“We must be almost done by now, surely.”

Puck’s mother had a bag, filled to the brim with books and robes and a cauldron (the lady in the shop had been nice enough to make it lighter for them), and just about every little odd and end she’d decided they could possibly need. They’d offered to carry something but she seemed quite determined that they not touch anything, having said something about it being ‘the last thing she could do for them for a while’.

Currently, the two were standing to the side, and Puck was dragging their eyes down the piece of paper in hand, looking for anything that hadn’t yet been scratched off the list…

“A wand!” and of course that’s what it was, they’d seen people waving around sticks all day, but with the newness and everything else it had slipped their mind, and imagine that! They were going to a wizard school, to become a wizard, and wave around a magic wand, next thing they were going to be told they had to fly around on a broomstick! Puck gazed excitedly down the street, where would they find a wand…

About three shops down stood a dark little store, the name ‘Ollivander’s across the front. Coming out the door was a boy who looked about their age, grasping a thin, dark sti- wand, so that’s where they had to go. Tugging their mother along excitedly they pushed the door open, heading inside…

A silver-haired man greeted them, appearing from amongst the shelves and stacks of boxes. Rather than a greeting he seemed to look Puck over, muttered “I see”, nodded and then disappeared back into the recesses of his store. He came charging back excitedly a few minutes later, handing them a long, light brown wand which shook a little in Puck’s hand before promptly being pulled out of it, replaced with another. Dark black, the sides carved to twist in, it was beautiful, and promptly sent a stack of boxes tumbling to the floor, being immediately replaced. Puck didn’t really know what was happening, only that each one placed into their hand felt -on some level- just wrong. That is- until their fingers curled around something absolutely gorgeous, and the sensation like they were glowing thrummed through their veins.

“20,2 cm cherry wood and unicorn hair. It’s stiff, very powerful but… very hard to use, and incredibly selective and particular about the wizard it chooses”.

The first words he’d spoken since they entered and Puck could barely pay attention, almost intoxicated with the absolute feeling racing through them. Something felt rightened. A disconnection re-established. An absence filled. Like they’d found the last piece to a puzzle they hadn’t even known they were building.

Extra Notes:
Reducio
A hint into the possibility of the magical world becoming the first place Puck fits into (or setting up for disappointment if they don't meet the right people)

Diagon Alley Part One: In Plain Sight
Diagon Alley Part Two: Books 'N Things
Outfit:

Black jeans with white owls embroidered on the pockets (next to which, in slightly shaky beginner's stitching is the name 'Alice') and a Self Deception tour shirt.
Puck's got a denim jacket over the top, littered with pins, and a well-worn pair of cons, splattered with paint. Their hair is tied up in what could be described as a 'man bun', with a few of the shorter curls hanging 'round their ears.
