Is This My Spot?

Simon walked into the library and returned her books. It reminded her of when she volunteered at her local library back home. She only wrote home once or twice every few months. Simon found a new book, and snuggled up in her favorite sunny corner. The sunny-ness reminded her of sunny days, her favorite back home. The corner, well, it's a corner. If she was going to be happy reading, it was cuddled up in a corner. All she needed was some of her mom's green tea, a blanket, and a cat in her lap. Well, that and to be home. Why was she so homesick today?
Simon read her book, listening to the quiet chatter of the library, and started feeling tired.
She set her book down and looked out the window, imagining the trees and lake whooshing by as if she were in a car with her muggle parents. Simon shut her eyes and took a short nap, only lasting a couple minutes. She never really took regular several-hour-long naps like a lot of people. She took short little catnaps. Even her cat back home took longer naps than she did.
Simon kept reading the book. Once again, it reminded her of home, and the fights she'd have with her sister. They used to go on and on about the dumbest things. Her best friend just wanted to see her do magic, despite Simon not knowing the fist thing on how to do it. She had gotten mad trying to tell her best friend this, and had accidentally broken the light bulb.

Is This My Spot?
Simon finished her book, and went to put it back. How had it made her so homesick? So homesick to the point she remembered the fight she had with Laurie, her best friend, before she left? Simon was confused. At least summer was coming up, so she'd be able to go home to her family's farm, and feed the chickens, hang out with their cattle. She was most excited to see her cat, kinder. He had scruffy fur with a brown, black, and cream coat that looked like the muggle treat Kinder Eggs. Simon went to find a book on cows, but was unsuccessful. So, she looked for a different book. Again, Simon couldn't find a book she wanted to read. So, she took out pencil and paper to write home.Simon put away her pen and quill, and looked out the window from her corner. She started daydreaming about home.Dear Kinder, Mom, and Dad.
I hope your doing well. The library doesn't have any books on cows. How's Laurie doing? Has she gotten over the whole light bulb incident yet? Is kinder well fed? Next year, I'm definetly coming home for Christmas break. Only letters is horrible. Please tell Laurie I'm sorry, and can't wait to see her (and you!) when I get home.
Best,
Simon

Is This My Spot?
When she returned the next day, she had brought a letter, homework,Bleugh.
and a quill. The first thing she did was open the letter. Simon immediately recognized the handwriting. Laurie. Uh-oh. Simon thought. If Laurie had sent her mail, that couldn't be good. she only ever communicated across distance via text. other than that, there was nothing.Ok, this was bad. Simon wasn't allowed to practice magic outside hogwarts. Plus, simon felt really bad now. Laurie did that sometimes. She would guilt-trip you until she got what she wanted. Simon decided she'd had enough. She formed a letter back.Dear Simon,
I'm still.. recovering. You broke my lightbulb! You wouldn't show me, your best friend, the thing you were born with, that most people don't believe exist! That's messed up! And the lightbulb, what if it had cut me? When you get back, you are showing me magic. And paying for a new lightbulb, just in case you break the new one.
Practice bunches,
LaurieSimon knew it was a bad idea. But there wasn't much she could do about it.Dear Laurie,
I'm done. I'm not allowed to use magic outside of hogwarts, and I wouldn't use it to entertain someone who guilt-tripped me into it. As for the lightbulb, i'm so sorry. I didn't mean to break it, and it wasn't something I could control.
Don't owl back,
Simon
