The Amazing Adventures of The Arjan, Volume 2
T H E- A R J A N- O B E R O I
When: 17th March 2025 | Where: PR Offices, Canary Wharf
It was another day in Arjan’s life, another opportunity to not only seize the day but to really make a name for himself. For months, he had been working hard every single day in order to become the best him that he could be. Years, perhaps. He exercised daily, ate well and practiced his skill on the broom regularly. His spellcasting had slowly become better too. More than that, though, he networked - even when he did not want to - and charmed the heck out of everyone that he met. People either loved him or were so jealous of him, because they wanted to be even remotely like him. They might pretend they do not like him but they were simply in denial as they had no chance of being even close to how amazing he truly was.
Yes, Arjan Oberoi had spent many years perfecting himself. Now, stood a fine specimen of a man looking back at him in the reflection of the window. He was truly in awe of how incredible he was. Every single day was another chance to showcase how blessed the world was to have him in it, and how lucky the people nearby were for they had the chance to gaze upon true glory.
The broad shoulder man was not only known for his athletic abilities and prowess in the Wizard Trials but rather, his stunning physique and impeccable appearance. No matter what, his outfits were always clean and properly pressed. His hair was styled so carefully that no strand had any chance of escaping the gel. He very much looked the part of being a pureblood, even when he wore casual muggle clothing.
All of this was his usual self-belief. But today, his appearance and his own confidence mattered far more than they did every other day. Normally, he was working outside. He would be training or partaking in the trials. However, for the very few occasions, he was actually indoors - and not in the locker room. He was in a rather fancy office in the City of London, a tall skyscraper based in Canary Wharf. He stood at the window, seemingly staring out into the city view but really, he was simply appreciating his looks. Instead of his usual training outfit, Arjan was dressed in a plain white shirt with the top two buttons undone and a pair of black trousers. His shirt sleeves were rolled up, making his formal outfit a little more casual. His hands were in the pocket of his smart trousers, and he wore a pair of shiny black shoes with it.
Despite the fact that he often said he hated muggles, he blended in with them very well. Their clothing was significantly better suited to him than wizard robes, but he would never admit that muggles did fashion better. Behind him, there was a long table that normally would seat ten people. Today, there was two - one on either side of the table. The public relations team that he had hired to work for him and showcase his incredible appearance out to the world sat at the table. They were leafing through some documents.
“These are- yeah, wow- you look-,” He heard the woman’s voice behind him. Turning with a smirk on his face, Arjan winked at her. She was looking at his latest photoshoot photos with a blush on her face. They were taken for the upcoming season of Wizard Trials, with him dressed in his training gear mounted on the Firebolt he used. “They would look even better with the new uniform,” He responded, addressing the pair. It was a clear hint to turn the discussion onto uniforms, “Ah yes, I’m working on getting the sponsors finalised for the season. It’s almost there, yeah. We just have some tweaks and stuff but like, I am hoping to get it done by the end of the week. Once it’s finalised, I shall send over the contracts for you to review and sign.” The man responded. Arjan probably should learn their names but… he had never bothered to. He was pretty sure the woman was called Jess but she was married, and he wasn’t interested enough to make an effort to remember it. He might have been a jerk or flirted with everything that moved but he had standards - and one of them was that he did not cheat. Though, that was very easy to live by when you also refused to be exclusive with anyone.
Nonetheless, getting the sponsors finalised was key. They would have their logos printed onto the uniform so he was forced to wait. Of course, he could have gone without any sponsors but securing a sponsor not only provided him with additional money but also made him look more professional, in his opinion. Every big player or team was sponsored. He was hoping to have some local big names, such as Quality Quidditch Supplies and Gladrags Wizardwear providing the equipment and clothing sponsors. Then, he could secure some media deals with a few sporting magazines as well as newspapers, provide some exclusive posters in each of them and bam, become famous in an instant. That was the plan but this annoying guy in front of him was failing to do his part of securing the best sponsors.
Arjan sighed irritably before nodding his head. There was nothing else to do. He could fire him but there was a reason that the meeting room only had a few people in it. These were some of the only ones who were willing to work for him. They bought into his brand and right now, that was what he needed. “Right, so if we can get the sponsors by Friday, send over the contracts and if they are signed and returned by Sunday, I can finish the uniform design and place the order on Monday itself. We should have the uniform by next week Wednesday then. Lets set up another photoshoot for after that then?” The woman jumped in after a few moments of awkward silence where Arjan was just glaring, trying to figure out if he should say something or not.
He grinned and nodded. Finally, someone was talking sense. Of course, it helped that it was the pretty woman. Hey, she might be married and therefore off-limits by his standards but he enjoyed a good view and some harmless flirting, "Perfect. Pick a day when you're free, you can drop by the shoot," He responded with another signature smirk on his lips.
Arjan watched the girl staring hard at the papers in front of her, clearly hiding her blushing face before nodding and then trying to change the subject. “Sponsors… Uniform, photoshoot for the Wizard Trials… What’s next on the agenda?” She continued as she rifled through the pages for the meeting agenda once more. “Ah, new stationery,” She lit up, always appreciating good stationery. Arjan chuckled, already forgetting about his foul mood from moments prior, “Yeah, I had some ideas in mind. I was thinking, we go with that Colour of the Year thing. Pantone's or something, I think,” He responded as he nodded his head over to a document peeking out from behind some others on the desk. They both took a copy and examined it. The page was printed in this year’s colour of the year - a stunning warm brown hue that they had called Mocha Mousse - and had two borders. The outside border was thicker and they were spaced about 1mm apart from each other, both were foiled in rose gold. On the page, it had text samples in different colours. A “THE ARJAN OBEROI” was printed in small text at the centre top of the page in rose gold foil and then there was some black ink to show how that would look against the paper. There were also a few text samples and a couple of lines in gold foil, as well as silver, to see what worked best.
“This one is my favourite,” He pointed to some samples that had been made up in the rose gold and mocha mousse combination - a letterhead with a matching envelope, as well as a wax seal that said “AO”, “Though, I prefer this seal,” He pointed to another sample which had an outline of his face on it and was a little ridiculous, in truth. Not that he would think that. He thought it was impeccable because well, it looked like him.
The stationery was essential for his image. He had originally wanted something with the dark red colour that he often wore. However, the graphics designer had convinced him to try something new and this one stood out to him. Arjan was pretty sure it would appeal to his female fans and let’s be honest, that was what he was doing all of this for. The stationery would be to reply to fan letters. He liked regularly changing it to make sure that his fans received a variety. It was also a good way to encourage them to write more letters to him as they needed to “collect them all” in his responses - and he did not respond to all of the letters. He was trying to create a demand.
He walked over to the woman, leaned over her shoulder and pointed to the top of the page, “Also, I want this trademarked,” before taking a few steps away and moving to get himself a glass of water from the side. It was quiet for a few moments behind him. As he turned around, he spotted the two exchanging looks with each other before one asked, “The uh… colour combination?” Arjan blinked. What in Stribog’s name where they on about? He could not trademark a colour combination - wait, could he? Eh, regardless, even if he could then he would go for something else, not this one. He would trademark the colour of his eyes or that signature dark red he wore. “The Arjan Oberoi.” He stated as though it was obvious.
Yes, that was right. He wanted to trademark his name but as a brand - The Arjan Oberoi. He shuddered at the thought that his rivals would try to steal his branding, which they would obviously try to do if they could. And he wanted to prevent copycats. What if someone like Felix started to go by “The Felix whatshisfaceagain”? Or worse, if people started to think they were associated because he had stolen it! That would be so bad. There were several rivals that he could see trying to rebrand to match his now that he had become to garner more credibility and fame and he was not going to stand for it.
Whilst the Durmstrang graduated hated being in the boardroom, much preferring to be flying around outside or exercising in any form, the meeting was rather productive. It was essential for him to attend these meetings and make sure that the two knew exactly what he wanted. When people did things without his input, it was always wrong. No one could think like him or truly emulate his style, no matter how hard they tried. Sadly, there was always a lot more to do. Once they had secured new sponsors for the season and gotten the new uniforms sorted, he would do another photoshoot and then work to get those turned into posters or exclusive photos for different magazine articles. He needed his brand to be trademarked before that, of course. But he also wanted to produce his own magazine and feature more in-depth covers of him. Everyone would buy that! He just needed to come up with a good name, get a logo made up, pick a suitable font and so on. There was clearly a ton of work to do and the list kept growing but The Arjan Oberoi was absolutely no stranger to hardwork and sweat.
Perhaps he would also hire someone to write his letters for him. Yes, it was getting a bit tiresome responding to the fanmail himself. He ought to hire a, what were they called, ghost writers? Yes, that sounded about right. The rest of the meeting continued on par, with the list of tasks assigned to the two others growing as Arjan randomly threw out ideas. It was their job to narrow down the tasks to the most important things or figure out how to make his ideas a reality. Arjan really wanted to get a broom named after him too, that would be very cool, or his very own clothing line!
He also needed to figure out a name for his fans. The Oberoians? The Arjanators? He was not sure what sounded cool yet but he needed to figure out a good one so he tasked them with producing a list or creating a brand pack for him to choose out of in the coming months to start honing everything together. Ah yes, the PR team had a lot to do but they were getting paid for it. Besides, the more successful he became, the better it was for them too as they would get more money and fame if they represented him.
Really, he was not hard to work for - despite the rumour that seemed to be going around where people did not want to work for him or found him annoying. He was actually doing them a favour. Anyone could see how generous he was being through his act of grace he was showing on the PR company. Soon, all of the wizards and witches would want to be represented by them in an attempt to emulate the greatness of The Arjan Oberoi. How could anyone actually dislike the man? Clearly, they couldn’t.
The Arjan Oberoi was becoming a brand and clearly, the haters cannot handle that. He did not blame them, it was very easy to become jealous of the guy - he was the pillar of perfection and he had everything that you could ever want, of course. Yes, he understood. If anything, he pitied those who hated him. They simply could never be him and that was certainly something worth being pitied over.
The new season of the Wizard Trials was only months away and he needed to be ready. It was not enough to be ranked highly this year - though that was also important and on the list of things for him to achieve - but he also needed to ensure that his image was in line for the next season. It was a constant effort to keep on top of things and the work never really stopped. He would have preferred to let those he hired do all the thinking but clearly, no one could capture the true essence of Arjan Oberoi like he could and he would have to put in the hardwork until the day he could finally trust someone to do it for him. Though, he imagined that would not be for a while…
