End of Year Struggles
Tes could NOT believe that the professor believed that students could still focus or learn things this close to the end of the year. The sun was shining, she could hear birds singing just out of sight, and summer vacation was practically within reach. It was only two more days after this one, and then she'd be back home! Running around the countryside, chasing chickens, and basking in the sunshine.Date and Time: June 25th, Afternoon class
Needless to say, as she heard the instruction to review the lesson in their textbook and finish their notes before leaving so they wouldn't have any homework, she had absolutely no idea what she should be reading in her textbook. Looking around she caught a glimpse of someone's book, which seemed to have some sort of creature on the page, but that sure didn't help her narrow it down beyond "middle of book with creature". Biting her lip, she flipped through the textbook, trying to find an image that matched the one of the student several seats down from her, but as the professor passed dangerously close to her desk with her empty paper, she took a moment to drop her head hopelessly into her open book.
There was no way she'd be able to figure this out on her own, so sitting up she leaned over to the Slytherin sitting next to her, who seemed significantly more confident in the lesson. "Uh, could you tell me what page we're going to in the textbook? I was maaaybe not paying enough attention during the lesson," she mumbled, cheeks burning with embarrassment, "I'm Tesla, by the way, but you can call me Tes."

End of Year Struggles

To say that the class was interesting for most people was not the right term. It was one of the hottest days of the year so far, not to mention the fact that classes were just a few days away from ending. The sun shone through the windows and quickly spread throughout the room, reflecting off the students' faces and warming the room with bright, intense light. However, the teacher insisted on teaching new content. Mari didn't care much, as she had memorized the content long ago, but even so, that didn't stop her from paying close attention to what the teacher was saying and writing down every word written on the board.
Wolfson pretended not to notice the piercing gaze of the girl next to her in the book as the teacher approached. Her heavy breathing and panicked gaze showed that she hadn't been paying attention to the lesson and was now seconds away from being caught, but Mari kept her composure and slowly turned the page as if she were interested in learning about the subject being taught, about everything she needed to know about vampires, as if she had never studied before.
Mari didn't turn to look at the girl; she didn't need to know that she was completely lost. It was understandable that, in a class like this, it would be boring for those who weren't interested in the subject, but not even bothering to find out what was being discussed in class was a sign of total disinterest.
“Page 237,” Mari replied, rolling her eyes slightly in response to the Hufflepuff girl's long-awaited question. "vampires. Middle section. The part about precautions to take, which is usually ignored by most people, and they end up getting bitten... which, considering your ability to concentrate today... Well, you'd better be careful," she said, with that typical sarcasm that made everything sound like a veiled warning.
“Mari Alves, if you want to copy the notes, you don't have to try to read the writing from a distance without asking, since you saw that it didn't work with the book,” Mari added, seeing the girl's cheeks flush at her statement. “They're here,” Mari said, nodding slightly toward the notebook beside her. “Just try to be smart enough so the teacher doesn't catch you.”

End of Year Struggles
Tes could feel the tension leave her body all in a rush as Mari introduced herself and eagerly scooted her chair closer to lean over and peek at the other girl's notebook. While she didn't necessarily appreciate the sarcastic comment about her attention span, Mari was more right than she could possibly know that Tes's lack of precautions had ended with her getting bitten in the past, just by a werewolf instead of the lesson's vampires. Maybe she really should have paid attention this particular day, but it was too late now.
"Oh man, thank you so much. You're a lifesaver! Maybe literally, depending on if I run into any vampires," she gushed, pulling her own parchment closer to copy down the notes and flipping her textbook to the right page. Looking between the dense, neatly written notes, and the paragraphs in the book, she was quickly overwhelmed once more.
"Oh, wow, you really just wrote down every single thing, didn't you?" she asked, chuckling nervously as she began reading through the information to try to find key words about the specific topic of precautions, before she could get swept away in the rest of the distracting information or get pulled into looking back out the much more interesting window. "Is there anything in particular you think I should try to write down and memorize the most? It's not that I'm not trying to focus or learn it, I just don't even know where to start now. I mean, didn't we go over vampires last month too? Why didn't we learn about precautions then?" She could feel her cheeks flushing with embarrassment as she admitted her struggles, but she knew she wouldn't get anywhere without a bit of help.
