The Sun rose warmly on September second; welcoming the new school term with a beautiful end-of-summer day. The previous evening’s festivities now settled, new students sorted, and everyone went to bed with full stomachs. Expectations were high among the student body, including Emmanuel who eagerly made his way to his first Transfiguration class of his second year. Em took his seat in the large classroom and pulled out his bits and bobs for class. He cracked open his new pot of ink, and dipped the nib of the fresh quill into the dark liquid. A sense of satisfaction tingled its way down his arm.
Professor Perceval-Phelan was ready to welcome the class, as incoming students gawked at the multiples of birds that filled the room. Students from Ravenclaw and Slytherin took their seats, waiting for class to begin.
The seat next to Em was empty, though he paid no mind as he focused on the quality of his new quill. Em had few friends, electing to focus mainly on his studies. He usually looked forward to classes with Hufflepuff, as his best friend was in that house. Though, he had a hope to find more friends this year, while maintaining the quality of his current ones.
Em's anticipation began to boil, and he nervously reached his hand into the pocket of his robe. There was a barely audible crack has he severed a corner of a bar of chocolate from his study stash he kept in his robe. He looked from side to side, and took a quick nibble of the sweet. At the same time, he felt a presence approach his desk. He looks dup, and saw a handsome boy with brown-blond hair, and light blue eyes. He was wearing Slytherin robes, and was about a head taller then the rest of the second years. Em recognized him, slightly, from the year prior; though they hadn't interacted before.
Em moved his school book in front of him, leaving a sizable place on the desk for the newcomer to get situated. He gave a eager smile.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to spread out so much. Nice to meet you, I'm Emmanuel,"he said, holding out his free hand in greeting.
