11 February 2025 - Tuesday in Divination class

The events on Saturday that left so many Hufflepuffs violently ill and in need of emergency medical attention had shaken AngelFyre. She and Simon had nearly fallen prey to the ill effects, but thankfully they had only accidentally ingested a minor amount of the mysterious potion, with AngelFyre getting slightly more than Simon, thank goodness. She had cut her finger on a broken potion bottle that had been placed beneath the cushion of the sofa. She instinctively put her finger to her mouth, not realizing it was coated with a potion that had been in the bottle. Just that little amount gave her about 5 minutes of complete euphoria (spent in Simon's arms as the two face-timed up close and personal), and the the moment they began to come to their senses, AngelFyre had a hunger for more.

But not more of Simon.

Well, yes, always more of Simon, but primarily, she wanted more of that liquid tar turned gold that made everything brighter and more thrilling, and seemingly more possible. She was always a bold girl, but a reserved girl when it came to displays of public affection. Her boldness bordered on near scandalous proportions that evening, and worse was that she dragged Simon into it too. The only other time she had ever lost control of herself was once when she was under the influence of an Amortentia-laced cupcake. That was merely embarrassing. This, whatever this was, was dangerous. Coming out of the potion's hold on her within a few minutes of taking it made that clear enough. At least under the Amortentia's influence, what she said was true and real. What she felt under the mysterious potion was a lie.

Pure and simple. Bottled lies and false promises.

She had told Simon immediately it was the Devil's brew. It was. It is. Even as the thoughts of the potion began to consume her, she knew they were false. She had stupidly believed that nothing could ever get between her and Simon, but something had. And in the hours that followed late into that night and then into the next morning, AngelFyre thought about that brief separation, and it tormented her.

She grimaced as her hand moved to her pocket beneath her school robe and felt a little peace upon running her finger over her secret bottle of potion, purloined from the Common Room that evening. Not even Simon knew she had it and that bothered her. Moreso than anyone would, or could realize, but she kept the ticking time bomb nonetheless. She desperately wanted to drink it down, but knowing she had it was enough.

For now.

Following the events of Saturday evening, AngelFyre had scoured the Common room for any other potions. She had found none. She told herself it was because she wanted to make certain that nothing was in there that could harm any of her housemates. That was not untrue, it just was not the whole truth. As she tried to ready herself for the upcoming trip to France and making last minute preparations for Simon's birthday, AngelFyre tried to keep the gnawing want at bay. How could just a mere taste affect her to this degree? How much worse might it be for those who consumed a whole bottle? Or more? Well, she had had a sneak preview and was not looking to purchase a ticket to the show, nothankyouverymuch.

Quieting her thoughts was impossible, but as she was trying to non-chalantly hoover the Common Room, she was approached by Gideon Athanatos with a more than interesting proposal. All he asked was that she create a harmless, little distraction. AngelFyre both recoiled and rejoiced at the same time. Her studious, straight O self was not one to muck around with the business of her learning, or get in the way of others trying to do the same, but it felt like an avenue for a supply of more potion.

So here she sat in Divination class, watching and listening to Professor Clairmont talk to them about the crystal balls, trances, and then it was their turns to gaze into clear crystal balls themselves. Absolutely all of this felt counter to her faith, so she was in a great state of agitation to begin with, but when she was able to calm herself and clear her mind, the fog cleared from her ball as it had temporarily from her mind, and she saw herself and Simon and Colin, and other friends, running about the Grounds. They all stopped and formed a circle with their wands drawn and their backs to one another. Hovering about them were dark, robed figures, and she instinctively rubbed her arms, subconsciously feeling the iciness she was only seeing.

Chatter around her had been of other students seeing animals or family, or happy events. More robed figures arrived and she began to feel utterly helpless. She was an actual Seer. Was this real or was this a side effect of her down mood? Or was it the Devil's brew still at work? She spoke quietly at first and then it became louder and more insistent ... a drum beat repetition.

"Dementors.
Dementors.

Dementors!

Dementors! Dementors! DEMENTORS!!!"

And in her haste to get up and away from the offending crystal ball, she accidentally upturned her table and it rolled out of its wooden holder and onto the floor, but that was not her concern in the moment. Looking to Professor Clairmont for some assurance that she was simply seeing things, she demanded, "Why would I see that? Tell me anything but that that is real!"

And as she looked around at the astonished faces looking at her, her fingers were feverishly stroking the secreted bottle of potion.
