Date: Summer break, before camp begins.
Kazimir was strolling just outside of the London Quidditch Stadium enjoying some fresh air while his father conducted some business with the property manager. Well, stomping around was a more accurate description as the part-giant's feet slapped against the ground. It was the boy's first time to the England. He had accompanied his father outside of Russia before, but this time he would be out of the country for an extended time. The plan would have been for Kazi to spend the summer with his mother in their mountain village, but since Koldovstoretz had adopted the policy of allowing half-breeds to attend the school he now had been invited to the international summer camp in London. It had been quite the heated debate, but his parents had eventually agreed to let Kazimir spend most of the summer with his father. Kazi was part-human as well and his family thought it best to get to know the international community a bit more.

So, here the boy was, taking in the air outside of the magnificent stadium. For the most part Kazi's eyes stayed glued to the skies as he continued to look up at the outer wall. He had seen impressive stadiums before, but this one was truly massive, even for a part-giant like himself! What he wouldn't give for a chance to fly around the pitch and given his role on the Koldovstoretz quidditch team, he may very well get his chance. Just wait until they got their eyes on the boy who was already teetering over six feet tall and preferred to ride a bewitched tree over some dainty broom. Kazimir chuckled to himself at the thought of it. A deep, rumbling laugh escaped his lips as he could almost feel the beater's bat in his hand now. He hoped to be a terror!

Just then some passing clouds parted to let the summer sun shine again. Kazimir shielded his eyes from the light with his massive hands and looked away from the brightness, but as he did he noticed a bit of a sparkle on the ground. Curious...the boy wondered what it could be. A bit of treasure perhaps? His lips split into a wide and toothy grin as he approached and slowly lowered himself down into a squat. Large fingers handled the jewelry with a surprising gentleness. An earring by the looks of it! A pretty, shiny thing at that! But alas, only one. His gray-green eyes looked around him, but he saw no other. A mystery...

Claire's père was doing some business in the area, so he was going to take her to summer camp so her mother could stay home and watch the twins. She cracked a little smile at the thought of her little brothers. Louis and Paul could always put a smile on her face. They had been extremely happy to see her after being so long apart. Claire smiled again. She couldn't help it; her brothers always made her very happy.
Her father had suggested a little walk in the stadium to stretch their legs. Claire readily agreed. Now, Père had said that he needed to chat with the head about his job and stuff. But, she wasn't really listening because she thought she had just lost her earing!
It was true! Claire had felt her left ear to make sure. "Père, I think I lost my earing! Can I look for it while you are talking? Please?" Claire begged. "Sure," he agreed. "Just stay where I can see you, honey,"
Claire promised, and started backtracking the steps of their walk. She tried to remember what earrings she had been wearing that day. Claire switched everyday, so it was hard to remember what ones she was currently wearing. Then she got it! Her sapphire petal rose crystal centered flower studs! Hmph! I really liked that pair! she thought a little grumpily. I better find the missing one. A tear pricked her eye, but she was determined not to cry over something as puny as this.
Then Claire stopped in her tracks! She had forgotten what her mother had taught her. Her mère said that when you lose an earing, that you should stop moving and search your hair. It is a good chance that the backing piece would be there. Claire flipped her hair to her left. Nothing. She flipped her hair to her right.
There it was! A glint of gold fell to the ground. Claire bent down to pick it up and then shove it deep in her wand pocket, because she had no other pocket and didn't want to lose it. She figured the earing came out because it wasn't in very good and from all the walking. Oh how Claire hoped it was here, because if it was somewhere else she didn't have a chance of getting it back. Here she had a sliver, at least! She didn't want to lose her other one, so she took it out too, and crammed it in her wand pocket as well.
Claire was so busy looking down that she bumped into someone. A boy. A tall boy. "Sorry," she said in English, as was her habit, because more people spoke English than French. "It was all my fault. I wasn't looking where I was going," Claire for a second forgot about her earing, as she loved to meet someone new.

Given Kazimir's unique parentage, the boy was not only very tall, he was very strong. At only eleven years old he had the power of a full grown man if not a bit more. He'd never have the strength of a full blooded giant like his mother and half-sister, but when Claire bumped into him while he was squatting down it did little to affect his stance. Kazi looked over his shoulder to see what who had blundered into him and when he did the boy saw a blonde with a classic good looks. The girl looked like a fairy out of one of his bed time stories. She was a pretty, shiny thing too!

Kazimir rose from his squatting position to stand at his full height. If Claire wasn't too tall he would probably tower over her, but in between his large index finger and thumb he would still gently be holding the lost earring. However, in the excitement of meeting a new person, Kazi too forgot all about it for a moment. When she apologized she spoke in an accent that sounded French and he wondered if she was a witch from Beauxbatons! Kazimir had traveled with his father before, but that was mostly around Russia and Eastern Europe. What a joy it would be to see the chateau that was home to so many witches and wizards.

"It's...ok." Kazi answered back in his own heavily accented voice. It was clear that he was Russian, but there was also a gravely, deep rumbling to his voice that marked him as something else as well. "What are you doing here? Are you going to camp too? Are you French?" The boy had a tendency to ramble a bit when excited, but he talked at a slow pace.

Claire smiled a bit at the string of questions. But, she didn't care. It was perfectly fine to be curious. In fact people were more likely to be curious of her, since she was out of her home country.
Claire was a bit curious of him too. He spoke in some kind of slow Russian voice, with some other accent she had never heard of. Mabie he went to Koldovstoretz. At second glance he didn't look quite normal. But, Claire didn't care. She was happy to meet someone new.
"Yes, your right, I am French. I go to Beauxbatons. And I am going to camp. My father is taking me," she said pointing to his silhouette. Then she added, realizing that she had forgotten about the 'Why are you here' question "My father had something important to tell the owner of this place," Claire finished. But, that hadn't been strictly true. She wasn't paying very close attention, because she had lost her earing. Her earing! Claire had forgotten. She needed to get back to searching!
"I'm going to have to go now," she said trying to conclude the conversation. "I lost something of mine, and I believe it is somewhere here. I need to go look for it," Claire said trying to politely excuse herself. "Oh, I'm Claire by the way," she finished, as she was about to leave.
She started to walk away, continuing her search of scanning the ground. She bent over, because she saw something shiny, but it was only a beetle. Claire sighed. She was probably never going to get the earing back. But at least she had the other one, so mabie it could be a pin.

The pair of them had something in common when it came to meeting new people. Kazimir had never been a shy boy and he was always happy to meet new people. Coming from such a close knit community was great because he had lots of family and friends to count on, but it did mean that his exposure to different people was rather limited. That had all changed when his parent had agreed to allow Kazi to accompany his father while traveling for business and it had really opened up his world quite a bit. Then came his acceptance to Koldovstoretz and he got to meet even more people! It had turned Kazi into quite the social butterfly, even if he was quite a bit different than most of the people he met.

Kazimir clapped his large hands together and let out another deep and rumbling chuckle when she confirmed that she was French and did go to Beauxbatons. "Wonderful!" The boy had read about the school and seen pictures of the beautiful chateau tucked away in the Pyrenees. "You're school is so pretty." The shimmering white stones of the building looked dazzling against the mountainous backdrop. Quite a bit different from the yurts and cottages that made up his own school. "Ah, my father is here too. Wants to put old art in there." Kazi pointed to the very obvious building next to them. It was a simple way to describe his father's work, but that was just the way he thought about things.

Kazimir would frown as the girl explained she needed to leave. They were just meeting each other and already it had come to an end. However, his spirits would lift again when she claimed to have lost something and needed to search for it. "I'm Kazimir!" His voice boomed with excitement. "Can I help you look?" The boy loved a good scavenger hunt and they could talk a bit more too. Hopefully she would agree as he followed after her! "What are you looking for?"

Claire looked up from her bending position to answer him. Then she straightened up all the way, when she realized that there would be a lot to say. Now, she was completely standing up straight. "Sure, if you wouldn't mind helping me look for it," she accepted.
"My other earing is what I am looking for. I lost it when my father and I were walking," she said, informing him what they were looking for. Claire figured that it must not have been in there good when she hurriedly put in in that morning. She was trying to quickly get done getting ready to leave, because they were running late. It must have fallen out during her walk-break with her father.
Claire reached deep into her wand pocket, past her wand, to show him the earing that she had left. Good, the backing piece is still here, she thought, relieved, when she felt the tiny piece safely in the bottom of her pocket. She was a little bit worried that if she found the earing that then the backing would be missing! Then, she would be on a continuous goose-chase. But, that eased her worries, because there was definitely no hole in the bottom of her pocket, and the piece was still there.
Claire lifted the sapphire petal rose crystal centered flower stud out of her pocket and laid it right-side-up in the center of her hand. "This is what it looks like," she informed Kazimir. Even though there wasn't likely to be any other earrings on the ground, it was still polite to show someone what you are talking about, if you can. Anyway, she liked to show people her earrings, but preferably safely on her ears and having both of them where she knew where they were.
Thinking that way would accomplish nothing. Claire had to think positive. She returned to her slow walk while scanning the ground for anything shiny. Now, with both of them looking it was more likely to be found quickly. After all, she had once heard someone foreign say, 'Two heads are better than one!'

Kazimir's gray-green eyes flashed with excitement when Claire agreed to let him help in her search for this mysterious missing object. It reminded him of growing up in his village, high up in the Ural Mountains. There weren't very many modern accommodations, so play time was mostly made up of going outside and using his imagination. He remembered fondly having his family hide little trinkets throughout the village for him to chase down and find. No one tried harder than Kazi! The boy would spend hours searching high and low for them all and he'd do the same thing now for Claire.

"Don't worry. Kazimir is on the case!" He said with another rumbling chuckle as he stood back to his full height. Surely a few heads taller than Claire. The excitement of it all made him forget that he had just picked up a shiny little object, so when she said that an earring was lost it did not register right away. "It is very pretty." Kazimir responded when Claire held up the earring for him to see. The sapphire caught the light in just the right way to make it twinkle. It reminded him of some of the jewelry his family wore back home. They didn't have anything as sophisticated as the piece Claire had, but blue was a popular color among the tribe. Many of the giants used it to decorate their homes or even the face paint they wore for ceremonies. "Mother loves this color." The thought made him smile.

When Claire began to slowly pace the grounds, Kazi would follow suit. He took as small of steps as possible so that he didn't easily outpace her. His hands went to clasp each other behind his back as he turned his gaze back to the ground, but it was just then that he felt the small piece of metal in his hand! "OH!" His voice boomed with excitement as he remembered. "Pretty, shiny thing!" Kazi's giant hand opened to reveal the other earring in his massive palm. "Look, I find before! You believe that?!" He would kneel down so that Claire could clearly see it and retrieve it from his grasp.

Claire smiled a little, to herself at his willingness to help. To him, it seemed like hunting for missing objects was fun and exciting! Claire disagreed. She found it stressful, because you might never get the thing back. But, it must be harder for him to see tiny things on the ground, because he was taller than her.
If she was having trouble finding the earing, than he definitely would. The closer you were to the ground, the more likely you were to find it. But, she didn't care. Claire always appreciated company when doing something boring/not fun. And, the more people helped the faster it was finished, both truly and just things seemed to go faster with company to her.
"Blue is my favorite color too," she said in response to Kazimir's comment about his mother liking the color too. Claire could see why she did. Blue is a light pretty color. It can be for boys and girls, but Claire considered it more of a girl color, if colors were assigned genders. Blue is also for water and sky in the world.
She got distracted of her rambling thoughts about why she liked the color blue, by Kazimir talking to her. He had found her other earing! He had had it the whole time! Her eyes got sparkly with gratitude. "Merci- Oh, thank you so much!" she said almost thinking him in French, but remembering just in time!
She grinned, a genuine one, and not one of her meeting-people ones. Then, Claire stared off to the side as she retrieved the three pieces she already had out of her pocket and put them in her ears. She made sure she put them in tight so she wouldn't lose them again. Claire could do a much better job with a mirror, but she wanted them all four pieces safely in her ears as soon as possible.
She looked up again, to him. "Thank you again! Oh, where did you even find it?" she said the first question she thought of. Now, that her earing was found, they could get back to their lovely chat, and not be distracted.

Scavenger hunts and tracking down missing items did come with a risk. You very well may not find what you were looking for and it would become lost to you for good. However, that thrill of the chase is what made it so exciting for Kazimir and it’s what fueled him in trying to find lost items. If he ever stopped daydreaming of being a star quidditch player, perhaps he would make a decent detective. The boy certainly had the drive for it as he could become borderline obsessed in completing his tasks. One time his older brother had hidden an object so well from Kazi that it took the boy three days to track it down, but he persevered nonetheless!

Kazimir laughed with appreciation when Claire claimed blue as her favorite color too! His mother always said that blue often represented tranquility and peace, but he thought that was a bit odd coming from a giant considering her temper was legendary. However, others said it could represent honesty and loyalty too. That made much more sense to him in regards to his family. They would do anything for Kazimir! “Ah. Blue to match you eyes!” Claire had the most crystal blue eyes he had ever seen. “What do you like most about blue? What does it mean for you?” Colors could represent anything really, but he was curious to know her mind more.

Kazi couldn’t help himself from laughing more when Claire seemed so happy that he had found the earring! That was another thing he loved about finding lost things, it always made people overjoyed. “You’re welcome!” Kazi clapped his large hands together in celebration of the moment. “The sun was shining and a just saw a little sparkle on the ground. Picked it up!” He watched as she replaced the jewelry in her ears and he felt fulfilled having been able to help a new friend.

That did mean that they could carry on with their conversation, but what to ask about first! Kazimir had so many questions when it came to meeting new people. There was one that he simply couldn’t wait to ask though. “Can you tell me of Beauxbatons? Is it as pretty as the pictures?”

Sorry, I'm late.
Claire thought for a minute. It was hard to explain to someone else why she thought she liked blue so much. Blue was the earth. But most people thought if the world was designated a color that it would be green. Green for trees and plants. To Claire that made no sense. There was more water than land in the world.
Blue also had several different meanings in the natural world. Dark blue was for water. Turquoise-blue was for water on a bright sunny day. Black-blue was for almost dark. And, there was Claire's favorite, light blue! Light blue was perfect for endless sky.
Blue also had some abstract meanings for Claire. Blue was a color for boys and girls. Blue was peaceful and made you calm. She guessed that blue was a very versatile color. Then she remembered that an answer was expected of her.
Claire finally spoke, "I don't know, I guess I like blue because it has several different roles in nature. The sky is blue and so is water. It is kind of a peaceful calming color." She usually didn't get nervous or embarrassed about what she said. But, now she did. Claire quickly answered Kazimir's next question.
Oh, it is a beautiful four floor château with a big garden to walk in when you have some free time, she said answering not very good, because she was still a bit embarrassed. But Claire had calmed down thinking about her old mountain school. Beauxbatons was truly a beautiful school. Once, Claire had ridden a broom slightly above her school, she saw an above view of it. It was a whitish simi flat space with a lush green lump in front of it. Claire smiled at the thought. Beauxbatons was about a relaxing as her home to think about.
