Whispers of the Forgotten
═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Exploring the entirety of the castle was a Herculean task.
Lyssandra had already found and memorized the routes of certain places that held her interest since before she stepped foot on the school grounds. Of course, there were moments when she found herself lost that certain friendly portraits and ghosts, were more than happy to lead her back to a hall with her peers or perhaps back to a “friendlier looking” corridor.
This time, however, her destination was already set in stone.
She treads carefully up the moving staircases as she finds herself before the legendary bathroom.
Steeling her resolve, she enters and takes in her entire surroundings carefully.
It has been said that this was the location of the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets. The stories of ages past, of great horrors and valor were what led her to venture forth.
Quiet and careful steps…
It was as eerie as one could expect an abandoned bathroom to be. Yet, if she closed her eyes, she felt as if the room was more than welcome to show her what had transpired all those years ago.
A drop of water ricochets all around her.
“Miss Myrtle?” She calls out to its constant resident.
“Miss Myrtle, are you there? I am Lyssandra Navarus and I would like to look around.”
No answer.
Oh well…
Ironic how a supposed haunted bathroom feels more haunted without its ghost.
Still, there was a bit of exploring to do. As a small token meant to serve as a payment for her disturbance of the peace, she places a small bouquet on the floor before she begins to fully look around.
“Argentus might want to hear of this.” She says to only her reflection against the aged mirror on the sink. There were a few signs of life. Smudged… somethings on the walls she approached, handprints, remains of abandoned or hastily discarded potions, and even some footprints.
A crunch against her shoes made Lyssandra flinch, eye looking down on broken mirror shards and other debris.
“Should I mention this as a safety risk to a professor?” Lyssandra takes a few steps back—
“Oh!” Her foot stepped on something slimy and slippery. Lyssandra grabbed the nearest thing she could grab, which was a tap, and held on before she could fully twist her ankle and hurt herself. Her ears filled with cotton and her heart fluttered erratically, a cold washed over her before she felt her body flush—both from almost cracking her skull open and saving herself the embarrassment of slipping on some mess left behind by the bathroom’s visitors.
“That would’ve been terrible…” Lyssandra mutters as she allows herself to catch her breath. Carefully, several levels more than when she entered the bathroom, Lyssandra regained her balance and decided to relax her grip on the old tap.
The tap…
Navy blue eyes widened at what she was holding on to. Though it was dark, there was a shape against her fingers that made her breath hitch.
“No way…” As though she were electrified, Lyssandra removed her hand and stared at it in awe.
Surely not…?
Licking her lips, she reaches for the tap again and lets her fingers run against—
“Argentus is going to lose his mind…” She takes a few steps back, far more mindful than before so she does not slip again, and almost covers her mouth when she remembers what she was touching not even a minute ago.
Reminding herself to wash her hands once she finds a functioning tap and some soap, Lyssandra takes one last look at the sink and exits the bathroom with another thing to write home about.
