Steering as far away from the attention as possible, she made a surefire attempt to keep away from the Greenhouses and the other students. Siobhan hadn't been to the Herbology Greenhouse without reasoning since her accident. She didn't want her favorite professor to look at her with any more pity than she had already been given by some of the staff, barring the Nurse who had so rudely turned her head into a tentacle. She swore she could still feel slime oozing from somewhere in her hair and it made her want to cry.
Crying was nealry all she did these days. If it wasn't for the loneliness, it was for her eyes. And if it wasn't for her eyes, it was because she felt so lost in terms of who she even was anymore. Sure she still had her dueling team, she had Toaster, and she had her classes- but who really had her? It truly seemed like nobody even knew her or wanted to engage with her unless it was for dueling, or just out of pity. Thus she found herself wandering into the gardens and grounds looking for an escapism sort of nap.
The lovely spring flowers had been blooming so kindly for everyone and now that the eve of summer was upon the student body and the air of vacation fast approached, Siobhan found herself wondering what would become of her when the summer ended and the new school year began? Would she be any different? Would she look any better than what she came off as now? Would her mind have expaned while her speaking ability shrunk? Questions upon questions flooded through the neurons in her brain, triggering her to find a spot upon the daffodils and sit herself down.
How ironic.
Daffodils seemed to follow her everywhere. She had thought she made friends among them last year at the previous Spring ball, Reginald and Uri. But it seemed that both of them had moved on and forgotten her or perhaps truly disappeared in general. Then she had met Matthew who had helped her come out of her magical shell and sparked her passion for dueling all the while becoming someone she considered to be very close with until the accident. During the trip to France, he had ignored her when she waved to him and the ironic sound of her daffodils on her hat had only made her feel foolish for trying to remain positive. While he had apologized heavily and though she did not wish any ill will towards him, she could tell he wanted to stay away from her which had hurt more than any physcial burn ever could. Prat had been a shocking friend to find but even so she still felt some weird sense of animosity between the two of them whenever they talked to each other.
And he kept trying to kidnap her cat which was ever so annoying.
No no, it seemed that friends were not in the cards for Siobhan. At least not this year. Who knew if next year would remain the same or any different?
As she laid down on the grounds, it was almost as if the flowers parted for her and wanted to blanket her away from the stress of being human. She felt so protected and safe within the shell of the petals that graced the shadows of her remaining vision. The soft whites, pale creams, and gentle yellows kept her calm and allowed for a soft smile to finally grace her face after months of frowns and general facelessness she had faced.
The cool breeze felt good on her face as she forgot about her loneliness and remembered what it was like to be inside her shell once again.
