Harvey was fuming. His week had ended terribly and to make matters worse he was heading to his least favorite place in all of Hogwarts...the greenhouses. ON A SATURDAY! He could barely believe the grade he had received on Friday. A for acceptable! Harvey Barrows did not receive A's in any course, at any time! Yet Herbology was proving to be a thorn in his side. He huffed as he exited the Slytherin common room. If this had been some muggle cartoon smoke would have been pouring out of his ears as he stomped off.

Not only was the boy having to use his free time for extra study, but the fact that it was Herbology just left him absolutely miserable. Harvey had known before coming to Hogwarts that this was one of the core classes he would have to take for at least five years. At first he thought it'd be easy. A cake walk that would provide a hassle free O for the report card, but oh had he been mistaken. Harvey was not a gardener. That was peasant work. Beneath someone that came from such a prominent family. He was not destined to be a laborer and as his grandfather would say, this was work that you simply paid for. Right from the beginning the boy had struggled with the course and he was all but happy to ride it out making an average grade, but his grandfather would not accept such a mentality from Harvey. He was to leave Hogwarts having aced every course, no matter how trivial he felt it was.

The part-goblin was still seething as he opened the door to the greenhouse and prepared to get to work. The task should have been simple. There was a bed of honking daffodils and the task was to isolate them and move them to individual planters. Why in the name of Merlin did he have such a problem with this! "Stupid, noisy plants." The honking drove him mad as he donned his protective gloves and tried to get his mind right. "Is kkarrk reda dims em rara! (it smells like dung in here)" Harvey cried out in gobbledegook as his frustration began to bubble over.

Minnie woke up happy. Her recent herbology homework had gotten an O, and she wanted to come in for some extra study, just because she loved it so much. Perhaps it was stereotypical of a hufflepuff, but she loved plants and herbology. It was her favorite class, much better than the dreaded Transfiguration. The plants just calmed her down and put her in a happy place. So of course, she wanted to hang out with the plants more.

Speaking of plants, her bedroom was in plant palace. That really helped her sleep. She just didn't understand how anyone could hate plants, as they were so amazing. She breathed in the deep smell of them, then hopped out of bed. Quickly shoving on a shirt and leggings, she grabbed her satchel and walked out the door.

The greenhouse was quiet, but there were a few other people there. Perfect; not too lonely or crowded. Minnie stretched and got to work, working on figuring out magical plants from muggle ones. She wanted to see what kind of stuff the plants did, more than just listening to her favorite teacher lecture.

As she worked, she saw a younger boy looking very frustrated. Minnie bit her lip, then made her way over to him. Perhaps with her love of Herbology, she could help. So she crouched next to him, trying to seem older than she really was. "Hey, I'm Minnie, and I was wondering if you needed any help? I love Herbology, so perhaps I could help you with this?" She asked. Okay, that didn't sound too bad...now I just hope he isn't a jerk, and is just frustrated. She took a deep breath and tried to talk again. "It's completely fine if you don't want my help, I just thought I would ask."

It came as no wonder really that Harvey was struggling so much with the subject. Having donned his protective gloves his frustration was now being taken out on one of the poor daffodils as he just about strangled the flower trying to repot it. Herbology required care and patience and the part-goblin was severely lacking in both on this Saturday. Just as Harvey was about to throw the plant across the room in defeat he would catch a new presence out of the corner of his eye.

He looked Minnie over as the second year kindly offered to help him. Harvey's beady, almost black eyes turned to slits at the sight of her. She looked like one of the damn bumble bees that pestered him in the gardens. Buzzing around all joyful as if there were no problems in the world. And who in their right mind would claim to love Herbology. "Just thought you would ask, hm?" Harvey's shape tongue lashed out as his frustration reached a tipping point. "Love Herbology do you? Can't get enough of the grit between your fingers and the dirt under your nails, yeah?!" He nearly spat the words as he slammed the poor daffodil back down into the dirt leaving it bent and tattered. "My name is Harvey Barrows." The part-goblin arrogantly announced his name as if that should mean something to all his peers. "And we Barrows do not toil in the dirt like peasants. It's absolutely absurd this is mandatory at Hogwarts! So, sure Minnie. Why don't you should me how the lower class make a living." It was as if venom dripped from his teeth as he glared at the second year.
