Don't Disappoint Them, Luca
Luca sat bored in the repurposed spare room of the Corranado Manor outside of London, United Kingdom. The manor had more rooms than the Corranados needed, so one had been refurbished into a classroom for him. Among the many responsibilities that Luca's nanny had to the young boy, homeschooling him was one she enjoyed the most. Having been born in the United States and raised for more than half of his childhood in the United Kingdom, he was a well-rounded young boy. His parents and his nanny made sure of that, didn't they?
Luca had been inundated with two-day lectures about America's World War II, so the nanny finally showed mercy by allowing him to read an educational book. Teaching about muggle history was difficult for her, being from a pureblood family, but she welcomed the challenge. Luca's nanny had settled on letting him read The Longest Day, which depicted the events of D-Day from the American and German points of view. It was essential to his parents that he learn muggle history because of his uncle being a successful squib in the muggle world. However, little did Luca or his nanny know how much today's events would overshadow anything he could have learned about World War II from any book.
He was about to doze off as the book turned over to page 100 when his parent's owl flew in with the post. This wasn't unusual as every few days, his mother and father sent letters from wherever their business ventures had taken them that month. His father was a real estate mogul in the wizarding world, and his mother's ability to work with numbers and make deals like a bank all on her own was otherworldly. Together with their separate talents and combined business acumen, they had made the name Corranado mighty in both the wizarding and muggle worlds when you combined them with his squib uncle Anthony being a State Prosecutor in Vice City, where Luca was born. However, just as his eyelids grew their heaviest, he noticed something different.
There were three letters.

Don't Disappoint Them, Luca
Noticing three letters stirred Luca from his near slumber as his mind began to work out why there would be three letters. He only had two parents and one nanny, but his nanny was always with him. Why would she send a letter? It wasn't the holidays when Christmas cards would start rolling in from family and friends. He had very few friends because of his homeschooling, and the ones he did have wouldn't send letters. This only left one logical conclusion: the Quill of Acceptance wrote him a letter and wrote his name into the Book of Admittance. His 11th birthday was in a few short weeks, so his keen young mind also figured the timing made sense.
His father's owl, a stoic black-banded owl named Midnight, usually perched in the classroom with Luca and his nanny after delivering the post to see if there was any return post to send. However, the intelligent avian noticed an abrupt change in Luca's demeanor when he noticed the delivery today. Curious, Midnight crept closer to him to see what the fuss was about as he rummaged through the three letters in the pile before him on the desk. As usual, a letter from his mother and his father. Sometimes, they came in pairs, and sometimes they wrote separate letters, which he assumed meant they were apart at the time. The following letter was precisely what his deductive reasoning told him it would be...

"LILLY!" he shouted, causing Midnight to hoot in surprise and perch further up and away from him.
"IT'S HERE! IT'S FINALLY HERE!" Luca shouted in his developing baritone voice. His father's voice had a deeper bass, so he was expected to sound similar as he grew older.
Upon entering the classroom in a panic, Lilliana appeared delighted to see happiness radiate from the boy's body as he clutched the letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The woman approached Luca expectantly and peeked at the letter in his hand, and her panic melted into excitement for the boy. They shared a warm embrace before Lilliana encouraged him to open it and read it out loud for the memory it would create. Luca agreed and flipped it over, taking in the hardened wax seal for a moment before carefully opening it. Generally, he wasn't very meticulous because he often made quick, brash decisions. However, this was different.

"We have to send an owl to my parents! Are they coming home soon? When can we go to Diagon Alley?" came the litany of questions from the young, excited future wizard. Lilliana smiled warmly at him because this was the most lively she had seen him in a long time. Luca read over the letter what felt like one hundred times and memorized the needed supplies. While his mind was racing over the Hogwarts letter, he was led into the kitchen, where a meal was prepared for them. She encouraged him to eat and promised they would break out the quill and parchment to write a letter to send with Midnight back to his parents. Luca was sure his parents would return home for this.

Don't Disappoint Them, Luca
Just as Luca dug into the healthy meal Lilliana made for him, she returned from another room with parchment and a writing quill. Midnight was just as invested in all the excitement, so he followed them into the kitchen and perched atop some appliance he knew was safe. He could barely eat from his excitement about his Hogwarts letter, but he composed himself and tried to get a few sound bites before focusing on the writing supplies. As he looked at his nanny after wiping his mouth off from a messy bite of food, she asked, "Would you like to write it, or would you like me to write it for you?"
"I think I will," Luca replied, brushing his hands together to remove any excess food residue. He had the quill in his left hand and held the parchment down with his right, sitting there momentarily, formulating in his mind what he would write on the parchment. Luca started thinking about times during his childhood when he felt like he was disappointing his parents. He had short memories of his parents muttering about him when they thought he couldn't hear. While Luca couldn't hear the exact words, he could feel the tone, which felt negative. He thought it had something to do with why they were away frequently, even though he wanted for nothing.
Luca noticed another thought that came to mind while he sat there: those conversations seemed to stop after he was six years old and turned Lilliana's hair a bright, fiery orange. She had been ignoring him, and he got frustrated enough to shout, which had never happened before. Luca had felt something stir in him that he didn't understand as he tensed up, staring at her, and his eyes widened when her cascading mane changed from a deep brown to a bright orange. His parents returned days later, changing her hair to its original color, and they appeared very pleased with him.
"Luca?" his nanny called, her voice snapping him back to reality. He sat there staring at the parchment for a little longer than he had thought. A few moments later, he was writing furiously on the page in decent handwriting and folding the letter into an envelope. He only had to write "Mom & Dad" on the front of the envelope because Midnight was smart. He knew that Luca only wrote letters to two people. The owl had a sound system if there were two separate letters, too. He would bring them both to one parent and whatever one he was left with was brought to the other. Luca was too excited to realize there were three letters, meaning his parents were in separate places, so Midnight and his parents would have to figure it out.

After the envelope was properly sealed with the letter folded and tucked inside, Midnight knew it was his cue. The owl hooted softly and moved from his perch to the table that Luca was sitting at. Luca had set the envelope aside for a moment and took a few large bites from his plate because he was a growing boy who was very hungry. The boy wiped his hands again and handed the letter to Midnight, who took it in his beak and instantly flew off to bring it to Luca's parents. The excitement of the letter lasted for the remainder of the day and into the evening when Lilliana had given him the rest of it off from studies. She had assured the boy that his parents would return once the letter was received.
Sometime later, Luca woke up one morning to hear multiple voices in the other room, which only meant one thing. His parents were home! He rushed out of bed, skipping his house shoes, and headed into the penthouse's living area. Luca's heart smiled when he saw his mother, Amelia, and his father, Lorenzo. Lilliana was also there with a happy smile. They were elated to see each other as they usually were, but more so now to commemorate the occasion of Luca getting his Hogwarts acceptance letter. With a few words exchanged between the four of them regarding his change in height, weight, and schoolwork, the family turned to the task at hand: Diagon Alley.
Luca quickly prepared for the day with the help of his nanny and the four departed from the penthouse.
