The grounds were empty, it was a very early morning. Lorraine wanted to take a walk outside, to take her mind off things. It was cold, but not cold enough to cause hypothermia, she was wearing a buttoned up coat underneath a black blouse.
She was walking cautiously, roots cracking as she took her steps. The sunlight streamed over the trees in the forbidden forest, yet it was still dark and eerie. Lorraine made her way for it, paused, looked around for signs of other people, slowly continued on the path that was continuously narrowing.
She'd just been dreaming about her parents. How they'd reacted to her unsent letter that was crumpled in her hand, regret warming it. Sure she hadn't sent it yet, but the thought of it frightened her.
Rustle.
Lorraine shivered at the sound of the unseen creatures that lived among the tall, dark trees, she swore that she saw something moved, what was she doing? She turned around and made her way up to the castle, occasionally slipping on a few puddles that were left by last night's storm. Just then...
Crack.
Lorraine found herself in a ditch, the sun was only lighting up a small patch of it. Around her was damp, mossy dirt, she shivered slightly then called out, “Help! Is anyone there?!”
