The Lion, the Witch and My Worst Nightmare Closed

𝓦aiting on the ball of her feet to hear her name being called, the first year girl stood before the podium where a professor put a raggy looking hat on students' heads. Yasmin was finally here. It was a long time coming.

The girl knew next to none about the different houses, but one thing was for sure when she went up to sit on the stool: Not Gryffindor, not Gryffindor!! Anything but fucking gryffindor. Okay, maybe not Hufflepuff, but literally anything else! If she got the house of the lion and stupid people(her sister) she would kill herself. Not actually, but that's how important this decision was to her.

A voice in her head, the hat, chuckled at her thought. “Not Gryffindor, you say? It would be quite a good fit. The confidence and recklessness the Gryffindor students can offer would help you reach your goals...”

”No, you stupid hat! Didn’t you just hear me? I can't be in the same house as my sister!” Yasmin argued back in her mind. To deaf ears, because the next thing she heard, the hat roared: “GRYFFINDOR!!” The hat was removed from her small head and she glided off the stool with an expression of absolute contempt, slowly making her over to the red table where the students were cheering the loudest.

Except for one person. Sitting among the other Gryffindor third years was Florence Saade, and when she met her sister’s gaze, the older girl rolled her eyes before turning to bitch to her friends. At least they were two.

This is what her life had come to?! It felt like the universe was taunting her. She imagined a voice in her head laughing evilly, a rough representation of her sister, just less ditzy.

That’s right bitch! You’re nothing but my shadow.

Yas wanted to scream and thrash, turn on her heel and force the dumb hat on her head again and make it take it back. Instead her feet carried her over to sit by her new house, unable to even fake excitement.

Everything wrong in her life could be summed down to one person: Florence Saade. Her stupid fucking sister! Not only had she been forced to watch her perfect sister get her way all their life, but then she’d turned out to be some kind of magical girl or something. And now she was sorted into her same house! How could this be fair?!

Yasmin had never thought being a normal human was bad until her sister turned out to be special. At least the jealousy came with a few good perks.

When Flo returned home after her first year and showed them all her school stuff, Yasmin had smugly commented: “Of course you’d be a witch. You have a huge nose for it.”

Florence had chased her down the house with her stick, screaming and crying while Yasmin cackled evilly. The best part of it was that ever since she showed magic, their parents always took helpless Yasmin's side. She didn’t have magic, her parents explained to her sister when once again, Florence was the bad person. All while Yas was hiding behind her parents with a menacing smirk. They’d never know that she was the one picking petty fights with her.

What really had been the saving grace however, was when she too showed signs of magic, her sister was no longer special then. Except now with facit at hand, everything came back around to bite her in the ass.

“Hmf, I thought your toxic ass would end up in the dungeons with the Slytherins,” Florence bitched when the ceremony moved on to dinner, glaring at her from across the table. God, she wished.

“The hat said I’m here to haunt you.” Yasmin retorted bitterly, stabbing a piece of chicken dangerously with her fork.

If she was going to have to live in misery for the next four years, she would not be doing it alone.
