As usual, Eun-ji wasn’t keen on attending any valentine’s event. In fact, she avoided this year’s Hogwarts event entirely. It may have sounded strange since she actually had someone she liked now but considering it was an unrequited love, it would most likely only feel like poking at an open wound. Hana would no doubt get plenty love letters even without her joining in. Sometimes, she felt like there was a special spark between them but it was hard to tell whether that was the case or just her wishful thinking. Her brain liked to play tricks on her all the time so she couldn’t trust it anymore. Perhaps this trip would be a good way to clear he mind a bit.

So why was the Ravenclaw here since she recoiled at any sign of romance? Well...for her cousin of course. This was his school and she wanted to see, where he spent the majority of his teenage years. Besides, the two of them always joked that universe played a prank on them by switching their places. Eun-ji, the artistic ballerina, stuck at Hogwarts while Ye-jun, the sporty guy, did his best to survive theatre. Yes, he actually had talent for it and he was a fan of fashion as well but still, he felt like Hogwarts would suit him better. Nevertheless, these were the cards universe dealt them and Eun-ji was just glad to have a chance to visit. Valentine’s event be damned. This may have very well be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Her journey to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic was mostly spent in silence. Eun-ji had very few friends at this point and most of them probably weren’t going. It suited her nicely though as she didn’t feel like talking. Rather, she spent her time reading until they arrived to the lavish French school. The ballerina had to admit that the place was truly beautiful and she hoped Ye-jun would show her around properly soon. For now however, she decided to go to her cabin, where they were supposed to meet. She wanted to settle in as soon as possible so before everybody else started piled in.

Luckily, when Eun-ji stepped into the beach themed cabin, there was only one other occupant and while it wasn’t Ye-jun, the boy was still a familiar face. “Oh…you are here too?” She asked, though her tone was hardly surprised. Tone seemed exactly like the kind of guy, who’d take any opportunity to meet new people. He was even adamant on pestering her, who clearly had no desire to make new friends...and was somewhat successful. Truly, one had to admire his perseverance. Besides, from what she understood, he was friends with Ye-jun now...although now that she thought about it, her cousin didn't mention Tone would be coming. Strange...does he not know?

EmmaLee sighed as she pulled open the door of the cabin and stepped inside.

She had almost not come to this schools-wide visit to Beauxbatons. France, well, anywhere in France that she could run into her mother's, no, the LeDames side of her family, was really the last place she wanted to be right now.

She pretty much understood at this point why her mother had wanted nothing to do with them. There were a few "good eggs" but the vast majority of them were manipulative and blood purists in a way that went beyond wizards. She just wished her mother had said anything about them before they crashed into her life. Apparently, so far, the LeDames women who didn't exactly agree with the family any more were simply not brave enough to leave as Celeste had, so they meekly followed along. The betrothal ball EmmaLee had let her grandmother put on for her had been a nightmare and, from what EmmaLee could gather, had more or less started splitting the old French family in two as those good eggs started to gain spines and speak up.

Adding to the strife was, apparently, the birth of EmmaLee's little brother, Nicholas. The first boy born to a LeDames woman in ten generations. The whole thing was too much to get caught up in with everything else that was already happening this year: becoming "official" with Stephen, Kiernan's death, dueling, becoming a prefect. She really just wanted to hide away in the Astronomy tower and pretend she'd never met the LeDames women.

But Stephen was coming and with how... distant things had been between them since the betrothal ball, she really couldn't pass up an opportunity to see him face to face, especially considering that he was stalling his extra work just to be able to see her.

That being said, EmmaLee had signed up late and ended up missing out on signing up for a cabin theme or choosing any of her roommates. Most of them were already in full cabins. So she had been placed in a random theme with a random group of students who only needed one more person. Not that she thought about it, it was kind of reminiscent of her first camp.

Oh. So it was a beach theme, EmmaLee realized as she stepped inside and the warm, sea-smelling air rushed over her cold skin and bones. Until that moment, she hadn't realized until now just how much she missed the sea. The warm inside would definitely be a nice change from the cold outside. EmmaLee smiled as she saw two other students already in the cabin and gave them a little wave before realizing that she recognized one of them. The boy.

She only met him rather briefly at a camp activity, but it had been a fun little encounter with quite a group of people... at the sugar fair. His name was on the stranger side. Ah! Tone. Hiro, but her preferred to be called Tone if she remembered correctly. If she remembered that whole exchange correctly.

"Tone! 'Ello!" EmmaLee said cheerfully, always glad to actually know someone she was sharing a cabin with. EmmaLee flicked her wand towards the small luggage that was lazily floating behind her, and the luggage sailed neatly to a bed in the far corner of the room. "It's nice to see you again." She continued with a bright smile, tucking her ivory wand into the holster on her thigh as she spoke. "Are you excited to visit somewhere other than 'Ogwarts?" She asked with a small giggle.

The door opened and a young woman with long dark tresses stepped into the cabin. A wide smile came to Tone's face as the beater recognized the tall, elegant, sophisticated girl enter the beach cabin. "Freya!" He exclaimed and launched himself at her from the side, wrapping his arms around her neck and shoulders. After giving her a quick embrace, Tone stepped back so he could see her better. "It's been awhile! How have you been?" He asked, smiling at Eun-ji and nodded when she asked if he was there too. "Mm! I'm waiting to see if Ye-jun will come over too." Tone said, his tone of voice somewhat excited or maybe even a little eager. It was around this time someone else entered the cabin, making the current total three...

Tone glanced over at the familiar looking blond girl and when she called out to him by name, he tilted his head to the side for a few seconds. Ahhh! Right! He'd first met her at the sugar fair during one of Hogwarts's summer camps. EmmaLee if he remembered correctly, that was her name. Tone headed over to give her a quick embrace too. "You too! I missed seeing you since the sugar fair!" He exclaimed with a shake of his head. "Have you had any sweets since then?" Tone asked, curious and nodded when EmmaLee asked if he was excited to visit somewhere other than Hogwarts. "I am! This is where one of my friends goes to school too! I've always wanted to see the place with him." Tone said with a quick little nod.

"Now I'm going to get that chance!" He said happily, almost beaming with the thought of Ye-jun taking him around the area. Eun-ji went to Hogwarts and he'd visited her there a few times. But Ye-jun went to Beauxbatons and he'd never been able to go there before. So this was a great chance! Who knew when he'd get the opportunity to go there again? Tone glanced back over at Eun-ji again. "Have you ever visited Ye-jun here before?" He asked, curious. She was his cousin, therefore it was more likely Eun-ji might have seen him here in the past. None of the others in the cabin had come yet but there was still time. Hopefully, they would come soon! Tone couldn't wait to meet them all. Three names he didn't recognize but one name sounded vaguely familiar. Tristan. It was as if he'd heard it before but Tone couldn't quite place from where.

Eun-ji was not thrilled yet entirely unsurprised by the enthusiastic welcome she had received from the Japanese boy. Afterall, Sparkles had never been one for subtlety, his excitement as unyielding as a summer storm and she didn’t think that would change anytime soon. Luckily for him, he was now Ye-jun’s friend, which earned him a certain privileges. One of which being less grumpy treatment from her, when he got too touchy for her own liking. At least he didn’t overstay his welcome, his touchiness fleeting, clearly understanding that she was not exactly a fan of physical affection.

“I’ve been doing fine.” The lie slipping from her lips as easily. It’s not like she could, or even wanted, to tell him the truth. Not even her cousin knew the full extent of her struggles and she intended to keep it that way. That particular secret she kept locked away, buried beneath layers of pretense and vague words. Let him stay in the dark, it was safer that way. “I’m sure Ye-jun will be here soon. He decided to stay in the tent rather than his dorms precisely because I said I would be here and he is not someone to keep me waiting.” The two cousins hardly ever got to see each other despite being family. It was only natural, they would take any chance to meet…even if it was a celebration of a holiday neither was particularly a fond of.

Eun-ji was about to move her suitcase to one of the empty bunkbeds, when another girl entered the tent. She did not recognize her but that was not surprising. The Ravenclaw was not the most social person out there nor was she interested in making new friends. Luckily, the ever-friendly Japanese boy took over before things got awkward. Honestly, how did he know pretty much everyone? Wasn’t it tiresome? Eun-ji was exhausted just watching him.

“Hm?” The raven-haired witched zoned out for a second so she almost didn’t register Tone’s next question. “No…I think visits from other schools were never allowed before so it’s my first time here.” She clarified without mentioning that her and Ye-jun only reconnected four years ago and she hasn’t even visited his family home yet. It was not a conversation she wanted to have in front of strangers...if ever. Let Ye-jun tell him if he wants to. Speaking of the devil…when the tent opened up for the third time, at last the person both her and Tone were waiting for entered. “Ah…Oppa! You are here.” In Korean used by younger females to refer to older males. It can mean “older brother” but is also used for other relatives, friends or boyfriends.

Truth be told, Ye-jun wasn’t exactly looking forward to the event itself but having Eun-ji come visit him at Beauxbatons? That, he was genuinely excited about. Of course, seeing her was always something to look forward to—she was his cousin, after all—but this felt different. He just knew she was going to fall in love with this place. They always joked that she was much better fit for Beauxbatons than he was, and it was true. She was an artist and a ballerina. Hogwarts, with its obsession with duelling and Quidditch, didn’t quite appreciate those things the way Beauxbatons did. It was practically built for people like her.

And it wasn’t just that, either. It was also nice to be finally sharing a part of his life with her. He was able to visit their old home in Chester two years back but Eun-ji had yet to visit France and his parents haven’t seen her since she was about nine. Despite how well they were able to reconnect, it always felt like she was standing on the outside, looking in, never really stepping fully into his world like she used to. This was the first opportunity to change that and he couldn’t wait to spend some quality time with her. To show her everything, to have her experience his life here. That’s why he also elected to stay in the tents rather than sticking with the dorms.

The Korean boy didn’t waste time getting there. Sure, a couple of girls stopped him along the way, handing him letters and chocolates, but he didn’t linger. As cruel as it might have sounded, their disappointed faces no longer fazed him. He did thank them politely but always made it clear, he was not interested in anything beyond that initial polite exchange. By the time, Ye-jun finally reached the tent he had plenty of chocolates to feed all it’s occupants. Shame his cousin wasn’t fond of sweets…

“Oppa!” Ye-jun chuckled at the familiar Korean address. “Sachon, annyeong!” “Hello, cousin!” He also answered in Korean, and just like that, everything felt a little more right. A split of a second later his eyes flicked over to the person standing next to her—another familiar face, one he did not expect to see. “Oh…you are here too, Wonderboy?! Why didn’t you say something?” He asked with a smile, clearly surprised but happy to see the Mahoutokoro student all the same. Tone was probably his closest friend at the moment so there was no way Ye-jun wouldn’t be excited to see him here. Thank God, one more reason this event would be much more bearable than he initially thought. “Or did you not plan to see me?” The Beauxbatons student teased, raising an eyebrow, his signature grin stretching across his handsome face.

Ye-jun nearly dropped all the chocolates, when Tone rushed to hug him. It was only because he knew the boy and instinctively expected such welcome that he managed to save all the sweets last second. He used one arm to cradle them to his stomach and used the other to circle around his friend’s waist, patting his back a couple times with practiced ease. “Careful, you are going to crush them.” The Beauxbatons student chuckled but made no move to push him away. He gave him time to let go on his own terms.

“I received some on the way. Feel free to take as many as you want.” He offered, voice soft and low. “You too, if you are keen on sweets.” Ye-jun made sure to include the girl he didn’t recognize, eyes flicking to her quickly, politely. He had too many anyway. More than even he and Tone could go through before they started melting or in the summer heat. He liked chocolate well enough but because he wanted to keep in shape, he made sure to eat sugary things in moderation and his cousin wouldn’t touch them. Not even the fancy ones, so sharing was the only sensible option. Even if it meant offering them to someone unfamiliar.

“Seems like we’ll be sharing a tent then. It does kind of seem like a destiny, doesn’t it?” Ye-jun didn’t really believe in things like destiny or fate. The most natural thing he could come up with was a happy coincidence. Normally, he would have said exactly that. But something about the way Tone looked at him, the light in his eyes, the playful lilt of his voice, made Ye-jun pause and decide to play along. He developed a habit of giving in when it came to this particular Japanese ray of sunshine. There was nobody else, who made him make such concessions. Ye-jun still wasn’t quite sure what to make of it.

“You have anything special planned?” He asked casually. “Eun-ji and I honestly did not plan to attend any of the events but if you want, I can join some with you? Or we could just hang out on our own? If you’ll spend me some time of course.” Tone was popular after all, and he seemed to enjoy joining in all the merriment that came with celebrations like these. The Korean boy usually didn’t mind too much himself, but this was the wrong type of holidays for him. It was too romantic, too full of rash decisions and games that ended with impulsive kisses and regrets. He really didn’t want to wind up kissing a stranger. He saw that happening last summer camp and he was not keen on joining the glittering wreckage of what should’ve been harmless fun. Why the other students went along with it was truly beyond him. If he was ever going to kiss someone, he wanted it to mean something…for both parties involved.

The sudden hug from Tone was surprising but not unwelcome and EmmaLee gave a small little laugh as she gave him a quick hug back, then another as he brought up sweets. "I am sure I 'ave 'ad a few since we last saw each other. I do always carry these if you, or your friend would like one." She produced a small bag of homemade, hard honey-lavender candies and offered them to him and the other girl in the cabin. Her named seem to be Eun-ji

Just as she did so, another boy entered the cabin, clearly familiar with the other two. She gathered quickly that this must be the Ye-jun that was a Beauxbatons student that Tone had mentioned seconds before. The French Hogwarts student hung back a bit while the three reconnected, simply observing the conversation as she put one of her own candies in her mouth. She chuckled a little as Tone greeted his friend rather enthusiastically and his friend took it in stride while offering apparently everyone currently in the cabin a share of his hoard.

EmmaLee nodded politely at the new boy's acknowledgment of her in his offer of the candy, but the boys' conversation picked up again before she could properly introduce herself or really accept Ye-jun's offer. Once he excitement of seeing real friends died down, she could probably introduce herself and then move to unpack and find Stephen and her own friends that were sure to be wandering around after settling into their own cabins.
