xxxIf this theme was chosen for their cabin, once they entered, people would find themselves looking at a beautiful mirage outside the window of turquoise water, a coral reef in the distance, and tropical fish surrounding them. This underwater view would be based on the coral reefs of the West Pacific. The windows were large from ceiling to floor, opening out to a beautiful image of an underwater landscape. The windows would be the walls to the living room and in the center of the living room there would the refractions of light through the water would glitter on a beautiful cashmere carpet that was the color of peach coral. A large couch would be on top of the carpet, with pillows of white and peach. One could stare right through the windows to see the beautiful underwater scene, though it was not real. And, if students and others found themselves bored, there would be a bookcase filled with as one can guess, books of any kind. In the living room, there would be various places to sit as well as a glass table where students could eat or study, play cardgames, or perhaps even gobstones. Each of the bedrooms would have wooden ceilings, reminiscent of a wooden ship's deck. Hanging from it were beautiful laces of white, hanging from decorations resembling different underwater plants, seaweed, anenomes, flowers, etc. The beds would have sea shell shaped pillows and baby turquoise coloured blankets. The carpet on the floor would resemble the sea floor and each member of the cabin would have their own treasure chest, though it was only for their clothes and belongings for the week they were here. For light, this cabin would have many candle holders made of glass with models of sea shells and starfish.

Maria raced around her room, still in her pajamas. As usual she woke up much earlier than everyone else. Today was the day. After the holiday blues that were helped by a school full of friends, the young lady was ready to clear her head. It was the day they were leaving for France and she would get to meet all kinds of foreigners.

She tied her hair up and got to work. She packed up plenty of make up and perfumes. Gotta look and smell your best! Of course, Maria didn’t need make up, her skin was perfect, but who knows what older students might need to cover up their unsightly visages. Next, clothes. So many clothes! She hesitated about bringing her kimonos. She might be mistaken for Japanese, the thought still made the proud Chinese girl gag a little. However, there was one she loved dearly: her lavender flower print kimono. That one she was definitely packing. No classes so she packed her normal clothes from comfy with too many holes, to high fashion streetwear she might need if they actually got to go to any of the cities!

Finally she looked at her most valued possessions and not just because they were by far the most expensive: her basses. She rubbed her hands together as she thought about which of her beautiful babies she would bring. The custom fender had to come, and so too her stingray. Oh, if she was going to perform outside she should bring her workhorse, a much cheaper but equally as powerful Sire V8. So much for picking only one out of the lot, but three would still work! She packed the Stingray and Sire into a two bass bag and then her custom in its hardshell case.

Now to get ready. She brushed her hair, and got dressed. She chose, at least for the value of first impressions, the very same kimono that she was going to pack. She put on her school robes and slung the bag over her shoulder and picked up her case. The other luggage could ride separately, she thought as she looked at the trunk she brought that was no resting beside the others. But her basses rode with her.

Even though the students arrived at Beauxbatons in literal moments, it seemed like days for the impatient girl. She said her hellos and smiled at all the funny British English that she only half understood and nodded to all the other languages: French, German, Russian, etc. Yeah, it was hard enough knowing Mandarin, Cantonese, Portuguese, English, and Japanese - no more languages for her thank you very much! Finally, they were allowed to go to the cabins. Oh, the cabins! She had been excited to see where she would be since she found out they would be put with other students from other schools!

“Underwater Paradise?” She asked herself as she looked at her assignment and then the names. Her heart sank when there wasn’t anyone she recognized. Until…wait. Mateo! As much as she tried she couldn’t help but smile a little. That well worn fear of being alone started to creep over her until she saw his name. At least she would know someone. Not able to give it another chance she was whisked away to her cabin.

It was so beautiful! Nautical themed plus aquarium. This was going to rock, literally, water made for excellent acoustics! She put her basses down by the door, already anticipating her trunk having arrived well before her. She would check on her babies in a moment. With her basses safe, her heart exploded with excitement, thinking she was alone, she twirled around the room. She stopped to look at one of the decorations when she heard a bedroom door open. She set it down with a big thud sound, she wasn’t really sure why she was surprised, but startled she was.

She whipped around, folding her hands at her front and bowing deeply to hide her childlike embarrassment. She composed herself quickly and with her practiced smile greeted the girl. “Hello! I’m Maria! I will be one of your cabin mates! It’s so nice to meet you!” She stopped herself from gesturing further, there was no tea to serve.
