│XXXThe mountains were quiet, the light breeze drifting over the expanse of sky. The grasses and undergrowth swayed slightly, rustling in the morning air. Morning dew collected upon the leaves of trees, dripping down with soft plops into a bird bath below. The fixture featured a pale grey stone base, curving up to support a wide pool of clear water. A bird feeder was attached to the side of the basin.
XXXA small niche was carved into the base, where a small bluebell flame sat, summoned magically. The flickering flame provided light, though the wild flora and fauna were obviously kept safe from it. Occasionally, a few birds would stop by, perching on the feeder to peer inside and take a few nibbles of seeds before flying off again. Akari sat on the front steps, watching them hop around.
XXXThe late spring season had brought many of their migratory birds back to Japan, and he always enjoyed watching different species return after the autumn and winter months. A few common kingfishers sat on the rocks below, though they quickly flew away when they noticed the boy observing them.
XXXBlue was an elusive color, not commonly found in nature. Most blue flora and fauna were simply structurally different to make them appear blue. This was a fact Akari had always been in awe of, and one that kept him glued to a book that wasn't necessary for studies. The fūrin swayed gently in the window. The wind chime was blown into an upside-down bowl shape made of blue-tinted glass, with little flower decorations on it. Every so often, a faint tinkling sound rung out when the breeze picked up slightly. A eurasian nuthatch hopped across the garden, peeking in between the bluebells planted around the garden. An adult blue-and-white flycatcher nipped an insect from a tree branch, its bright blue plumage standing out.
XXXAkari glanced out across the garden, his gaze fixing on the horizon. The mountains stretched out further than the human eye could see, the early morning fog obscuring the peaks and cliffs the further they extended. The air was slightly damp, the coolness brushing against his cheeks.
XXXDozens of processes and occurrences were happening all at once, the unity and chaos of nature exhibited perfectly. His thoughts focused especially on the parts that he couldn't see, the insects crawling under the bushes, the inner workings of the roaming birds, each splash of water that fell into the birdbath and rippled outward, each slight lap of the water that sent a little spilling over the rim of the basin to seep into the soil below, the way the roots of the nemophilia flowers would surely absorb the droplets. The air was clear, and everything was connected. This was the best feeling in the world.~✩✩✩~✩✩✩~✩✩✩~✩✩✩~✩✩✩~✩✩✩~
This is a pile of blue puns.
Blue birds but not bluebirds, bluebell flowers, bluebell flames, and blue 'bells' that are actually wind chimes.
