Hogwarts Bound

Her mother and father saw her off at the station just as they had last year. The blonde argued that she was quite grownup now, going into second year and all and didn’t actually need them to be there but they came all the same. It made her teary eyed, clutching at her parents before she had to board the train. “You write home to us,” her mother was saying, her face stoic as she smoothed down Dymphna’s hair. “We’ll be waiting to see how you’ve settled in.”

Her father pulled her into a tight hug, sniffling at the thought of his daughter growing up so quickly. Wasn’t it only yesterday that she was a tiny, little thing that needed to be bottle fed? "Be good," he was able to get out at last, not risking saying anything more lest he embarrass himself in front of the other parents sending their children off. Soon, the family would gather together for dinners and read her letters aloud, sending along well wishes from her grandparents who could no longer read due to their poor eyesight or write due to their shakiness. She could still bring joy to their lives without physically being there.

Once they had her trunks loaded into the under compartment of the train, Dymphna went off in search of a compartment, passing many along the way that were full of new students and familiar faces alike. She gave smiles to the nervous first years and popped in to say hello to a few friends. The compartments had already filled rather quickly and she wanted a moment to herself so she slipped into the first empty one that she found, looking through the window and waving goodbye to her parents. As soon as they were out of sight, the train whistle blowing to signal their journeys beginning, the blonde let out a silent cry. It wasn't the first time that she had cried on the train and it likely wouldn't be her last.

Dymphna was happy to be going back to school, excited to meet up with her friends and see how their time away went but it made her sad to be leaving her parents behind. She would miss them but once she got to school and settled in, she would be fine and report home with how her schooling was going after the first week. Getting back into her routine would be an easy one — classes, study group and clubs. Every once in a while, she could step out of her comfort zone and embark on a spontaneous adventure. Just as the compartment door slid open, she was wiping her tears away. "Oh," she started lamely, hoping that the other girl wouldn't point out her blotchy, red cheeks. "Hello, Rhea. How are you?"

The Gryffindor was familiar to her, being in some of the same classes and having a few mutual friends but they hadn't been given the chance to get to know one another very well. "Would you like to join me?" It would be nice to have a familiar face to sit with throughout the journey and it would keep her mind off of missing her family. She moved her carry-on next to her, giving the other room to sit down in the seat across. "Did you have a good summer?"

The only person to be accompanying her to the train station was her nanny, Aida, who even then was off duty. Her parents were much too busy with other 'adult' things, as they put it, to wish her off. Besides, it's not like they would come to the Platform even if the did have time. That would require for them to care about her, and that they did not. But Rhea was over that! This year she would turn over a new leaf; no longer would she focus on what her parents thought of her, what they wanted her to do - anything! She was done!

With that thought in mind, she turned around and hugged Aida tightly, squeezing the life out of her. She knew she had to visit the Prefect's Compartment first, but after that meeting was over, Rhea began to wander around the train. Her mind was filled with thoughts of everything that had transpired so far. Her summer, rather dull and boring, mostly because her parents had locked her up in the Manor and forbade her from meeting up with friends; the meeting, full of students she would begin to work alongside with. And now, the fact that she was returning to Hogwarts, the place which she considered more her home than the Manor herself. Hogwarts was the place where she had met her friends, her family. They cared about her more than her parents did!

Sighing heavily, the drama and fear that had spread over the school last year also passed over her mind. She was not too keen on wandering around the castle anymore, scared of being attacked by whatever had been attacking students around the school; she'd heard stories, especially from Eris, who had been the victim to one of these attacks. But she hoped that whatever that was was over, and this year was turning over a new leaf, with nothing bad happening!

Making her way out of the prefect compartment, Rhea thought of finding the compartment which contained her friends... but realized that she simply wanted a moment to herself, to think, to compose her thoughts before she would inevitably see them at the castle and the feast. Opening the nearest compartment door to her, Rhea noticed a familiar blonde inside - Dymphna, a girl who Rhea had multiple classes with but didn't know too much about. "Hi, Dymphna," she greeted her, sliding the door open a little bit more. At the invitation to enter, Rhea slid the door open completely, sliding inside and slipping her trunk under her seat. When she deemed herself comfortable enough, Rhea pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and answered the Ravenclaw's question. "I'm good! My summer was alright; I didn't do too many interesting things. And you?"

This was a chance for Rhea to get to know the Ravenclaw - she'd heard many things from her friends (all good of course) and now, by some chance, had gotten a compartment with the blonde, and Rhea intended to make every moment worth it.

the trouble is, if you don't risk anything -- you risk more.
