Parental Concern Solo

Dear Beloved Mother and Father,

This place is massive, I didn't know places bigger than grandfather's summer villa existed like this. The train smelled funny and the other kids were loud, but I liked it. No one wanted to hang out with me, but that's okay. I think I can make friends here, real friends my own age, isn't that amazing? It sounds odd, but I won't let it interfere with my studies.

Anyway, I have grand news for Father. I was sorted into Slytherin like you wanted, I will make you proud of me. I will not let you down, I refuse to disappoint you. Ah, speaking of such, I reconnected with a distant cousin. Ursula, from mother's side. She's much taller and prettier than I remember, but it has been years, so of course things like that would change. I want us to be closer again, like how it was back then.

Sorry, I fear I'm rambling. I miss watching television with mother and having tea with you, Father. I miss playing Bingo, I miss the neighbors being loud and so silly, then complaining about their hurt hips. I miss home in general, but the people here seem to be of another world. Furthermore, I'm so excited to meet them all, if I can, but like I said I promise not to forget my priorities.

Dear Little Gecko,

My beautiful little Gecko, how are you doing this fine day? The day is beautiful and sunny, it reminds me of your smile. I trust you are enjoying yourself at Hogwarts? You haven’t reached out to me or your mother, we’ve truly missed having you at home. Even those rowdy neighbors have wailed to Mama about needing you for ‘bingo’, whatever that is. I’ve told you to stop entertaining their weird activities.

Moving on, we are beyond happy to find you have made it into Slytherin. Your grandparents are behind proud of you, we are proud of you! You are already on the first step forward to shining bright as the beacon of the next Phillips generation. Remember, we are a small pureblood family, but we are not to be underestimated.
