Light Rain Over Wenallt Forest

On a hill, surrounded by woods, far out in the outskirts of Cardiff county lies a quiet, wooden house. Light, summer rains pour gently upon the roof, bringing the forest to life with a little cacophony of pitter patter, gently masking the sound of the highway in the distance. Dorian was enjoying his summer vacation, lounging around on the sofa, watching the rain as it trickled down the window. He listened contentedly to the sound of rain against glass in his empty home.
His gaze shifted to a sealed envelope on the coffee table. An owl had arrived mere minutes ago. Yes, an owl. It stood there, right there on the fence, with that envelope in its mouth. Staring. Dorian shivered, that piercing gaze still resonating within him. He got off the couch, and over to the kitchen to fetch something to pry the seal off.
Dorian doesn't usually get mail. Usually it's just things like the dentist, or the doctor's, and his father usually is the one to process those. He held the letter in his hands, a warm grin spreading across his face. He opened the letter, swiftly glancing over the contents... His grin then proving to be short-lived. This actually looked pretty official.
He read the letter once. Then twice. Then thrice. What? A school acceptance letter? But Dorian couldn't remember applying for any school, summer vacation hadn't even begun yet! Confusion set in. It was during his fourth read that it finally clicked—
"Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft And Wizardry"
Oh.
Oh.
Actually, Dorian could remember something like this being mentioned by his father a couple years back after the incident. A nervous laughter escaped his lips— laughing at his own ignorance perhaps, and the gravity of the situation. The only thing going through his head at this present moment were questions reserved for his father.
It would be a long summer, Dorian thought.
And a long discussion to be had when father comes home.
