Letter-Carrier!
Ruby went into the Magical Menagerie, eager.
She finally got the Galleons for her pet. She wanted an OWL. A tawny owl was the cutest owl, she found out.
Its peculiar calls, and it’s SO CUTE!!!!!!!!!
She looked at the animals first. Ruby was slightly disgruntled because it was ridiculously noisy. The Pygmy Puffs were squeaking, the half-Crups were barking happily due to the new girl who has come in…
But she didn’t mind that at all. Well, not “at all”. Her ears were sensitive, because her mother had sensitive ears too. She got a book about owls she got from Flourish and Blotts and skimmed through the book until she got onto the topic on tawny owls. They were very analytical.
Well, they were owls. Owls were very intelligent and became symbols of intelligence.
And also, they’re the most useful. For sending letters, and stuff like that. And Internet users said that they are cats in bird skin. And she wholeheartedly agreed.
She watched funny animal videos, everyone has at least watched one or scrolled past one. Owls were cutie pies, practically a thing of nightmares, or… weird birds.
And the Owlery! She didn’t have to take care of the tawny owl. The droppings, the owl pellets, nope! The Owlery is their second parent, sort of, basically!
She also decided she’d buy Owl Treats. But again, would that be necessary? It was fully capable of getting its own food.
Mice, rats… Mice… Did we mention mice? She felt a bit sorry for the rats in the Menagerie, but so far, they didn’t quiver when the owls hooted or glanced at them. They just existed peacefully in their small little cages. Maybe they have Gryffindor-attitude genes, she thought.
Ruby chuckled. She knew that was highly, highly unlikely, but weird things had a habit on crawling into her brain. She got her journal and scribbled on it.
Below is what she wrote.
"So, I'm just here in the Magical Menagerie. I'm very excited because I'm gonna get my owl, her name is gonna be Kiyo. It's a cute Japanese name meaning 'clean', it's pretty nice, no? And I hope that she's gonna be happy that I'm with her because I've researched EVERYTHING about owls and how to take care of them, and I probably am gonna be very responsible!"
Then Ruby looked at the tawny owls. Which one should I pick? Aha! Her!
