✽Avery walked down to the library after she had dropped all of her books off in her dorm. She wanted a quick break from school before dinner and before she planted herself nose deep in homework for the rest of the night. She didn't have a ton of homework, so what a better way to relax than spend some time in the library with books surrounding her? It would be a nice way to wind down after the events of her classes.
Once she had arrived at the library, the scent of parchment and old books filled her nose. She breathed in the scent and was immediately relaxed. She loved the smell of books. Especially in the library.
Avery walked over to an empty table that had books littered around it and sat down. She rummaged through the volumes until she found one that sounded interesting to her at the moment.
That's when she noticed someone else walk into the library. The girl was a fellow Gryffindor like her, but Avery didn't remember seeing her before. There were so many Gryffindors that it was hard to keep track of who she had seen or not seen before.
Avery gave the girl a quick smile before glancing down at her book again. Avery would be happy to chat with the girl if she chose, or if she didn't, well, Avery would be satisfied to finish up reading then head to the Great Hall for dinner.

✽Avery gave the other Gryffindor a smile once she had sat down and said her name. "Nice to meet you, Valentin. I'm Avery. How's your day been?" She asked in order to help the girl strike up a conversation if she wished.
Avery decided then to stop reading her book for the moment. It was interesting, but getting to know a new friend would be a lot more fun than reading a book. Even though she loved books, she would much rather chat at the moment. She had spent way too much time in quiet that day, and she needed a break from it.
Avery glanced up and checked the clock hanging on the wall of the library. Perfect. They had plenty of time to chat and get to know each other before dinner. She was glad about that. She wasn't completely sure if she was ready yet or not for dinner. She had been tired all that day thanks to the worry and nightmares keeping her awake until late most nights. Haunting images of what had happened over spring break still plagued her. She couldn't stand it. It was too much for a twelve-year-old to see. Too much for anyone to see.
