Anne ran into the shop, looking around. Her brother, Edward, had explained she could bring a pet to hogwarts with her. He’d buy it for her. She happily looked around the shop, taking in all the ferrets and cats. Her brother was zoning on about how cats, toads, or owls are traditional and he recommended those. Anne wasn’t listening. The girl practically hopped from animal to animal, looking at everything she could get.
She saw that there were fish, which would be cool, but it wasn’t cuddly. She saw lizards, but again, cuddly. There was a bunny, which was very tempting. It was until she saw a pen in the corner with puppies. “Ed, puppies!” She exclaimed, looking over the edge. There were maybe twenty puppies, all young, but old enough to be playing. Her brother went to the shopkeeper, a tall man, asking if Anne was allowed to possibly sit with the puppies, choose one. This man agreed. Anne climbed over the pen, stepping over a toy and sitting. The puppies all looked over, their tails wagging. They ran to her, covering in a cloud of cuteness. One dog didn’t join however. She looked over at that other dog, raising an eyebrow. This dog was very content with chewing his hind leg. His tongue flopped from the side of his mouth. Anne gasped, carefully touching the other puppies off of her to grab the dumb one. She picked him up, the dog still chewing his hind leg determinately. Edward gave her a silent gesture of ‘what the’? "This one. I want this one." Edward kept his confused gaze. "You sure? He seems... special." Anne nodded aggressively.
Edward reluctantly agreed to get this dog for her. "Will he have a name?" The male shopkeeper asked. Anne thought for a bit. "Steryotypical dog name." She said, no hesitancy. The shopkeeper just nodded. "What kind of name is that?" Edward asked.
"The best name ever." She held the dog up in her arms, admiring her new best friend. He had stopped chewing his leg, and he was looking at her, his head tilted to the side and his tongue out. Okay, maybe looking at her. His eyes were a big froggy. She didn't mind. This was her new best friend. The companion that would follow her through out her days at Hogwarts, keep her company in the new space. Forever and always.
