Evaline had never cared much for literature. She thought of it as boring and dull. And whenever she stepped into a bookshop, it reminded her of her of Aunt Matilda’s house, whom she did not like. But Flourish and Blotts was…different. She couldn’t really explain the smell of sweetness mixed with new paper. She gazed down at her list:

Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger;
Book of Spells by Miranda Goshawk;
Magical Theory by Adalbert Waffling;
The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self-Protection by Quentin Trimble;
Hogwarts, A History by Garius Tomkink;
A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot;
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander.

“Where am I going to find all that?” She muttered to herself in a panic. Her mother told her to be back in 5 minutes! She’d never been in many bookshops, but enough to know where the informational books were placed usually, at the back of the store. She started to throw books off the shelves and into her satchel. Checking each as she did so due to her clumsiness.

Once she found all of the books she stacked them on top of each other for check out. An old man with brown hair and a tired expression rung her up, and she stumbled out of the odd bookstore with her new school books.
