Stargazing
As Brooklyn headed towards the tallest tower in the middle of the night with one of Hufflepuff’s prefects, she felt excited. At home, her and her mother had always stargazed. Of course, she had asked permission first and had to be escorted by a prefect, but she still felt joy thinking about something from home.
The prefect let her go at the top of the tower, which held a few dozen telescopes and was open to the sky (mostly).
Brooklyn’s thoughts began to race, which was a bit uncommon for her. Oh my gosh STARS! I’ve been so excited at the thought of studying them from higher up and oh my look at that is that a comet and what is that really bright light up there is it the Muggle space station? Also WOW look at the sky at NIGHT! Okay, calm down. You’ve seen the stars before, just not at a SCHOOL for WITCHCRAFT and WIZARDRY! CALM DOWN!
But she couldn’t. The thought of all of this was too much for Brooklyn’s small mind to handle. Thankfully, another prefect (in Ravenclaw, of course) calmed her down and showed her the telescopes and the classroom before taking her back to the Hufflepuff prefect. Honestly, Brooklyn thought that it payed off.
