1 hour, 4 minutes, 27 seconds.
That’s how long she’s been navigating this over-lit, overcrowded train. The light is too bright. It floods in through every window and reflects off the chrome and plastic and glass, turning the edges of her vision into a halo of white nothing––but what she can see is worse: smudged outlines, colorless blobs blending into one another, too blurred to make out a corridor from a cart, a doorway from a stranger.
Every step she took was slow, careful, full of uncertainty as she squinted her eyes at every little thing to try to determine if what was infront of her was the floor of the train or someone’s luggage.
But not everyone was kind enough to wait for her to find her way to a compartment. Every few seconds, someone pushes past her, indifferent to how off-balance she already was. Whether it be a hard suitcase slamming into her side, or someone pushing past her, she can already feel the bruises forming.
After being jostled around like a dog’s chew toy, all Azzure wanted was to collapse into a seat and sleep the next few hours of the train ride off.
At least, that was the plan—until another shove slammed her against a compartment door, courtesy of an especially rowdy student. The impact wasn’t just uncomfortable; it was disorienting. The student seemed to be hauling a suitcase nearly as wide as an ox, a large boxy thing that seemed determined to take up the entire corridor.
Wanting a way out, Azzure pressed her palms flat against the door behind her, searching for the dip of the handle hidden in the textured wood. Her fingers fumbled for a few seconds before finding the shallow groove. She didn’t have to think twice about pulling it open––but with the door she’d been leaning on suddenly gone, she nearly pitched forward headfirst into the compartment.
Her eyes went wide, yet she still couldn’t make sense of anything around her — just spinning shapes and blinding light swallowing the space whole. She staggered forward, fighting to steady herself on uncooperative feet as the glare of the sunlight made her vision blur even more.
In the midst of all her flailing, Azzure accidentally hit the overhead storage, sending a shockwave of pain coursing through her hand. “Ow! What the hel—” she started, but her words were cut off by the sound of a latch popping open and something heavy rumbling above her. ‘Shit’.
Before she could move, it was already too late. A crushing weight slammed into her from above, the sharp corner of what felt like a suitcase dug into her ribs––pinning her to the floor and knocking the wind out of her with a loud thud.
‘Of course! How could I be so stupid!? Of course someone is already here!’ Azzure thought to herself groaning both in pain and in frustration. Just when she thought this day couldn’t get any worse, the universe had to throw the biggest f-you in her face.
Azzure tried to pry the large luggage off her, but before she could even budge it, something else plopped onto her chest, smaller than the luggage crushing her ribs, warm as if it were alive, almost light in its weight. Then it shifted, tiny claws lightly pricking through her shirt as it adjusted its weight with the self-importance of a pretentious cat.
“What the hell…” Azzure muttered. If she was disorientated before, she had absolutely no idea what was going on now.
“Uhm, hello? Is somebody here with me?? Um, can you help me get… whatever is on top of me, off?” Azzure spoke, her voice uncertain and audibly confused as she spoke to the mystery person who’s train compartment she had rudely invaded.

Each of Ara’s steps echoed off the tile of King’s Cross Station with the confidence of a girl who walked not through a train platform -- but a high fashion runway. Her polished boots, freshly shined that morning, struck the ground with a deliberate grace.
Her coat half thrown over one shoulder, glossy blue-black hair bouncing lightly with each step, and her wand tucked elegantly into the strap of her leather satchel -- the third year looked more like a fashion week dropout than a Hoggy student boarding the Hogwarts Express.
Behind her, rolling with unbothered ease, was a suitcase nearly the size of a refrigerator (a bit of a exaggeration but it was huge!). A heavy trunk floated just slightly above the ground while two additional bags swung from either shoulder. She made it look easy. Effortless. Divine. If anyone noticed the sheer weight of what she was carrying, she didn’t give them the satisfaction of knowing she felt any of it.
Most of it was clothes anyway. Who dares travel or even just go to a boarding school without half their wardrobe?
The train let out a billow of steam as she got in, hauling her things into the godforsaken train. Her eyes darted across the platform -- parents sobbing, siblings hugging, students scrambling for luggage trolleys or last-minute goodbyes. And then, finally, she spotted them across the corridor. The Villa Siblings.
Her eyes zeroed in on her brothers and sister packed into a windowed compartment like a can of dark-haired sardines. Edmund, of course, was already halfway out the door.
“Ara,” he called, walking toward her like a prefect on duty -- which of course he wasn't.
“Oh Merlin,” she groaned dramatically, pushing past another student as her trunk trailed behind her like a royal attendant. “Please don’t tell me this is the part where you give me a lecture about punctuality. You’re already boring and now you’re on time? What’s next, khaki pants and a mortgage?”
“I was going to ask if you found your seat yet, but sure, start with the dramatics.”
“I haven’t, but thanks for the concern.” She grinned. “You look like you’ve aged five years over the summer.” Edmund rolled his eyes so hard Ara was surprised they didn’t fly out of his head. “Just don’t be late to the feast, yeah? And don’t terrorize the first years.”
“No promises!” she chirped, already pivoting away, waving at Hallie slightly before going off. She darted off before he could respond, smirking. The truth was, Ara did enjoy seeing her siblings… in small, manageable doses -- preferably when she was allowed to poke fun at them and disappear before they could retaliate.
She was halfway down the corridor when Minho, her ferret, let out a high-pitched squeak from his cage. His tiny pink nose pressed against the bars, his black beady eyes looking up at Ara.
“Don’t you dare judge me,” she said, as she scanned the compartments.
Another squeak.
“Oh, shut up.”
Some compartments were stuffed. Others smelled weird. One was definitely full of first years doing icebreakers. Then, miraculously, she spotted one. Empty.
“Finally.” She shoved the door open with her foot and hoisted her trunk up with all the grace of a competitive lifter at the Olympics. No huffing. No struggle. Ara didn’t sweat. She glowed -- or at least, that’s the image she maintained at all costs.
She dragged her suitcase in, locked the door behind her, and slid into the seat with an exaggerated sigh.
“Minho, we are not speaking until you apologize for tearing my Vicuna scarf.”
Minho chirped.
“…Fine, accepted.” she huffed. "You're such a spoiled little idiot," she said sweetly, ruffling his head through the cage. “But at least you don’t try to trauma dump on strangers in the first five minutes of meeting them. That’s what makes you the best.” Wild thing to say but we're moving on. She chuckled to herself as she set the ferret’s cage beside her.
All was calm.... before the storm. Of course, that peace wouldn’t last long.
An entire tornado went into the compartment -- actually it was a person but the effects were similar. Ara initially planned on letting them sit in silence but that plan was thrown out the window immediately after the organization of the compartment got torn to shreds.
"Oi--" Before she could even lecture the presumed firstie (why were they targeting her today?), Minho's cage flung open. The blur of purple fuzz that was Minho launched like a misfired spell directly at the invader. The poor ferret was frozen with their claws out and piercing through the shirt of the poor victim -- though Ara would call Minho the victim in this situation.
"Are you out of your fucking mind!?" Her words pierced like needles that were covered in poison. "My freaking clothes!" she sprung into action of saving her poor clothes (not the right term though... those were EXPENSIVE). The blue haired girl got her suitcase and trunk off the white haired one. “Oh my god,” Ara groaned. “Minho. Get off. They could be infected.”
Minho, who also thought it'd be a great time to play dead didn't move an inch. The Slytherin girl picked him up, cradling the fur noodle drama king in her arms.
She yanked the curtains across the compartment window with dramatic finality, sealing them both away from the world. This, she thought, is the price of peace: people like this throwing themselves into your life like it’s a circus act.
“I mean -- do you just wander into people’s compartments looking like a haunted memoir cover and send flying rodents into chaos?” She gestured at Minho, who was now gently burping. “Because if that’s your thing, I would recommend therapy. Or a hobby. Or maybe a brain scan by one of those muggle things.”
She fixed the pale intruder with a very unimpressed look. “Do you need help? Should I be calling someone? Or did you just decide that being an inconvenience was your sole personality trait for the day?” Minho, still in her arms, made a tiny honk. “See? Even he agrees.”
Ara sat back down, now looking somehow more composed than ever despite the full psychological break down event that had just occurred -- mainly because she didn't want to get wrinkles being stressed out.
She was still holding her fluffy companion like he was sacred (spoiler alert: he is), she finally tilted her head at the stranger, eyes narrowed.
“Look, I get it. Some of us have an unhealed aura. But this? This is some kind of deranged performance art, and I didn’t pay for a ticket.” She added another jab. “I hope your life gets better, I really do. But please don’t ruin mine in the process.” The first part was a bit of a white lie but who cares?
Ara turned her attention back to Minho, letting her fingers run through his plush fur again. Her voice softened, a sharp contrast to the sass-laced fire she’d spat just moments ago. “Sorry, baby. The world is just full of unstable people. You’ll learn to dodge them.”RP Word Count: 1,196/200

Azzure blinked her eyes in rapid succession, as if to reassure herself that this was real. Her vision was still as good as a bat’s, but now it came with the added difficulty of being berated in one ear. The animosity in the girl’s voice—sharp, unfiltered—only served to disorient her further.
'Does everybody in the world talk like supervillains?'
Her breath hitched as she shifted, wincing when the movement sent a fresh throb through her ribs. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize the compartment was occupied. I thought— I mean, the door was open, and—” Azzure blurted out, the apology tumbling out on instinct.
Her explanation faltered as something unfamiliar surfaced through the noise. A name.
Azzure paused. She’d mentioned Minho. Carefully, she repeated it, testing the sound. “Is… is that your name?”
The soft rustling of clothes drew Azzure's attention back to the ferret. In the throws of her embarrassment, a gentle concern for the small animal reared its head.
“Is— is your pet alright? I didn’t mean to frighten him. I promise.” Azzure asked, her voice softening despite herself. As she spoke, she pushed at the trunk pinning her down, trying to ease the sharp edge digging into her side.
Azzure kept rambling, as if silence might make things worse.
“This was terribly improper of me,” Azzure continued, heat creeping into her cheeks. “My eyesight isn’t very good in bright places, please forgive me.”
Azzure waited for a response. The silence stretched impossible long. It twisted into a knot in her stomach, uncomfortable and unresolved
“…I can leave, if— If you want.” Azzure offered at last, quietly. Azzure hesitated, fingers curling into the fabric at her side. “I just— I can’t see well enough to find the door on my own. Not without risking another mess... and also I'm not strong enough to get this trunk off me, sorry."
