No seemed to be her parent’s favorite word. No this, no that but the main thing they said no to, was a pet. They would say it almost instantly. As soon as the words, “can I get a pet” would come out of either Ellie’s or Tiana mouth, without even looking up, her parents would say no. So when the Hogwarts letters came to the Randensmith family for Ellie and Tiana and said they could get a pet, Ellie didn’t even bother asking.

So when they went to Diagon Alley for Ellie and Tiana’s school supplies and walked past the Magical Menagerie, Ellie stared at the windows with owls and cats longingly. Knowing she was not getting one, Ellie walked past the shop, not realizing her parents had stopped and walked in. Baffled, Ellie followed them in.

"Your father and I have been talking" Her mom took a breath, "We think you guys are responsible enough to have a pet."

Her parents smiled.

"No." Her sister said, "I don't think I am ready for a pet at the moment."

"Well, you don't have to get one, how about you Ellie?" Her father asked.

"Yes, I will take one" Ellie already had her eyes on a cute kitten in one of the crates. She walked over to it, her parents on her heels.

"Is this the one you want?" her parents ask.

Confidently Ellie says yes and walks up to the counter where an old couple is stationed.

“Hello, I am interested in getting one of your cats.”

The lady smiled at Ellie, “Which one?”

Ellie had forgotten to look at the card with the species if cat, “Umm sorry I forgot to look but that one.” She pointed at the kitten she wanted with its fluffy gray fur.

"Ahh, a Sliver Siberian!" The lady said, "They love to play and are great with family's! Anything else?"

"No I believe we are all set." Her dad said.

The lady went to the crate and let the kitten out. It yawned and stretched and came over to Ellie, rubbing its back on her legs.

"She is a one year old female Silver Siberian born on April 3rd 2024. What would you like to name her?" The lady asked.

Ellie gasped. The cat was born only a couple days before her birthday! But what to name her...? Ellie thought about the different things she liked. Music, astronomy, plays and musicals... Then she thought of something and told the lady. The lady smiled and told her that the cat was hers. Her parents gave the lady 15 galleons and the cat rubbed against Ellie again.

"She likes you." The lady told her and Ellie liked her too.

They exited the shop Aries following right next to Ellie. Aries, like the constellation, Aries like a ram. Aries like the star sign of both Ellie and the cat. Ellie smiled, shopping for supplies had turned out better than she thought. She not only left with what she needed, she left with with a new friend.
