Dylan took a deep breath as he stood there on the sidewalk. His grey jacket fluttering in the breeze. He paid little mind to it though. Too much was on his mind. Thoughts constantly plagued him. So much in fact that he could barely stand straight as a headache tried to creep into his head. It was torture being here in summer and not knowing. He knew he would finally go home tomorrow and be free, but that didn't mean he wasn't terrified. Honestly? He didn't know what to think about going home. He knew he should be excited as well as happy, which he was, but other thoughts plagued him. Thoughts such as was going home really the best thing after everything that had happened over Spring Break. He still had nightmares about that day. The day that his life changed forever over Spring Break. No matter what he did, he couldn't forget the sound of Avery's screams as they watched in horror. Dylan shivered out of his stupor. He couldn't waste his last day in America for the summer. He at least had to do something other than staring at a wall in the middle of New York City! He was in one of the busiest cities in America, yet he somehow felt completely alone. Like no one standing or walking around him would be able to understand how he felt. He glanced up for a moment when he felt someone watching him. The second he looked up, he froze. He knew that face. She had barely left his thoughts since they had first met the day after the Spring Ball. Valentin. She was still as pretty as he remembered, if not prettier. He gave her a small wave and said, "Hi Valentin. It's nice to see you again. What brings you to America?" His cheeks burned a light red as he straightened his shoulders. He had to at least look somewhat presentable.

Val had been in NYC with her aunt for the whole break, the trip here exhausting, the ratings ten outta tens! Val loved the place, it was gorgeous and so metro, and she enjoyed it a lot. It was the last day, and she was strolling around the town. She had gotten coffee and some sweets cause why not. As she was about to head home, she noticed someone familiar. It was Dylan! She met him the day after the ball, and since then she has been thinking about him. Dylan was a cute boy in Val's opinion, and he was also very nice. She loved talking with him, and she always got this feeling when he was around. The feeling of relief, nervousness, and joy, there were no words to describe Dyl. She wasn't shocked to see him in New York, 'cause he had told her he was from America. Val started walking towards him and noticed he looked up. She waved at him and smiled at him. "Hello Dylan! I was seeing my aunt and my cousin here in NY. I was on a walk and was getting some snacks, and I noticed you! Which is a good thing ofc"

"That sounds like fun! I'm glad I bumped into you. This is actually my last day in America for the summer. I'm going back home to Wales to spend some time with my grandparents. We would have left yesterday, but my mom had to work. "You said you were getting snacks? Do you mind if I come too? I've got nothing else to do anyway." " Dylan smiled at her. Dylan rarely ever spoke so much, but something about Valentin made him feel comfortable. Like he could tell her everything and she would be there to listen. She was also very pretty. Her hair shining even in the overcast grey sky of New York. She was like a beacon of light lighting up everyone that she came across. Well, she did light up his day. Dylan snapped his head up at the sound of horns blaring. He still wasn't used to the constant hustle and bustle of muggle New York City even though he had lived there since he was eight. He guessed it was probably because he was used to living in a calm and quiet village of wizards and witches in Swansea. It was a lot less busy there and people were absolutely more patient when in a hurry.

Val giggled slightly at the way Dylans head snapped at the horn. She was used to it as being a half-blood and having a muggle dad. She took out her pair of silver headphones, and placed it on Dyl's head to block out the noise. "Better?" Val looked at him with soft eyes.

Val hadn't always been a ball of sunshine, she wasn't always squishy. Actually she isn't she only is for Dyl. There was something about him that drew her in, not his looks his personality. He made her open up, he was extraordinary, dashing, jaw-dropping, out of this world. "Ofc you can follow me to get the snacks maybe we can go to a zoo later?" She asked with a warm smile.

She hesitantly took Dylans hand, and started walking to to candy store with him following. She got flustered from holding Dyl's hand but she didnt show it. She continued walks in comfortable silence with him. She knew deep down that they were about to reach an alley with a bunch of shops, she knew it for a fact cause she had been here two many times too miss it. "Hey you said that you were supposed to go back to Wales but because of your moms work you are staying one more day what does she do?"

Dylan nodded and sighed when she placed the silver headphones on his head. "Thanks. I've lived here since I was eight, and I'm still not used to all the hustle and bustle that Americans live with. Growing up in a wizarding village in Wales where we didn't really see cars ever is still what I'm used to." "Snacks then the zoo sounds great! I've never been to a muggle zoo before, so you're going to have to educate me about it, so I don't make a fool out of myself there." Dylan laughed. Red creeped up Dylan's cheeks when she grabbed his hand and began to show him where the candy store was. He quickly shook his head to clear his mind. He didn't want her to see how nervous it made him that they were holding hands. But, when his nerves were put aside, he felt comfortable or even at ease with her. Something he had never felt around anyone other than family before. "My mom's a magical healer. Basically, she heals witches and wizards with injuries. Kinda like a muggle nurse." Dylan responded to her question. Dylan guessed that they wouldn't have much longer to walk until they got to the store. He knew from experience that the muggle side of New York had a lot of different snack shops close together. That made it all the more easier to grab something and go before something magical happened that blew his cover.

Val was shocked to find out that Dyl's mom has a healer like her aunt. Who knows, maybe they were friends; they walked for a bit longer and reached an alley with many shops. "Which one do you want to go to? Actually never mind i know a good one" Val then draged Dylan along into the shop. When they entered Val looked at all the candy on the aisles and was grinning. She then began showing Dyl all her favorite muggle candy.

She ended picking between a pack of gummies and 2 lollipops; for her and Dylan. As she walked to the register with Dylan to pay she noticed someone familiar at the register. It was one of Vals bullies from when she was younger, he'd pick on Val every time she came to visit Rayne and her aunt. Rayne would always be there to defend her but today he wasnt. Val put on her hoodie to avoid eye contact, and softly squeezed Dylans hand.

She didnt want to be noticed by him so she was trying to be "discreet". "Hey, Dylan, do you mind paying-- you can use my card." She put her card in Dylans hand, hoping he would agree to pay for her. She was also hoping he would do it quick enough so that the boy wouldn't notice that Valentin was also in the store. The boy's name was Darren, a Muggle whose family hated anything out of the ordinary. Darren believed that Val was a weirdo and was likely to be cursed, so he always bullied her. When Val left, Darren had come to believe that she had finally left to be weird so she didnt want him to see her and bully her infront of Dylan.

Dylan smiles as he followed Val around. As she showed him all of her favorite muggle candies, his mind reeled with questions about them, but he kept them to himself. Not wanting to ruin their last moments together before they parted ways for the summer. At the register is where everything turned to an unfamiliar path to Dylan. He had felt Val squeeze his hand tightly and pull her hood up around her. Two things that just suggested that something or maybe even someone was bothering her. He wanted to ask what was wrong, but before he could say anything, she placed her card in his hands and asked him to pay. His eyes blinked in surprise as he stood there in shock. Confused at what had just happened, but also sensing that something bigger was wrong that he made a mental note to ask about later. Dylan quickly paid for their treats and began walking towards her. Reaching out his hand for her to grasp. He sensed that she probably needed the extra support, but he could be wrong. As Dylan waited for Val, he took a quick glance around the shop again. Fascinated by what he saw. He had never known that muggles had so many interesting candies. He would absolutely have to come back later and try some more. There were just too many new flavors for him to pass up!
