Setting: Hogwarts Library, Astronomy Section mid afternoon

The library had to be one of the most fantastic places that anyone could possibly visit at Hogwarts. Walking through the doors and seeing shelves upon shelves and books from the floor to the ceiling could make Brighton feel as though he was stepping through time and into other worlds.
Brighton had an interest in two subjects: Astronomy and Care of Magical Creatures. Today though, he wanted to search the shelves and learn about Astronomy. Sure, he will be eventually taking classes on the subject but at the same time, why not read about Astronomy for fun? He had a specific interest in constellations and the stories behind them. Wait, would that be considered Astrology? Or maybe it connects to both? Either way, he wanted to just enjoy the peace and quiet of reading.
Brighton sat his satchel at an empty chair near the window and started to walk through the line of books, his fingers feeling the leather binding of the books that were years or even centuries years old. Memories came flooding back with his father. Brighton and his father would sit in his bedroom and open the windows, gazing at a full moon with stars as far as the eye could see. His father would point out constellations and would tell stories about them.

After lunch, if Victoria didn’t have anything to keep her busy, she liked to go to the library and read until nightfall. Today was no exception. As she made her way toward the library, she clutched her tote bag tightly, scanning the space for a quiet place to settle down.
The library was nearly full, yet still hushed, as students were immersed in their homework. Victoria spotted an empty table with only a bag on it. She sighed — it was the quietest spot she could find. Hopefully, whoever had claimed the table wouldn’t mind sharing.
She set her bag down gently, then stood up again to head toward the astronomy section.
She loved astronomy, probably too much. But what could she do? Her second name was Moon, and she was sure that it wasn't just a coincidence.
There was a boy already there, seemingly around her age. He had striking red hair and skin as pale as snow. She didn’t know him, but he didn’t seem like the unfriendly type. She considered talking with him for a moment, he seemed into the astronomy after all. Maybe she just found someone she can talk about her books.
Still, her mind was focused on finding a book. The boy seemed deep in thought,so she cleared her throat softly to get his attention.
“Would you mind moving, if you’re finished here? I need to grab a book.” She mumbled, her voice is calm yet kind as she watched him with her cold blue eyes. She was getting impatient, and she wanted to grab a book and dive into the pages as soon as possible.

Brighton had paused when his finger had stopped on a book that had a familiar title to it. He pulled it from the shelve gingerly as he could. Books were very important to him. He enjoyed reading just as much as he enjoyed being adventurous and running off into the woods. Looking upon the title, it was a copy of Atlas of Celestial Anomalies by M. P. N. Carneirus. He flipped open the cover, feeling the parchment of the book and it immediately took him back to his mother's bookshop. The benefit of having a mother own a bookshop was having the chance to read books without actually having to purchase them. A way to cheat the system? That depends on who you'd ask.
Brighton placed the book down on a table before him and flipped through the pages. Chapters were connected to topics like the Omega Centauri, Spiral Galaxy, Omega Nebula, and Spiral Arm. There was also a chapter on the Solstice which was another topic of interest. Before he could really dive into anything, there was something approaching from the corner of his eye. It was a girl, about similar height to him and appearance of someone close to his age. She had cleared her throat and lifted up fully from the text.
"Oh, sorry," Brighton said quietly. He picked up the book and stepped out of the way for her to walk by. He turned and noticed a second bag near his. "Is that your bag?" He asked, If so, I can move mine if you need some more room at the table. When I sit to study, I tend to take up a lot of space." Even though he hadn't taken anything out of his bag. He then asked, "Any book you need help looking for?" he also asked.

Victoria paused for a few seconds in silence, surprised by the boy’s polite demeanor. Then she quickly gathered herself and gave a small nod.
“It’s alright, I suppose you were just lost in your book,” she said, her voice slightly louder than a whisper—quiet enough not to disturb anyone in the library, but still clear enough for the boy to hear.
There was something about him that made her feel an unexpected fondness, though she couldn’t quite explain it. It was ridiculous—she’d never seen him before. But the astronomy book in his hands had already made her like him a little too easily.
She nodded again in response to his question. “Yes, that’s my bag. Sorry, the library’s pretty crowded today. I couldn’t find another spot.”
Victoria didn’t know why she felt the need to explain herself. Something about this boy softened the usual distance she liked to keep. But she quickly pulled herself together; her blue doe eyes returned to their usual distant, guarded expression.
“It’s fine,” she said again when the red-haired boy offered to move his bag. Her tone was polite, but cool. “I’m not studying, just reading. I won’t need much space. Thank you, though.”
She glanced toward the astronomy section. She’d already read most of the books there.
“I assume you’re into astronomy,” she said quietly. Though she tried not to seem too open or friendly, the flicker of excitement in her eyes was just barely visible.
“Is there a book you’d recommend?”

Brighton nodded with a smile, "Well, as a Ravenclaw I'd assume it's safe to say we tend to get lost in a book every now and then." The girl had a calm demeanor from what Brighton could tell. He had met a few other students and many of them were very loud. Nothing wrong with that but then again, they were in a library where it was required to be quiet. Brighton couldn't imagine what would happen if anyone came running through here yelling.
Brighton nodded, at her reply about her bag. He was one that didn't like to be in big crowds when reading. When Brighton had a book, he wanted to be isolated as much as possible. It wasn't an issue when there was one or two people around him but he also had a tendency to up and leave if he felt that he was becoming to distracted by others. "No problem," Brighton replied, "I'm up for sharing. Although, if a lot of people start coming in you may see me go off and hide. The larger the group, the struggle I have to read." Brighton didn't seem to have to worry though if a large group came, he had a feeling this girl wanted to be in a quiet place as well. The girl had also mentioned that she was just here to read and she didn't need too much space for the table.
"That's right." Brighton answered at her assumption. Although he had never been asked for a book recommendation. Then again, before Hogwarts, Brighton had a pretty small social group and many of the books he read were books that many others were not interested in. "A book that I'd recommend? Well, that depends what you are specifically interested in. For me, it's constellations." Brighton then put an index finger to his cheek and thought. "There is one book that comes to mind. Follow me."
Brighton went back towards the table and on the opposite side of the aisle, he noticed the title Gateway to the Far Stars. He pulled the book off the shelve and handed it to the girl. "Here, this is called Gateway to the Far Stars. It's your essential text when it comes to constellations. Otherwise, I'd suggest this one." Brighton held up the other book he had, the one titled Atlas of Celestial Anomalies. "Do you have a preference in topic when it comes to Astronomy?"

"The larger the group, the more I struggle to read."
Victoria bit her cheek to keep from smiling. That sentence could have easily come from her own mouth. Maybe she could get along with this boy after all? She composed herself and looked at him calmly, but inside, she was slightly thrilled. Before Hogwarts, her family hadn’t exactly encouraged her to speak freely with children her age, so finding someone she might actually connect with here felt... wonderful.
"Actually," Victoria began softly, "when it comes to astronomy, I'm not too picky."
Her voice was gentle now, the frost she usually carried beginning to melt. Books and astronomy were her soft spots, and even if she couldn’t quite admit it to herself yet, she really wanted to be friends with this boy.
"But if I had to choose something specific," she added, "I enjoy reading theories. Trying to evaluate and disprove astronomical theories—it’s fascinating to me."
She didn’t want to overwhelm him by talking too much, nor reveal too much about herself too soon. Victoria was confused by her own behavior; normally she didn’t speak this much. Typically, she would sit quietly, wait for the other person to finish talking, and then politely return to her own corner. But now, she’d found someone who shared her interests, and it was becoming harder and harder to keep her usual cold distance.
She quietly followed the boy, her thoughts swirling.
Should she open up and try to be friends? Or should she do as her father had always warned—keep a safe distance from everyone?
"Constellations, huh..." she murmured, clearly impressed. She liked reading about constellations too.
"I've read Atlas of Celestial Anomalies. You have good taste."
Victoria took the book he handed her with care. Gateway to the Far Stars.
"I’ve never seen this one before," she said more to herself than to him.
The book was worn, clearly read many times.
"Thank you, I’ll definitely read it."
She stood silently for a few seconds, then hesitantly glanced at him.
"..If I’m not bothering you—may I know your name?"
As soon as she asked, she swallowed nervously. Why had she said that?
She should’ve just taken the book and read quietly.
And yet, she waited, eyes full of quiet curiosity, hoping for his answer.
