Glittering Gold

“I understand that Lyss is being taught early on on how to manage her finances… but… but just 7 galleons?!” Lyssandra can't help looking up at her brother with an amused glint in her eyes.
The day after they received her letter, it was she who insisted on buying her own supplies as soon as they were able.
The little heiress spoke of how she wanted to get the authentic experience of everything there is to experience, from something as small as walking along the streets of Diagon Alley, to completing her entire list of things to purchase and acquire.

“It's not that bad, Al. Though, I'd have to cut back on the non academic books.” Lyssandra looks over her shoulder with a smile before setting her eyes towards Gringgots.
“Eyes forward, Little Blue.” An amused voice called after from where he stood just a few places behind the two siblings.

“Oh yeah, why is it just you Carolus?” Argentus tilts his head.

“Dion's been summoned. Something urgent. I had to promise him lots of things just for him to go.” The older male chuckles as he recalled how his husband, a grown man who could manage deadly spells and volatile curses without wiping a sweat, whining and writhing around their plush carpet.

“Whining and wriggling on the floor?” Carolus chuckled.

“Just the carpet.” Argentus snickered.

When they reached the marble building, they looked at Lyssandra who had to crane her chin up to behold its entirety. The little heiress spots the guard and she gives a little nod, silently thanking him as he opens the door with Carolus and Argentus giving their own nod.
_____
It was not a busy day inside Gringgots, however it did not mean that it was not filled with the soft murmuring of goblins and wixen-kind alike.

Lyssandra looks around and spots that the front desk was relatively empty, so she walks up to it and takes a small breath in and quietly exhales through her nostrils.

“Greetings! May your vaults flow endlessly and your triumphs unceasing.” The Goblin, who seemed to be writing in his ledger, paused and looked down from over his desk.

He assessed Lyssandra and bore a fang-filled smile.

“May your gold flourish and your victories unending. It’s not very open that young wixen such as yourself are capable of basic polite greetings.” The goblin sets his quill down to give them his full attention.

“I am Kragluld. How may I be of assistance?” Carolus moves to speak but Argentus grabs his sleeve without taking his eyes off of Lyssandra. The little heiress offers a dip of her head, keeping it low for a few seconds before meeting the goblin’s eyes.

“I am Lyssandra Amaranth Navarus. I would like to access my vault, please.” The goblin made a rumbling sound that Lyssandra wasn’t sure what it would entail. But one glance at Carolus told her that it would be fine.

“Ah, Miss Navarus. Very well, Lord Navarus had given us prior notice. Manager Drarmurg will assist you on your endeavors.” At his name, another fiercer looking goblin appears wearing the Gringgots official bank and adorned with a small Navarus family crest upon his brooch.

“Master and Miss Navarus. Will Master Reinhardt be joining us as well?” Drarmurg tilts his head a bit.

“Yes, he will.” At that, Drarmurg simply nods and motions for the 3 to follow him.
_____

The ride was quite an experience. Before, when she would accompany her father and mother, she would be made to sit at a waiting area with either parent and stay there until the other parent was finished with whatever business they had with the goblins.

Now, Lyssandra can feel a slight buzz within her veins as she absorbed the thrill of the ride.

“Vault 1411. Lord Navarus arranged a two-way security measure for both your vault and the young Mister Navarus’ vault.” Lyssandra nods attentively as Drarmurg presents a key to her.

“This will be your key, Miss Navarus. It is tied to your magical signature and yours alone.” Lyssandra took the key, noted the beautiful craftsmanship it held and gave it back to him. Drarmurg took the key and twisted it until a “click” was heard. Removing the key, Drarmurg placed his hand on the palm and carefully opened Lyssandra’s vault.

As the vault opens, Lyssandra takes a full note of the neat piles of galleons, sickles, and knuts laid before her. She looked towards Argentus and tilted her head as Carolus snickered.
“You don’t really expect father to just place a few galleons in your vault now did you? Though, before I earn your ire, father says that’s your entire school funds all throughout the seven years you’ll be staying at Hogwarts.” Argentus sniffed and went inside, pretending to assess her vault while Carolus shook his head, whatever he said was the furthest from the truth.

Lyssandra simply took her brother’s words and entered her vault. She took exactly 7 galleons, a few sickles, and some knuts and took out the enchanted money pouch—made with soft dragonhide that was dyed into a rich navy-blue color,a Carolus gave her the day she got her letter—and placed her coins inside.

“This is all that I would be taking, Goblin Drarmurg. Should I need to discuss further inquiries, I’ll be sending my owl directly to you.” The goblin bares his teeth and nods, leading them back to the carts and back to the main hall.

______
As the three of them were once again met with goblins and wixen hustling and bustling about, Lyssandra smiled at her money pouch—-squeezing it as her heart can’t seem to remain still now that she will be able to make her purchases.

Carolus went and finalized things with Goblin Kragluld as Argentus continued his tirade over “so little galleons” and that “Dion’s going to have a fit.” Drarmurg, who shook his head, amused about the whole ordeal, simply makes a small grunting noise that Lyssandra cannot decipher before giving her a small bow of his head—-to which she responded with a curtsy of her own.

“May your blade saturate the soil with the blood of your enemies.” Lyssandra smiles and answers,

“And may your fortune be the fuel of envy for many.” Once Carolus was finished, the three of them left Gringgots—-walking briskly to follow after Lyssander who might as well have bolted to the first shop she saw
