✽Avery sighed. She had finally finished her class which meant she finally had some free time, but Avery could care less. All she could think about was the fact that she hadn't heard any news from her family about how her grandfather was. She hadn't even heard from her cousin, Dylan, in a while. She knew she shouldn't be in a hallway while distracted. She always made the mistake of her thoughts wandering while somewhere very public and busy. She clutched her book bag tighter as she leaned against the wall. Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. She had to calm down.
When Avery opened her eyes, she was surprised to find someone else in the empty hallways. He was a lot taller than her, but he was only a little older than Avery. Maybe a second or third year. That's what confused Avery. She hadn't expected anyone else to be in the corridor since class had just began. "Hello?" Avery asked to him. Hoping to not accidentally startle him.
While Avery waits for him to respond. She let her mind wander again to her grandfather. She was supposed to visit him over the summer, but she didn't even know if he would be okay. No. She couldn't go down that path. Not again. Not now.

—date. [ 03/10/25 ]——————word count: [ 257 ]——————Tag: [@Avery Gray]— Noah was walking through the second floor corridors, about to sneak off and go meet up with a few friends. Well, he was until he heard someone’s voice echo from down the hallway. Noah turned around hastily and attempted to act innocent. He would be in some big trouble if he was to get caught. Noah squinted his eyes to see a distant silhouette in the darkness. They were moving toward Noah. Oh no, he thought to himself. This was, in Noah’s opinion, a one-way ticket to detention. This was very bad as Noah had already been almost in there for a reprimand over a throwing a paper ball with a friend the day before. Whether he should run off back to class or lie to the girl, Noah didn’t know. The young female, maybe a first year, was thus far a foot from him. Noah honestly didn’t know what to do. The girl had just asked him what he was doing when he suddenly blurted out the truth. “Meeting some friends,” he said suddenly. Now Noah was in definite trouble. He was doing fine until this girl he had never even met had to jump into the middle of Noah’s troublemaking. “What’re you doing here?” he added defensively, although coming off rather rude. The student looked rather taken aback by this sudden aggressiveness. Noah noticed his face was looking mad so he apologized. “Sorry, sorry. That was disrespectful of me. ✽Avery was shocked. She hadn't expected someone else to be in the corridor too. All she wanted was to peacefully go and not cause a fight. When the boy said he was going to see friends, Avery smiled. Seeing friends would be great right now. "Don't worry. I'm not a prefect, and I don't plan on telling one. I'm sneaking off too, but instead of seeing friends, I'm was going to do some Quidditch training."
Avery smiled weakly. Now they were both caught for sneaking around the castle while class was going on. Avery wondered what would happen if a professor found out. Then she brushed off the idea since she remembered she technically had a free period at the moment, but she could have done something else other than sneaking around the castle. But sneaking toward the pitch was a lot more fun at the moment.
As Avery waited for the older boy's response, she glanced around the corridor. Making sure that no one was patrolling the corridor. She did not want to accidentally cause the older boy to be caught. That would not end well. Especially since they were both heading to do things. Though, she did not have any of her supplies, so maybe she would do something else? Or just stick with her plan? Avery shook her head. Too many thoughts running through her.

He didn’t realize, didn’t even stop to think, that this girl was sneaking off, too. “Oh, well if that’s the case, maybe I could come with you? If you want,” he added. Seeing the girls expression, he said “Don’t worry, my friends won’t care. I’m usually just in the background watching; they won’t even notice. Is that fine with you?” ————————————— ————————————— ————————————— Next thing Noah knew, they were outside. The girl had her broomstick and they were walking towards the Quidditch Pitch. This was one of Noah’s favorite places to go during his free time; besides the library, of course. They walked in silence for a bit, besides the usual chatter and laughter and birds chirping. Noah had a sudden idea to get a conversation started. “I’m Noah, by the way.” This was the very best thing that Noah could think of. He had not even introduced himself properly to this girl. As Noah waited for her response, he started to think about his friends. Although what Noah said about his friends not noticing his absence was true, he was starting to feel slightly anxious about this girl. She seemed very nice yes, and very smart too. But Noah just still didn’t feel like something was right. Then he realized the problem. He started to feel a bit of social anxiety, which was something he had never experienced before this very moment in time. Noah thought he was exceptionally good at making friends, but he wasn’t expecting it to be this hard. Maybe it was because she was a girl, or maybe because Noah hadn’t been very popular ever… No, he thought, that’s not true. Noah felt like he was going through an everlasting battle with his anxiety. Not socially in particular, but also just in general. One time, before he was at Hogwarts, he broke down in tears over a test. Thankfully, it wasn’t simple things Muggles learnt here. Now, he was starting to think he had potential in the wizarding world. He never thought he would feel this way about something like this. ✽"I was just heading to the Quidditch Pitch. You're welcome to come if you want." Avery said as she began walking. The boy followed her, and, after a few minutes of walking, they were outside. Outside in the fresh air with a light breeze blowing. It felt amazing. It was also the perfect conditions for a short practice. Maybe she could even get the boy to join her in the air, though she didn't expect him to.
Avery smiled when the boy said his name was Noah. "Hi Noah. I'm Avery." Avery said with a smile on her face. Even with her thoughts whirling inside her brain, she pushed them aside. Not willing to end this conversation that had just begun. She was curious to get to know this mysterious boy that had also attempted at sneaking out.
Avery enjoyed her walk to the Quidditch Pitch for the first time with Noah. It was actually fun to have someone else to talk to instead of her just walking alone. She really needed to do this more often. "Are you sure your friends won't mind you not showing up? I don't want to keep you from them just so I can practice." Avery said. Not wanting to be rude.
