Yolanda walked into class that day after having done something totally different...

Yolanda did love her hair messy curly hair, but it was patchy and she had the habit or hairpulling, she’d had enough of her hair being a patchy mess.

So she did something drastic. She shaved her hair off! Bold? Definitely. Regrets? None!

Yolanda thought she’d be in tears over getting rid of her hair, but it turns out she looks quite good with a shaved head. It made her head look smaller and she could choose to grow it out, or keep it short, because it was actually looking really nice!

Yoland was lucky to have a fresh start.

But would others like it? Was it too much.

Well it didn’t matter because the deed was done. She hoped it wasn’t too much, maybe she should have used the Hair-Growing Potion somehow… but that was above her level of skills to make and not what she wanted anyway.

This was a choice she wanted to make and shaving her head had always been on her bucket list!

Yolanda felt her smooth scalp and smiled. This wasn’t so bad, and now she could regrow, keep it short, or whatever she wanted.

But would people say anything? Would they like it? She tried not to worry about what others thought but it still mattered a tiny bit. That was okay though, she was feeling secure with her decision.

For the first time in a while, she felt free.

Haley continued to struggle with navigating the confusing halls of Hogwarts, not to mention the unpredictability of the ever changing stairs. Her father had shared minor snippets of the castle with her over the years, but the images that Haley mentally conjured paled in comparison to reality. The castle itself almost felt alive, like the cold stone walls held past secrets not quite ready to be forgotten. The portraits on the wall provided aid on occasion, but more often didn't want to be bothered with pestering questions from a first year. She had resorted to drawing arrows on her hands when navigating from place to place, but she still rarely reached her destination in a timely manner.

Today, however, was going to be different. Haley found a classroom on the second floor the day before. It shared close proximity to stairs that led her straight to the Charms classroom - her next class. She was determined to arrive poised and ready to learn, rather than the flushed, sweaty, disheveled mess she'd been in nearly every class up to that point. The recently misty mornings didn't help her appearance either; any amount of moisture caused her wavy-curly hair to frizz uncontrollably.

Haley barged into the classroom, expecting it to be empty, muttering to herself the incantations for charms they'd been learning. She set her bag down on one of the empty desks, studied the arrows on her hands for a moment, and continued to speak under her breath. She finally looked up towards the grand window after about a minute had passed and was startled to realize that she was not alone.

"Oh, uh, hi!" Haley's face flushed with embarrassment, unsure how long she'd been talking to herself nor how long this person had been standing there. They appeared to be Haley's age, but they were several inches taller. They looked familiar, but she thought she would have remembered a peer being completely bald. She unknowingly tilted her head slightly to the side. Maybe they were in a different year? She stood awkwardly next to the desk waiting for them to speak.
