Step 71 - The Corridor of Forgetting
Sleep took you completely. You would drift away into a dark and formless place. To the rest of the world, you were still. Sleeping perhaps, but if they drew close enough to you they would not see the rise and fall of your chest. Your breaths were so shallow, they would not be able to tell that you were breathing. If they were to press an ear to your sternum, they would not hear the rhythmic beat of your heart. Too slow... too faint.
However, your mind's eye would go on a journey. The world did not appear all at once. It slipped into view softly, like misty curtains drawn back by invisible hands. You would stand, not in your body, but in the shape of yourself, on a long, endless corridor paved with cracked tiles. This was not Hogwarts, with paintings on the walls that chattered endlessly. The carpeted halls with classrooms and bannisters, with students and Professors. No, this place was lonelier. The colors were muted, as though memory itself had been bleached and stretched too thin.
The walls pulsed faintly with breathless silence. The air was thick with the scent of old parchment, salt, and something faintly sweet—like that tea, but older. Wilder. Like someone had taken a clump of moss and distilled it in the very same brew. This earthiness that you might feel that you should be able to place but you cannot.
In your hand you held nothing, and yet your fingers curled tightly around something you could not see.
Ahead, figures lined the hallway. Not standing. Not walking. Just… placed. Stiff and still, like mannequins left behind in a forgotten shop. Some wore school robes. Some did not. Their faces were featureless—soft and blank, as if memory had never been invited in.
A voice echoed behind her, distant yet sharp, like scissors cutting thread:
“What do you want to remember?”

There is something about ambition, how it not only propels you but also defines you.
Step 71 - The Corridor of Forgetting
Mellani stood in her dream and looked around. These were definitely the corridors of Hogwarts, but there was something odd and abandoned about them, like she was somewhere in the future where Hogwarts had been abandoned by people. Her hands curled around something, even though she knew she held nothing.
Figures lines the hallway and Mellani was overcome by the instinct to run, even though she knew she couldn't. Behind her, someone asked her what she wanted to remember. Confused, Mellani asked back, "What is there to remember?"
