OOC Notes: Was feeling pretty eager to do a follow-up now that the other one is at a good and far enough length to bounce off from (That's not to say we can't keep going - we most certainly can! ) Another RP opportunity for members of the cabin! Completely voluntary :)
The Morning After This Thread
Emily woke up when her eyelids could no longer bear the sting of sunlight that punctured through her sleep. Despite the piercing sunshine that infiltrated the bedroom, she was still in a state of half-sleep when she opened her eyes. Her hair was tousled over the pillow, the duvet itself crumpled and entwined between her limbs and something damp sat underneath the lower part of her cheek that was smooshed into the pillow. Drool.

All signs that she slept like a log!

Emily couldn't remember the last time she slept this well. She felt rejuvenated, a new lifeblood of energy springing to life inside her. Though hold the phone... When did she make it back to bed? She couldn't remember. She must've slept-walked back over, asleep before her head even hit the pillow.

But who cared! She slept great!

She sat up in bed to stretch. She spotted a little black shadow underneath her pillow. Sneaking a hand under it, she fished out "Auntie's" letter and the black tourmaline stone she received last night, left there by Casey when Colin carried to bed. Not that Emily knew about any of that, let alone anything else that happened after she collapsed into Snoozeland. At most, she could only piece together that she - or someone - left her possessions there. She held both close to her. Her chest felt fuzzy. "Auntie" was amazing. If Emily didn't know better, she slept well thanks to her.

But maybe not just her. Just as Emily was about to swing her legs over the edge of the bed, she found Casey asleep on the floor beside her. He was sprawled on top of his duvet that separated him from the cold floor with a blanket barely covering him, having been shaken off in the night. He snoozed with his mouth open, snoring like he was drawing his last breath. Emily sat there and watched him for a few silent seconds. It was a bizarre sight to see sassy, aloof Casey in such a polar opposite state. He was sleeping like Tavra but in human form. Only then did Emily think that Casey might've slept beside her since she went to bed last night.

It was... Endearing.

Several others were still passed out in the room too. Other beds she couldn't see too well, being on the bottom bunk and all, unsure of who was awake and who was still hiding under the covers. Emily slunk out of bed and manoeuvred past Casey's sleeping form, reaching for her bag and lifting out an outfit before shuffling quietly to the bathroom where she switched out her nightie for some trousers, a shirt and a cardigan, her ribbon keeping her hair loosely tied back away from her eyes.

With half the residents asleep, gone or out of the room - depending on who was there or not in during this late morning - the cabin was quiet. The odd creaky floorboard accompanied Emily's soft padding against the floor as she made her way to the sofa where she last remembered sitting with Casey, Scout, Meyra and the McCoire lads. The conversation they all had together was a bit jumbled up as Emily tried to remember what happened. She didn't even remember falling asleep last night.

It felt strange to sit on a sofa all to herself. It was a different feeling to getting squashed between her buddies; Casey hunched over like a vulture, "due to his long back", he says, Meyra idly watching into the group, Scout sitting protectively nearby like the best friend she was, Colin perched at the back like an animal ready to pounce and Cursa pestering him with hushed whispers.

Add Jun and Ava to the mix and the cabin would have a family portrait. It was ironic, really. Aside from Cursa, Meyra and Jun whom Emily unfortunately didn't know too well, she was with, what she called, her Hogwarts Family. Scout was the best friend Emily only dreamt of having back home in Primary school, loyal to a fault and just as kind as any heart made of gold. Casey and Colin were becoming brother figures to her, a powerful blend of protection and support from both of them whenever she's with them. Ava was like a cooler older sister, trendy and assertive that Emily wished she could be. Standing beside Ava, Emily always felt a little bit plain by comparison, but she never felt she had to force herself to match Ava's standard. She merely respected her for being headstrong.

The mark on her finger was tiny now. The voices were gone for the time being. Emily smiled to herself as she threw herself off the sofa and cracked a window open, letting the cool breeze waft into the living room. She smelt the outside world, inhaling a lungful of clean air as it escaped into the room. It was hot and cold at the same time. Emily loved that feeling. That feeling of balance in the atmosphere.

She had lifted the tourmaline stone earlier and placed it into her cardigan pocket. Taking it back out, she left it on the windowsill. Given its shine and the thick floral smell from it, "Auntie" had already done her due diligence and pre-cleaned it with Florida Water. Emily watched the outside world as the stone collected sunlight on the windowsill.

She took another intake of air and breathed it out with a grin. After feeling trapped in lethargy and nightmares for what felt like so long, she was finally starting to feel alive again.
