Considering that Harlan had expected his first week at Hogwarts to be traumatic, angst-riddled, and filled with questions; it wasn't actually all that bad in hindsight as most students had left him alone. Sure, he had a few questions, but most didn't quite remember Harlan from his first year escapades. Supposedly, Caoimhe had left to Beaubaxtons, but he hadn't heard much more than that and he was thankful for the fresh start. The not-so-little lion man had begun to shake off the cobwebs of what it meant to be around peers that were his age instead of his grandparents and their friends who couldn't help but try to find a young wizard some playdates, which ended up him hanging out with a ten year old who was still waiting and eager for school coming up. It was then that they knew he had to go back to Hogwarts, even if he hadn't any desire to. The teenager was quick to enter the Gryffindor Common Room with an exaggerated sigh, the boy was far too out of shape to be having to walk up from the ground level of Herbology to the Gryffindor tower with the dang stairs throwing him off too. He'd get reacquainted soon enough but Harlan was just thankful he made it back up before dinnertime. At first, he didn't notice the peering eyes from a single first year who had far too much bark without enough bite to back it up. Harlan's robes tugged against his form as they were too small for his body, but still barely fit him enough for his parents to decide not to splurge quite yet. He was a growing boy, it was better to get new robes at the end of Summer and hopefully not have to buy anymore for his entire schooling experience. Despite being Purebloods, his parents didn't back enough money to bankroll much and had to be thoughtful and considerate about any kind of purchase — it's why the moontrimmer that he refurbished from one of his grandparent's friendships was something he cherished immensely. " Pardon? " His facial features were quick to turn into an inquisitive gaze as the girl's question felt interrogative and the pang of not belonging rattled the boy to his core for a brief moment. This was exactly what he was worried about and there was a moment that he could feel himself retreating into himself before he looked back over at the witch and swelled himself with as much presence and ego that he could muster. She was quick to push back hard, something he wasn't expecting exactly but nothing a charmer like Harlan couldn't manage. " Sorry, I think you must have the wrong person. " Quick to deflect, he moved himself over to her with a beaming smile and a willingness to shrink or expand as much as he needed to meld, morph, and maneuver his way through the castle. " But, no worries, i'm Harlan. I just got back to Hogwarts after being in Germany for about two years. " With another step closer, he observed whatever it was that she was opening with unabashed curiosity attempting to disarm her with a locked glare, she couldn't get away with avoiding his gaze forever. |

if someone ever told me how badly i'd crave the german waters while i was with my grandparents; i would've rolled my eyes and laughed in their faces. it's pretty amazing how quickly a place can swap between desire and annoyance on a dime. it's how i felt about germany, it's how i feel about hogwarts. i miss being home while i'm in scotland, everything always feels so unsettled. the kids are so WEIRD. i mean, there's a few who aren't too bad but it's just chaos during breakfast, lunch, and dinner. |

| — | and like, okay, journal. i know it's typical to be obsessed with upper years but i can't help but think about these two constantly. it's so fucking embarrassing. ██████ ██████ and ███████ █████ ██ ███ ████ ███████ ███ ██████ ████ ██████████ . for safety measures, of course. there's even a couple of cool gryffindor kids, both in my year. raizel and finn, i can kinda see myself being really good friends with both of them but we'll see how it goes when i'm actually a proper fourth year. which, i'm still waiting to find out if i passed that stupid test i studied weeks for. harlow keeps saying don't worry about it, but if i'm in third year being tall as fuck, i'm going back to homeschooling here in germany with my oma and that's an absolute promise from me to you. |

okay, i might be a little dramatic — i've met this half-goblin kid who seems to really get me and a handful of others. my ultimate goal is to have harlow help me throw a returning to hogwarts gryffindor bash, i just need to figure out how to make sure our prefects don't rat us out or anything. anywho, harlow's been helping me figure out my style. she keeps saying she can't have a poorly-dressed sibling! like, so freaking rude. i don't have poor style, i think? whatever, we're in school robes half the time anyway. we're going swimming again tomorrow and my parents signed me up for this summer camp in august, something with animals? sounds kinda lame, but better than just staying home, i guess. [ PS ] — fingers crossed for me getting into fourth year !! if i'm called that tall first/second year next year, i'm gonna have an absolute crash out. |
