Gen entered the Leaky Cauldron and stopped automatically. It was to be expected actually, every time she walked in she always stopped. It wasn’t a matter of wonder or anything it was the smell. Always the smell.

It wasn’t the smell of the alcohol, or too small of space and too many people. It was the meat. She was used to it in the bakery her family run at home. The smells of bread and other baked goods but smell of fresh air and the ocean always made it easier in her mind. She had grown up with it after all.

She turned and looked up at her father and wondered if he would cast a bubble headed charm. They probably wouldn’t be there long or she hoped that they wouldn’t be. Taking a deep breathe she walked into the crowded pub and was making her way towards the area that led into Diagon when she heard her brother Tristan’s voice.

“I’m hungry da, can we get something to eat.”

She knew that he had done that on purpose that the smell would bother his sister but Tristan was the typical little brother and it was too be expected. Her father agreed, but then Tristan was his favourite, and Gen looked up at their mother, wondering if maybe they could go ahead alone, maybe with Laurel, and boys could stay behind and eat. Her mother shook her head and headed towards a spare table. Gen harrumphed and followed and sat roughly in her chair and grabbed a menu and groaned.

“There is nothing that I can eat on here other than chips,” she grumbled.

Arran was in the Leaky Cauldron with his brother, Nicholas, and his father, Carlos Magdaleno, who was a renown Auror. They were having lunch after going to visit some relatives who lived near Diagon Alley and Mr. Magdaleno didn't really like going to muggle restaurants; he felt like somehow they'd just figure out he was a wizard within a glance and try to burn him up.

His children teased him about it, knowing full well that if he could help take down dark wizards, he can definitely take down some magicless muggles. But Arran knew that rules were rules and the Ministry didn't want magic to interfere with muggles. But as always people had to be rebellious, like the Hufflepuff was about to be.

Arran was finishing his Toad in a Hole, some meat and vegetable combination, and slurping the last of his frozen butterbeer when he let out a loud "BURRRRRRRRRRRRRP!", which caused him and his brother to erupt into laughter. Mr. Magdaleno shook his head but a smile rested on his face. A group of old hags were glaring disapprovingly at the boys, their faces so wrinkly and elderly that Arran doubled back in laughter, slapping the table.

After a few second, when unwanted eyes were focusing on their table, Mr. Magdaleno snapped his fingers and hissed, "Boys!". They quieted down, Arran rubbing his face like he had an itch. But then he caught the eye of his brother and snorted into his fist.

"Really? If your mother were here, I doubt you two would be acting like this," chatised their father. A waiter came by and took their empty plates away.

Arran quickly grabbed the waiter, a pretty raven haired young lady, and asked her to wait. "Dad, can I get that dessert Daniella got last time, the Cranachan?"

"That sounds like a new Pokemon character," muttered Nicholas. He was fourth year and looked a lot like Arran except his hair was dark brown and shaved.

"You mean you look like a Pokemon character. Wasn't it called Ludicolo, or something?" Arran hurst into more laughter.

Less than a second later Arran was in a headlock as Nicholas complained about how annoying he was, which made him laugh even more, his face red. There were some pretty girls his age nearby, probably Hogwarts students, and his brother was embarrassing him with his loud voice. When the desserts came they stopped playing around and dug into their food.

That's when he noticed a family enter the Leaky Cauldron. It was two adults and two kids, but his eyes focused on the girl. She seemed around his age, so maybe she was a first-year like him, if she went to Hogwarts. She looked upset or grumpy about something, possibly because of being somewhere she didn't want to be.

Arran placed a hand on his dad's shoulder. "Dad, can I order something, for that girl over there? You know how mum does stuff for stranger's she thinks are having a bad day?" His father shrugged and nodded. Arran ordered a dessert called "Sticky Toffee Pudding" and directed it towards the girl.

"It's coming from your allowance anyway," said Mr. Magdaleno, which made Nicholas laugh and Arran roll his eyes when his father wasn't looking.
