A New Chapter Begins: The Wand Finds The Heart
Charles strolled along with his mother, wondering where the next stop would be. To his surprise, they both stopped at the entrance of a somewhat narrow, shabby place with a single wand displayed in a dusty window, and countless narrow boxes of wands piled to the ceiling. Clara, Charles's mother smiled and pushed the door open. Charles had no choice but to reluctantly follow. Is this really where people receive their first wands? Charles wondered.
The entrance seemed hostile, with towering boxes of probably hundreds or even thousands of wands! Charles glared at them in awe, his jaw almost dropping but managed to keep composed and collected. While scouring for space, he noticed that there were no chairs.
Without an invitation, a man standing on a chair skids through the upper platform. Charles was immensely taken aback, through his appearance. A man probably in his hundreds, with messy hair and formal dressing, definitely knew how to present himself.
"Gerrick Ollivander! Nice to see you again old friend, look who I bought with me a fresh astute 'soon to be' Hogwarts student'
"Ah! Nice to see you again Clara, you seem quite majestic from your young years. And you must be Charles; your mother has told me all about you: about your aspirations, personality." He leaned in closer " Sounds like quite the addition to the Azure family."
"Let's get down to business shall we?"
Charles watched him roll across to the back; quite an intriguing and charming person even for his age. He started to feel a lot more comfortable inferring that Olivander has had a perpetual connection with the Azures.
He came back in a hurry with three shortlisted wands. "Could not find much from the type of child you are, hopefully, these three can do, but they are all pretty advanced to be taken up by a novice. You might leave this place wandless!!" He iterated with a nervous chuckle.
Ollivander handed the first wand to Charles as he wrapped his fingers around its neck.
"We can start with the basic one out of the three: dragon heartstring core, 30 cm, walnut wood. Have a wave; remember the wand chooses the wizard!"
Charles broke a slight sweat which he could feel running down his forehead. With trembling hands and the thought of persistence, he gave it a minor swish. There was silence for a moment, then out of nowhere, the wand gave a tug, like it was trying to leave the wizard's hand.
Charles having no clue, let go and it flung towards the tallest tower of boxes, knocking them down. All three were frustrated.
"Now worries.." Olivander remarked, " Give this one a go: phoenix feather core, elmwood 35cm."
However, Charles again felt unease the moment he gripped the handle. It was like opening the pandora's box of threats, the wand immediately without any movement started shooting sparks. Within a few moments, the whole wall looked like it had been drilled with holes. Charles was devastated, he was down to his last wand.
"Ah well" sighed Olivander in despair, "The hardest and the most advanced out of the three; 32,0 cm willow wood and dragon heartstring core"
However, Charles felt something different, it was as though his heartbeat and blood flow were in unison with the internal essence of the wand. It gave an amiable glow as a gust of air rose from the ground and welcomed him with open arms.
"OOHH! I don't believe it.." Olivander gasped as he reminisced on the sight...
Charles had the most eventful day and a perfect wand as he stared in astonishment.
The wand was packed and they bid their farewells... Looks like the wand found the heart.
