Jaemin had been up since before the sun rose that morning, nervous and excited for the day ahead. His mother and he had gone over everything in his trunk countless times to make sure everything was packed and that he wasn’t missing anything. He threw on a dark blue sweater, a pair of jeans and a pair on converse sneakers, brushed his teeth, brushed his hair and looked himself over in the mirror one last time before they left the house.
When they arrived at the train station, there was people all over going each and every direction. There was a lot of noise from the trains and people talking that you could hardly think. ”Where do we have to go, dad?” Jaemin asked, looking around before looking down at his ticket. ”Where is platform 9 3/4? Is that even a real thing?” He asked confused as they walked along the platforms until they got to 9 and 10.
“Right through there,” His father said pointing at the column. “Run straight for it and you will go through to the other side where the train is.”
Jaemin stared at him in disbelief. Well, I guess that makes sense for a magical train? He thought to himself as he gripped the cart with his trunk on it tightly, looking back at his family before running straight towards the column. He found himself going straight through it like his father said. This platform was just as busy as the muggle one except it was filled with other wizard families saying goodbye to other students who were getting on the train. Jaemin watched as his parents and sister came through together, holding hands as they came up beside him.
“Alright, Jae, this is where we have to leave you.” His father said and patted him on the back a couple times. “Remember what I told you.” Jaemin nodded and gave him a small smile.
“I can’t believe my baby is going away,” his mother said, smiling at him with some tears clearly starting to well up in her eyes. “Are you sure you have everything? Enough clothes? Did you bring your money?”
”Mom, I’ll be okay don’t worry. We packed everything and I will make sure to write as soon as I can.”
She smiled and nodded, pulling him into a tight hug. “If you need anything, anything at all don’t be afraid to reach out.” She said, pulling back slightly from the hug to brush his bangs back a little to look at his face, pecking his forehead. “I’m going to miss you sweetie.”
“I’ll miss you guys too but I have to get on the train now mom.” He chuckled and she finally let him go, moving beside her husband who wrapped his arm around her.
“I want to hear about everything! Make sure you send lots of letters!” Mina said with a smile across her face before hugging him.
Jaemin nodded, hugging her back. ”I will, I will, don’t worry. I’m going to miss you all, make sure to give Pepper extra treats for me.”
His sister nodded and stepped back beside their parents. They said their final goodbyes and Jaemin waved one last time before stepping up onto the train.
