Reach For The Stars
Only a few hours until supper, Dymphna headed up to the Astronomy tower. She rarely visited outside of class and the special trip wasn't for studying. It was to feel closer to her dad. She missed him terribly and Astronomy class only made her miss him more. She needed some time on her own to admire the stars and feel closer to him. With her telescope in hand, she went through the door that led to the roof.
There was a chill in the air. The Ravenclaw pulled her cardigan closed, wishing that she had wore her robes over her regular clothes. Despite it being a little too chilly for her liking, she decided to stick it out and enjoy her time anyway. Maybe later she would have a hot tea to warm up. Her telescope was old and looked beat up. It wasn't that she couldn't afford a new one. She just preferred to use the first one her dad had ever gifted to her when she was a child.
The stars were stunning from the roof. She could see the sky much clearer at Hogwarts than in her hometown. Malahide was known for it's rich history and delicious seafood, being a port town. Change was always difficult and going from a small town muggle school to a boarding school far away from home was the biggest change she had ever faced. Her pureblood family didn't seem to mind her interacting with muggles. In fact, they encouraged it, wanting her to learn from their experiences and difficulties.
They didn't see muggles as inferior but rather people, just like them but with different jobs and perhaps simpler lives. With a sigh, Dymphna looked through the old telescope, searching for the star that her dad had named after her. It wasn't official, as she had learned later but at the time, it was the best birthday gift that she didn't know she wanted.
