worry if you can't come up with anything, we mainly just want to know whether we were able to make you happy with our food." Kim explained. Hopefully, there wouldn't be any negative feedback this time at summer camp. Once he'd filled out the card, Kim asked if he would like to participate in the special promo lottery they had going on. When he gave confirmation that he wanted to participate (ooc this was y/n), Kim nodded and held out his hand towards the back part of the booth. If you are able to hit it, you get a prize. If you don't, you get a consolation prize." Kim told Mamori. He waited for Mamori to get into place and then watched the first guest of BaiKim Confections attempt to win a prize on the swing. Kim watched as he started to swing and took careful aim at his target. Unfortunately, there was some wind. Mamori accuracy - [d20: 4] + 10 = 14 Flower Ball evasion - [d20: 1] + 5 = 6 [14 > 6] → Hits! But despite this, Mamori had good aim! Kim clapped his hands when Mamori's spell hit the Flower Ball and knocked it off its string. His spell had been insane, hitting it so easily as if there had been no wind at all! "Congratulations. You've won the main prize! Here you go." He told him and handed Mamori a transparent bag with shredded pink parchment paper inside which housed the prize, a beautiful pink-blue flower snowglobe. Kim turned to lead Mamori back out towards the main section of the booth again.
