Salutations, Kid

![]() β βsummary, this thread is happening on MAY 19TH, 2025, in the MORNING with @CONRAD WOLVERSTONE / wc: 520. It had been a couple of weeks since Harlan had the most embarassing display of a first Broom Racing match where he blundered so badly his spell had backfired and set his robes on fire to only then have to take a penalty lap while lit up. If it hadn't been the talk of the Gryffindor Common Room for a couple of days in a positive way, Harlan would've felt more embarrassed but he'd take the free social points for looking like something of a badass. Joining when the school year was practically over still was the absolute pits, but he'd be excited to be properly with his class mates from last year as long as he could past the advancement exam in a month or two. Unsurprisingly, everything that he was currently learning were concepts and topics that his grandmother had gone over with him last year and then a brief refresher right before he made it back to Hogwarts. He hadn't thought he'd miss Germany and his private lessons with his Oma, but they were all right that he should be socializing with witches and wizards his own age. Still, despite Harlan's irresistible charm and otherwise conniving ways, it was challenging to find his footing when everything already seemed so dang established. Friend groups, people, social clout, the Gryffindor figured he'd fare far better next year when he was actually in classes with the year he was supposed to be in and was essentially using this year to scout out some of the others he'd try to make it in with. Great first person? Raizel, the other Gryffindor Broom Racer that seemed like she could be a real spitfire. There were a couple of others: Finnegan Connors, too. Even though he seemed as though he was under some serious effects of some potions or something, Harlan would have to go digging soon enough to figure out what all that was about. The morning continued slowly as Harlan finished his trek from the top of Gryffindor Tower into the Great Hall for breakfast, famished as a young man who was still growing was so cruel that there weren't any snacks he could sneak for a midnight treat. He'd just have to make do and grab a few handful of muffins or things he could easily snack on throughout the day. His mind already on the food as he walked through a group of students who had been walking away from the Great Hall. " Wait a second. " The words blurted out as he spun on his heel as a hand rose and gestured over to one of the boys in particular. " Conrad? Is that you? I didn't realize you're already Hogwarts-aged, dude. " They probably hadn't seen each other for a couple of years at this point, but they had spent quite a bit of time together as kids. since their parents were pretty friendly. He remembered one particular moment in their youth where they were forced to learn how to swim together β some floaties, a couple of charms, a lake, and a couple of hours was all it took, apparently. |
