No, papá, no!". Bea was being dragged anxiously by her father. "I-I wanted that cat! CAT!" she protested, trying to free her hand from her father's grip. After just taking a look at the wonderful animals on Bea's demand at the Magical Menagerie, they were headed to Madam Malkin's to buy her school robes. This was merely unfair. He did not buy Bea that cute little red classic tabby cat. The way the cat had first mewed at her, she could tell they were meant to be together, till the very end of the world. And no one should dare to ask how she knew that. "Good heavens, Bea," her father looked around anxiously, ensuring no one was watching the chaos and minding their own businesses. "Did papá not promise he would buy you the cat next year? Now, let's buy pretty robes for you." "But what if someone buys it before us?" she whined as they entered the shop. "That is my cat! Only—" As the door to the shop opened, a lady, seemingy the shop owner, greeted the brightly, interrupting Bea. The lady even rightly predicted that she was soon going to attend Hogwarts for the first time. "Absolutely correct," ignoring his daughter, her father smiled at the lady with pride, either because her prediction was right, or because Bea was attending Hogwarts. Bea's puppy eyes always seemed to have a powerful effect on her father, but today's case was an exception. The lady merely chuckled before talking about the robes she needed as a first year, but was interrupted by Bea. "I don't want robes! I want a cat!" the girl shot at the shop owner. She crossed her arms over her chest and looked away, only to spot a girl nearby. |

Graci was still ecstatic after getting her owl, Kouko, but she had to dampen her delirium of happiness, now they were going to get robes.
She smiled at Zoe, grateful she would not have to do this alone and partake in awkward small talk.
The pavement was brittle under her feet, and she wished she had worn boots instead of her now dusty converse.
The store was relatively empty, though Graci figured if it was busy it would take a while. She noticed a pair in front of them, and simply observed.
A pair, father and daughter, she presumed. The girl looked as though she was Graci and Zoe's age, a first year, new to Hogwarts as well.
She was saying something about a cat and how she didn't wanna get robes, "I don't want robes! I want a cat!"
Graci knew the feeling, had heard the feeling as well. Zoe was a cat fanatic and, when she was younger, had this particular issues many times, just not with robes.
Sympathy was a common feeling for Graci, and this experience was no exception. She did not feel quite as giddy about her owl, knowing someone else didn't get the pet of their dreams.
Graci's bracelet was on and off three times before she looked up and found that the girl she had noticed before had just looked at her. Surprised she quickly put up a hand and waved, smiling before remembering that some people thought it was weird to smile at strangers.

Letting out an exaggerated huff, Bea crossed her arms over her chest and looked away, somewhere hoping her father would notice, hopefully sympathize and buy the cat for her. Poor her, it did not work. Her father had gotten busy talking to the shop lady. It was pretty obvious who Bea had gotten her over-talking tendencies from. The only exception was that her father talked to the point, while Bea effortlessly talked off-topic and nonsense. She turned to spot two girls, one of whom, seemingly not younger than her, smiled and waved at her. Bea was extremely good at embarrassing herself. She was sure the girl had heard her tantrums. Blushing, she waved back. Her father and the lady talking only gave Bea boredom, thus, she decided to explore the shop a bit, and probably approach the girl, even though she was not sure what to say. "Well, hello there," she walked towards the girl, her voice slightly squeaky and face showing curiosity. "Sorry you had to listen to me like that. I am embarrassed. Are you going to Hogwarts, too? Have you bought a pet yet? And... may I know your name?" She added, internally hoping her series of questions did not overload the girl's head. |

"Well, hello there," This unnamed girl walked closer to Graci. "Sorry you had to listen to me like that. I am embarrassed. Are you going to Hogwarts, too? Have you bought a pet yet? And... may I know your name?"
Zoe and their father walked a few paces away, murmuring about who knew what. Graci wondered if she should tell this girl about the owl. decided, Graci just hoped this girl didn't take it personally.
"No need to be embarrassed, my sister has had a few to many arguments with our parents about wanting more cats, and she already has three. Uhm, yes, I am going to Hogwarts." Graci was having trouble remembering all the questions, but she liked this energetic girl, so why not?
"My name is Gracilia Laren, but everyone calls me nicknames, like Cia or Graci."
She was blanking on one of the questions when it came to her, and she questioned how she forgot. "And yes, my father just bought me the most gorgeous owl. Her name is Kouko. Maybe I could show you her when we get to Hogwarts?"
Graci paused for a moment. "Oh, I forgot to ask, what's your name?"
She couldn't believe she forgot to ask this girl he name, at least she didn't completely forget, that would've been a travesty. Graci blushed slightly, glad they both talked a lot when first meeting someone.

Three cats. Wow. Bea scratched the back of her neck, watching the girl with amusement while she spoke. She wondered if she could add this three-cat fact to her on-the-spot made 'Reasons You Should Definitely Buy Me a When the girl said she was going to Hogwarts as well, Bea decided to drain cats out of her flooded mind, at least for a while. Her lips curved into a grin. "I like your name. Nice to meet you, Gracilia Laren. Oh and yes, I think I would like to call you Cia," she extended a hand. Bea appeared rather intent when Gracilia talked about the owl her father bought her. "Kouko," she repeated the owl's name. "I bet your owl must be very cute. Yes, I would absolutely love to see it!" she smiled, her tone balanced between excitement and curiosity. "I want to buy a cat," she explained. Perhaps this could also be a justification for the embarrassing lines Gracilia had heard her shout. "But my father doesn't buy me one, even though he promised me when I made him do so today at 3 a.m," she said nonchalantly. Her father was drowsy and barely to his senses then, but a promise is a promise. Bea should have made her father sign a contract instead. She looked over her shoulder to see her father buying her robes. He turned towards her and beamed a smile, and turned back to the lady before Bea could react. "Oh, I am Bea," she replied to Gracilia's question. "Bea Bella Blanco. But you can call me only Bea, or even Bella, if you want," she passed another grin. "So um, are you excited about Hogwarts? What house do you think you will be sorted into?" |

"Y'know, Bea, three a.m. promises aren't the most credible." She says this, a smile starting on her lips.
"But you should totally still hold your father to it. A promise is a promise after all. And I am beyond excited for Hogwarts. I'm going to miss my muggle friends dearly, but I think this will be good for me. As for house, most likely Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. Me and Zoe want to be in Ravenclaw together. She could get Gryffindor too, though. And I'm pretty sure I'll get Hufflepuff."
Gracilia didn't want to voice her concerns about the sorting hat telling her she didn't belong. Pushing her intrusive thoughts away, she asked, "Are you looking foreward to Hogwarts? What house do you suppose you'll get into?"
She was plotting how she was going to show Bea her owl.And when. Or to even show her in general, Graci felt really bad about bringing up her owl when this girl just got denied a cat.
All this thinking and talking of cats was giving her nostalgia. Days spent laughing, hair flying around, while playing with the cats who didn't particularly like being played with. Joy at kittens and their mama, Graci's favourite cat, Σκόνηdust.
That was the day my life changed. The day I unwittingly harnessed my magic. If not for Σκόνη getting stuck in that tree I wouldn't be here.
That stupid, adorable gray cat. The cause of this whole magic school ordeal.
