Hurried foot steps can be heard as a young lad of about 11 and his parents rush into King's Cross Station, the boy hurrying along with a trolly full of packages and a large trunk with the initials S.R. along the short side. The mother looks up at the clock nervously as it is 10:30am "Dear, we need to hurry the train leaves at 11 and I want to make sure you are settled in before you leave" the boy looks up at his mother who smiles through her misty eyes a look of happiness and pride tinged only slightly by a sense of sadness. The boy nods and they make there way across the station until the reach the landing between platforms 9 and 10, they boy's mother looks around before directing him to the barrier between the platforms. "Alright love, just like I told you, no need to be afraid." the boy nods "yes mum, just walk at the barrier and pass through" without further preamble the boy looks around to make sure there are no muggles watching and he walks straight at the barrier and passes through, he stands astonished as a gleaming scarlet steam engine stands before him on the bustling platform, many other students mingle with a gathering of what looks like parents saying there goodbyes. The boy moves out of the way if the gateway just in time to not be bowled over by his parents. The boys father looks on just as astonished. "Would you look at that son! Now that is magic, a hidden platform just for wizards ingenious." The boy smiles as his sense of excitement builds, "It's finally happening!" He exclaims looking at his parents "I am finally heading to Hogwarts!" The boy's mother leads him down the train to where a porter is loading students' luggage into the luggage car. "Alright Stephen, you can leave your things with this man, he will make sure they are stowed safely, you do have what you need in your backpack right? Money, Snacks, Wand, oh and your school robes to change into for the sorting ceremony yes?" the boy looks a little annoyed at his mother's coddling "Yes mum, its all in here" the boy pats his side satchel "And don't worry, my robes and hat are nicely packed just the way you taught me, there shouldn't be any creases I want to look nice for the sorting ceremony." His mother grins "Oh alright, well here, I have something for you." she pulls out a small pouch tied with a ribbon "some crystallized ginger just incase you share your father's motion sickness" the boy sighs but takes the pouch with a small smile "Thanks mum" the boy tucks the pouch into his pocket as he does the train whistle goes off "Oh dear! The train whistles again "I should probably get seated, see you for Christmas!"
