Lorraine found herself laying on her bed back in their usually spotless manor. But today, the whole place was unkempt, the carpets were dirty, her vanity messy and the floor had at least an inch thick of dust. But... summer vacation wasn't supposed to be today yet...

She sat up and glanced at the window, it was foggy, eerie and dark. Lorraine shivered, crossed the room and made to open the door but it was already cracked open as though someone was forcefully breaking it down. She peeked outside and saw a very creepily empty hallway. Lorraine cautiously made her way downstairs, no one to be seen, then

Shatter

Lorraine jumped in fright and backed down from the kitchen. Reluctantly, she crossed the large room and made to open the door quietly. She glanced inside and saw her mother, a twisted smile on her face as she made her way to Lorraine, did something she never expected to do her own daughter, Lorraine woke up in her dorm room, perfectly fine and sweating. It was just a dream, a stupid dream...

T'was a particularly rainy afternoon. Lorraine had just gotten out of her cold shower, her hair damp and her face wet. She dug on her trunk and extracted a small piece of parchment that read 'Call Me, Lyon, France - XOXO, Margaux'.

It's been so long since she'd saw her childhood best friend, well not exactly best friend, but she was the only friend that she knew liked her for who she was, not where she was from nor which family. Lorraine paced in her dorm for an hour before deciding to send a letter.

But what if she'd find it... strange for an owl to arrive to her room?

These words kept hanging on the back of her head as she made her way up to the Owlery. No., a defiant voice replied, that was the only time she'd actually sided with it. Of course she'd get accepted to a wizarding school too, she racked her brain trying to remember what those wizarding schools were. Beauxbatons, that was the name!

She ran to the Owlery and scribbled Margaux's name, together with the school, and a small letter:
Dear Margaux,

How are you? I want to tell you secret; I'm a witch.

I hope you are too...

Best Wishes,
Lorraine Hawkes

The first month at Beauxbatons had been ...something. She'd gotten on the quidditch team, which was a huge surprise for her as she hates flying, interestingly, she also has few friends in the whole school, among dozens of students, she didn't even once try to approach them.

Maybe they thought she seemed like an introvert or something, which was true but also very wrong.

Margaux was laid, spread-eagled, her delicate, pale hands gripping the satin, white linen on her bed. She was staring at the ceiling in disgust, as though it had said something to insult her, it was normal for Margaux to do this, she preferred to be alone almost at all times, reluctant to even go to the dining to eat and always insisted to have her food delivered to her room.

All this happened after the age of ten, something... happened. The death of her great aunt, Ravia, someone she was very close to. Margaux fell into a deep depression and wouldn't talk to anyone for weeks and spent her time shut up in her room, neglecting her duties, her private flute practice, weekend choir, even school. The only times when she left her bedroom was when she would get food, her eyes would be swollen and puffy, sniffing and occasionally stumbling on her own feet.

But for today, it was something else. She'd been battling herself on whether or not she'd contact her long-distanced best friend, Lorraine Hawkes, but why?

Just then a large clump of something shot into her dorm window, Margaux sat up like she sat on something pointy, the mysterious item had landed on her open drawer. She approached it cautiously and a large, brown barn owl shot up and landed on her perfectly smooth silk sheets.

It gave a small hoot and showed it's legs, a letter was tied to it. Margaux slowly untied the rope and the barn owl flew to her bedside table and started nibbling on a small stack of toast she'd prepared to eat. She smiled softly at the owl before cautiously reading the letter's contains.
To : Margaux Lucosthe, Beauxbatons

Dear Margaux,

How are you? I want to tell you secret; I'm a witch.

I hope you are too...

Best Wishes,
Lorraine Hawkes
Though the letter was short, it took Margaux a while to finally register the carefully wrote, blue letters etched onto the slightly yellow parchment.

Lorraine was a witch.

That was the only thing she could manage to think of. Margaux smiled gleefully at the owl before giving it the letter sealed with a dark red stamp that read:
To: Lorraine Hawkes, Hogwarts

Cordialement, Margaux Lucosthe
It was french but Margaux knew that Lorraine could understand it fairly well, it was like a secret code that only the two of them knew, well, them and the rest of the french speaking population anyways.

Dear Lorraine,

Greetings from France, Beauxbatons! I hope that answers your prayers, because I am a witch! How is it there?

Beauxbatons is beautiful by the way, I also got into the quidditch team! I'm a chaser, which is good because I reckon that I can aim well...

Yours Truly,
Margaux Lucosthe
