He had to invite and ultimately drag Aiden into the boathouse! It was the only place where only the fish were able to eavesdrop - and as far as Vincent knew, fish didn’t have ears to begin with. The Slytherin walked along the water‘s edge, stepping over the uneven stone floor. The cold, damp surface slid a little under his soles. He immediately glared down at it, as if the ground itself were mocking him - luring him to slip. The irritation had already stolen the last scrap of his patience!
Don’t act innocent,” he growled at the floor, which in his eyes, seemed determined to trip him. Vincent glared. What happened in the boy‘s lavatory still crawled under his skin, giggling at his humiliation. Every spark of memory ran down his throat like liquid provocation, mixing in with Gabriele‘s beautiful fuc*ing brown eyes.
He let out a low grumble. Something half-intelligible came out sounding like a Scottish insult, when suddenly the door to the boathouse opened. The shrieking noise busted it.

In came his friend from the same house. The green collar lay around Aiden’s sun-kissed skin like a compliment to his complexion. Normally, Vincent wouldn’t have minded it in the slightest. But after Gabriele, even a few seconds of looking at a male body felt like undressing in front of an audience! And everyone was cheering…
Caught in the middle of this emotional chaos, Vincent let out an exasperated groan. His shoulders relaxed by force, only to stiffen again the instant he started to speak.
Hey! Thanks for coming. I have to tell you something important!” Vincent strode up to Aiden. The explanation poured out of him in seconds, his featured contorted into a face of dismay and stress.

There was this boy, such a- damn I don‘t even know an appropriate insult- he was wearing a wig and pretending to be a girl in the boys’ bathroom, and then he threw himself at me, and I almost kissed the idiot, Aiden I freaking almost kissed him!

Suddenly, silence spread through the room. Vincent’s eyes burned with unidentifiable emotions. It ranged from anger to disgust, back to frustration and shame. He searched Aiden’s face for the same outrage - but it wasn’t there. Not even a sliver of the same amount. His friend simply asked if this was the reason Vincent had summoned him all the way out to the boathouse.

Yes! I can’t talk about this in our bedroom, this is too ridiculous! What if someone else hears? I’d die. You’d have to organize a funeral before winter even starts.
Vincent took a deep breath, “I’m too young to die, Aiden…
Every word slipped out of his throat like pure truth, a logical conclusion drawn straight from the chaos labeled >‘my Heart beats too fast‘. Suddenly, a weight pressed down on his stomach. If anyone else ever heard about this, anyone who wasn’t Aiden, he might actually have to flee the country. Where would he even go? Italy? Just the thought ripped his sanity into pieces. God forbid he’d run into Gabriele there. Her- no, his- speech sounded slightly undersang by an accent. He wasn't sure from where he was, but it might be from the south of Europe. The face and the voice fought a war against his thoughts and conquered them in a heartbeat.

It scraped up the last scraps of logic and threw them to the now surely eavesdropping fish.
I don’t want to have to move! What if I meet her in Italy?!” Vincent buried his hands over his face, his fingers covering the distress in his eyes.

The boathouse. That's the place to where Vincent had decided to inconveniently summon him on wednesday morning. Aiden had initially been skeptical of this location choice for a meet up, but agreed nevertheless. Partly because he was curious to know what was so secret that it required their conversation to be inside a decaying hovel. Apart from that, Vincent had grown on him during the year and he was committed to up keeping their friendship. As he walked all the way down to the boathouse, he realized just how far it was, with only himself as company. It better be something really fucking important, Aiden thought when he finally reached the edge of the lake. Or else he would have to reconsider this friendship. Jokes aside, it hadn't been that bad.

Immediately upon arrival and stepping into the boathouse, he was accosted by a boy in green robes. Vincent, obviously. Aidens expression remained calmly neutral while listening to the boys rant. The important message in this case, was that some guy had been a very convincing crossdresser, and his friend had only realized the truth when he was about to kiss him. Almost kissed him.

That Vincent was so eager to kiss a stranger in the first place baffled him, but that wasn't important. What was important was that Vincent was clearly in distress over it and possibly confused over his own preferences. Honestly, he was being dramatic. Though Aiden would try to be as understanding as possible. "You told me to come all the way here for that?" First he had to remind him of how unreasonable he was acting, of course.

“Yes! I can’t talk about this in our bedroom, this is too ridiculous! What if someone else hears? I’d die. You’d have to organize a funeral before winter even starts. I’m too young to die, Aiden…”

"Bullshit," he chuckled lightly in exasperation. Aiden didn't bother hiding that he rolled his eyes. Now he was actually being dramatic, or perhaps just homophobic. Reading between the lines, it was not that hard to figure out that Vincent was losing his mind because he liked the person, whether he realized it or not. Though at this point he wasn't sure if it was the girl he pretended to be, or the guy behind it. "Him," Aiden corrected when Vincent misgendered his confusing crush. Even if he did move to italy, it was highly unlikely that they'd run into each other. Besides, wouldn't that be kind of better? At least no one there knew he'd been played for a fool by a guy in drag.

Aiden sighed. "Vincent, you'll be fine. It's not that bad. So, you almost kissed a guy. So what?" He shrugged like it was such a piss in the ocean that it wasn't even worth thinking about. "The more you care, the more it looks like you actually like him. Besides, if his goal was to humiliate you, I'm sure he's already running around the castle telling anyone willing to listen. You can't hide the rumors even if you tried, so you might as well get over it." He paused. "Or make up your mind about what you want."
