Yes. You can. Lots of people actually do this. For example, a famous couple Simon and AF are dating IC and my characters (Avery and Dylan) will be dating people in their upcoming second year. I suggest posting a request in the RPG Partner Requests and playing out a storyline so your character gets to know whoever you decide your character dates.
